Lxde used to actually offer a de that was lighter than xfce back in the day and lxqt was supposed to be similar, but it's not.You can easily test this on several distros, install debian, fedora, and arch. Each distro installed twice, once with each DE and compare the ram usage with free -h.Won't take long to test out in a vm, if this thread is alive later I might do it and send pics.
