>>109108151Who hurt you this time?
>>109108151The only os of dire need of saving is windows, since it's bottom line unusable and the main reason linux is gaining traction.appimage is bloated as fuck and unable to run inside bubblewrap unless extracted, tgis alone pputs it in useless-tier.Flatpak > appimagePicrel saves linux right now.
>no automatic way to install to launcher and/or system PATH
>>109108235If you've got appimage stuff installed, you can just right click and open with appimage installer
>>109108235If you tried to make Linux people accept something like the MacOS Applications directory, you'd be seen as a villain
>>109108151Am I the only one that uses distrobox for software outside of the official repos of my chosen distribution?
>>109108502Yeah that's good for software that wants to install to /usr/bin /usr/lib and /usr/share, but some software wants to just fucking sit in a directory with its dependencies. Appimage is a good alternate delivery mechanism for apps that'd be put in /opt/softwarename if it was distro-packaged.
>>109108151I like appimage because it forces devs to sort out their dependencies to load from relative paths, so the program works even after extracting its appimage.
>>109108151it's too slow.. The overhead is to much for small apps. Also needs better integration.
>>109109328just unpack it and run unpacked.
>>109108151Yes. But *ONLY* if you do it the right way:https://pkgforge-dev.github.io/Anylinux-AppImages/
