What is /g/ thoughts on high end razors? I thought they were frivolous but they really make a huge difference compared to your standard shitty razor.
>>109125298this is just dealing with the symptom without solving the problem at its root. just stop growing hair.
It just works
>>109125352spbp
>>109125298Those things fucking suck. I found a 60s or 70s Gillette in decent shape at a flea market and just shave the way my granddad did. You don't even have to use a brush and a nice soap if you don't want to. A can of Barbasol works.
Use case for shaving?
>>109125298These are incompatible with my skin unfortunately.
>>109125298take the safety razor pill
I am not a homosexual or a woman so I do not shaveThe very most you should be doing is trimming the edge of your beard so you don't look like a muslim, and this can be done with a sharp scissors and not the electronic made in china manchild toy

>>109125456>Use once or twice MAX and throw it away.Good disposable razors last a lot longer. I shave every day, can't imagine throwing away so much plastic.
>>109125352How do I say "NIGGER TIER TECHNOLOGY" without sounding racist?I mean, Africans do pollute the world ocean a lot with plastic, so it's relevant. But still sounds very harsh. Can you help me out with better phrasing, anon?
use a BLADE like a real MAN
>>109125396Helps keep debris out of your keyboard.
>>109125503Why not both? Blades are really good for sideburns but I keep cutting myself and having shit shaves on the chin/face/neck.
>>109125298I have a Norelco 6000 Series from Costco last year that came with cleaning solution pods. You place the shaver into a the pod upside down and it runs a 60sec cleaning cycle. It’s pretty good. I shave daily and have had it for a year. Just bought its first new razors for $35 and solution for $12 off Amazon. In my case it’s been worth it. I’m happy with mine
>>109125298I hear that trannies are quite fond of the philips oneblade, and this is probably the one matter where I might trust their opinion. What I think is cool about it though is that they're essentially just clippers. These foil shavers and rotary shavers all kinda suck dick because they can't deal with longer hairs very well. The philips oneblade would handle it just fine. There are two major downsides though.1) The form factor is annoyingly large. I want something travel sized that's no larger than a vape pod or some shit.2) It's not USB-C charged. That means while you travel you have to carry around an entirely separate custom charger which is gay as fuck.
>>109125476Just get a safety razor at that point
>>109125551I have extremely sensitive skin in my neck in addition to bumps that always get cut and bleed whenever I try any type of razor (disposable, safety, straight) and the oneblade is the best option I've found, it shaves super close to your skin but I don't get any irritation at all from it.The head replacements are too expensive for what it's worth unfortunately, and it's not something you'd be able to cheap out with a chink alternative, so now I just use my hair clipper and rock the 5o clock shadow.
I just use clippers.
>>109125688Dude. Each blade is $9 and they last months. How broke are you exactly?
>>109125702They last about 1.5 months, and after the 1 month mark they begin to lose sharpness and hurt my neck. Also the hair clippers cost 0, I don't really care about it anymore. And if you don't care about affordability just go to the barber instead of shaving yourself like some sort of plebeian slave, you're not poor are you?
>>109125298>high end razorsBuy a fucking safetey razor you completel manlet, holy fucking shit.>>109125396Raises your chance to fuck from 0% to 0% but you look a bit nicer.>>109125408Shave your fucking neckbeard anon.
>>109125688I used to have sensitive skin issues, but mostly because I was just shaving my face with soap in the shower and I guess that's retarded. I recently switched to using aveeno sensitive shaving cream, and I can use any razor I want now. I wash my face first, which helps with sensitivity issues from the shaved hairs themselves, which was what was causing some of my issues. My shaved hairs would cause ingrown hairs on my legs as they were washed from my face down into my huge ballsack. Now that I wash up first and use proper cream, no issues.
I recently bought a Panasonic arc 5 as an upgrade to the cheap philips norelco 2000 my parents bought me when I was a teenager. It hasn't really enhanced my shaving experience, both razors get the job done. The cleaning/charging station is nice I guess. It's a lot louder than my previous razor.
>>109125802>just shaving my face with soap in the showerIt depends on your skin, some people (I think most?) can really pull that off, I'm glad the shaving cream helped you but I still get bumps and bleed even with proper cream/gel use.
>>109125904Anyone can pull it off with the right soap, but it may get expensive.
Let me guess, you need more?>>109125802Shaving is one of those things where people put a lot of emphasis on the razor and buy some trash like barbosol. Getting a good shaving cream or gel (or even bar you have to whisk classic style) is very important. I've had some absolutely awful creams that barely lubricate my face, and others that leave my skin very dry afterward. Getting a good cream makes a huge difference in how close of a shave I can get while still avoiding ingrown hairs or razor burn.Instead people focus on blades and then keep getting burned because their cream sucks ass.
>>109125396Getting a job.
Based on the comments you can really tell who actually a professional and who a disgusting neckbeard lmao.
who the fuck shaves in the showerdo you alzo buzzcut with a blindfold on
I can't grow a beard so I wonder if I should just epilate the few hairs I have on my face.
you only need to shave your ass.
>>109125298I bought cheap $6 one from amazon a while ago.A mini electric one that came with 2 heads, 1 for shaving, 1 for hair cutting. Its actually usable for me. And has replaced by bigger electric shavers.
>>109126429This. Shaving my ass was one of the best quality of life I've experienced. No more shit hanging from my hairy ass, easier to clean when using toilet paper and the soap bar no longer comes out full of hair.
>>109126429>>109126486It's a strange feeling and I don't like it. Makes it easier to get a sweaty ass when sitting. The cheeks slide unnaturally against each other. If God and nature intended us to have hairless asses we already would have them.
>>109126684>The cheeks slide unnaturally against each other.this one is the deal breaker for me, first time I shaved my ass I went for a walk afterwards and got all sweaty and could feel my cheeks sliding and was awkward as fuck. Never again.
>>109126009For me it's
>>109126684many races have hairless asses though
>>109127635Not those indigenous to Europe
I shave every day but I never tried an electric one. Come to think of it, it would save me a lot of time on applying shaving cream. Can you get the same quality of shave as with a wet shave?Very important question, this might actually save me hours/days every year
>>109125298With picrel I finally retired my old safety razor. Despite the price of the cartridges which is a bit high, they last me more than one month with x4 face shaves/week + x1 hair/week + x1 torso/belly/balls shave/week. Additionally, I can still pair it with all my brushes, soaps, aftershaves, etc.
I use a safety razor. I don't consider it a meme because it legit saves a ton of money over time compared to any other alternative, and you can only really blame yourself for a poor shave. Specifically, I use a Chinese Henson clone made of stainless steel because I like the handle to have a bit of heft to it, and the original Henson is made of aluminum. The thing cost about $25, the blades are dirt cheap. Also, >>109126009 is right. The shave soap/gel you use matters A LOT and it can make or break your first impression of safety razors. It's roughly as important as the razor and blades. You want a super slick, super lubricating solution so that the blade can glide and not needlessly catch on your hairs. Unfortunately, what works best for (You) is ultimately going to be a very personal solution and it takes a bit of experimentation to come to a good conclusion. After a bit of practice and some experiments, anyone can learn to get a super close shave with a single blade. All that shit said, I still sometimes use an old Phillips Norelco from years ago if I'm in a hurry. The one undeniable advantage that these electric razors have is that they're faster and less fussy. Shaving with a safety razor takes some amount of patience and skill, and while you can get pretty good at it, it will never be as fast as dragging some foil shit across your face. But I'd never consider buying some high end thing because the mid-range one I have just werks.
>>109127697hell noyou might be faster / more tollerant to hasty preb with a different head, for example a 2 blade gillette works miles better on my face than a mach3, >>109127733 or a safety razor but that is different for everyone
>>109127219I had low expectations for these but they ended up being the best for my face out of a large sample pack
>>109127775i already have the blue/orange giletteso I guess that's as fast as I can be without scarificing quality
>>109126382>he doesn't know
I shave my head and face every day, so I was looking to try saving money by switching to a safety razor. Tried several different razors and a bunch of different blades, and soaps/creams/gels. In the end... no combination worked well enough. Nothing got as close as a mach 3 going against the grain. And now I have scars on my head (mostly faded now, thankfully). Going with the grain was barely even a shave. Against with a safety was better, but still not close enough. I got a shadow like 3 hours later, versus with a mach 3 it's smooth till early evening. Shaving with a safety also took like 4x as long. In the end, I went back to the mach 3 and I just use the cartridges longer. With the right prep and a good gel, they last a month, even full head and face daily.I never tried an electric. Thought about it, but seems like a big investment for something that probably won't work better.
>>109127878if you're shaving everything except your eyebrows, an electric shaver actually makes sense. they conform to fucked up head shapes more securely and save a ton of time
>>109127894Yeah but will it be smooth enough?

>>109125551I have one and it's ok. It's not going to be a super close shave but it's decent for when you just want to look presentable when doing errands n shit.

I have the type of facial hair, that if i were to go to a barber with a damascus steel straight edge freshly sharpened with a diamond block, super exfoliating twice rendered beef (100% grassfed and finished) tallow balm applied with a boar bristle brush after having a heated towel sit on my face for 15 minutes... Bleeding from micro-lacerations will happen. Don't worry too much as long as the cuts are so small you can't see them. That'll stop happening as technique improves.Even with a shitty electric razor using facial cleanser first makes it work a lot better.
>>109125352but it fucking hurts
>>109127733i like proglide, u can buy pack of blades for cheap and they are far better than gillete cheapo razorsIm using it with aloe gel instead of shaving foam. Also u have to make your hair soft, either shave just after shower or use hot towel or something.I was thinking about philips series 7000 or simillar electric razor but ive seen that they leave short hair after use so i dont know, look like i will stay with proglide. Unless there is electric razor that shave close to skin
>>109134173Stay with manual razor (either Gillette or a safety razor). No electric razor can give you a BBS.
this is unironically peak razor technology.>works for a lifetime>doesnt cause razor burn>doesnt need batteries>you can get straight lines on beard/eyebrows>you can shave your whole back (if your not fat)>you can take off a lot of hair in secondsi wouldnt recommend it for shaving your balls but thats about it.

>>109125352The blades are dull as shit. I'm pretty much scrapping the hair off my face and getting terrible irritation in the process. I'm better off shaving with sandpaper or a kitchen knife.
>>109134460This. It doesnt matter how fancy the e-shaver is, they all have this flaw.
>>109134710It's not that they are dull. The alloy they are made of is just cheap soft dogshit.
>>109134735* which means it only works for thin women hair
>>109134653You say it takes longer, but i haven't had to waste any time buying razors or razor blades in years (unless i need to shave my balls, due to the aforementioned skill issue)I mean in reality i use both all the time, but having to do that back-ward-and-forward dance with a safety razor to prevent it from getting clogged up is incredibly frustrating when you know a straight would just chop it all down in a single pass. And stropping only takes like 2 minutes, if that. I do it while the soap is softening things up. Also i dont care what people say, bristle brush and a good natural soap is so much better than any goycreme or goygel
>>109134752Yeah, I can only imagine them being useful for stuff like wispy leg hair or eyebrows for women or something, but not male beard hair. I need at least two passes with a blade sharp enough to kill someone to get a proper shave.

It should last you a decade or more.Senseiq and app shit are useless.
>>109134825The inner thigh has a vein in it somewhere that even if you just nick it, you're going to bleed out and die. I don't really worry about cutting my dick off because straight razors can't cut that deep actually, they are like a fat wedge so already at 3mm deep they are 4mm wide, unlike a knife. Also they are extremely clean/sterile/straight cuts, so they generally dont scar, whereas razor burn is like a large scale general infection from having mowed your face up, and it can cause whole body homosexuality

You may think I should just use normal razor at this point, but my skin is prone to irritation and from my experience foil shavers are the safest in this regard. Using it just with the water works poorly, it just make the shaver stick to the skin.Beside, with wet&dry you can use water to clean your shaver from time to time, so it's quite convenient.
