What is it about tiny computers that make them so compelling, even though they generally suck to use?
>>109130476It was a fun idea until smartphones replaced them. I remember thinking how cool it was I could browse forums during lunch hour at my retail job on my shitty netbook back in 2007.
>>109130550As good as phones are now they lack some basic functionality that hold them back. Termux can't flash an os to a USB stick for example (and all the flasher apps suck)
>>109130476They are not though
>>109130476People love tiny shit. And the keyboard and any ports it may have makes you feel like you're using a "real" computer, or the potential to use it as a "realer" desktop. Even though whatever you do with it you could probably do just as well on your phone.
>>109130476that thing is slower than a fucking raspi 3
they invoke the sense of the "real future" we diverged from. noone, absolutley ZERO fiction imagined wed use black glass bricks as our main interface. they look cool and neat and novel and this is the attraction. a black glass brick does not look very appealing but really is the optimal interface, sadly
>>109130476People like to fantasize and tiny computers allow them to imagine that they will be able to both enjoy their "hobby" and be out and about engaging in life (which they never do)
>>109130476I barely use my phone for anything besides text and calls. I can't stand not using a larger monitor. Anything less than 24" widescreen can gargle my nuts. VR would have been based if it could replicate using a large monitor, but I suspect they never considered that option because retards can't type without looking at their keyboards, which is probably like 98% of the population easy.
I use a tiny laptop for my main, I need a real pc..
>>109130605Who would want to type on anything smaller than an Eee PC as their main machine anyway?>>109130655Unironically this.
>>109130715>VR would have been based if it could replicate using a large monitorNot possible without a massive res increase. Like at absolute minimum you need 8000x8000 per eye (16k equivalent in a real monitor). You think anyone can run a 16k screen?
>>109130476The distinct keyboard sound and the fact that you have to make use of time before the battery runs out.
>>109130559etchdroid always worked for me
>>109130476The pineshitter is so bad that it tainted PMOS's image permanently
>>109130476>What is it about tiny computers that make them so compelling, even though they generally suck to use?smol
>>109130476It's just novelty. You play with it for a few minutes then it goes in the drawer forever.
>>109130476Worst part is the screen. No amount of scaling makes them alright to use.
>>109130605>noone, absolutley ZERO fiction imagined wed use black glass bricks as our main interfaceEnder's game did

>>109130476People just love small and cute things.
