People whose job is administrating Windows or working with it in any way, how do you live?
>>
>>109134781
They don't deploy and manage Windows 11 Home or Pro for starters

don't see how windows has any connection to living. but i do eat these.
>>
>>109134781
Years ago I worked as a tech support agent for one of the more popular computer brands, half of our tickets were caused by Microsoft, directly or indirectly.
>>
>>109134781
Windows existance has made some great tools, when deploying shit on peoples PCs I just blast it with Winutil or Winhance depending on how I feel and the entire Windows setup is done in 10min from installation to configuration.
>>
>>109134993
I can safely guess you weigh over 200 kilos, can't I?
>>
>>109134781

>>
>>109137184
they not yet installed all spyware they want
>>
>>109134781
better than I do using loonix, although it's not a huge difference for my usecase. I'm forced to use both.
>>
>>109134781
I did that as side gig, 200 employees company, three locations.
Everything was running on big dell server while users connected through rdp session and used their computers as simple terminals.
It's was super easy to maintain and worked great, I also pirated everything windows, cals, office...
>>
>>109134842
It has still deteriorated. Even in enterprise version. You have less shit than home or pro, but there's still shit. You just get to handle it more easily with semi annual release cycles and intune management / restore / backup

>>109134781
I don't work as sysad anymore though, went into development recently. Not sure if right choice but I was fed up with operations. I'm not on call anymore so that's a big plus.
>>
What's the problem with Windows?
>>
>>109139951
Nothing, it's just Americans screeching because they have no rights so MS shits up their version of the OS with bloat.
>>
>>109134781
I build custom Enterprise ISOs using NTLite that I use to strip all the telemetry, bloat, and disable hibernate from the get go, and then I create a shitton of group policies that both comply with my company demands and disable all the retarded shit that Windows does.
>>
>>109139951
Four different UIs? Pop ups? Ads? Settings which do nothing? Lag? Shit just breaking? Where do you want to begin?
>>
>>109134781
In constant fear. But the software I support is like twice as buggy as fucking Windows, so it's the least of my concerns. If the problem is with Windows, I can tell the user to go waste their time trying to reach MS support, which is always fun.
>>
>>109140257
>and then I create a shitton of group policies
>Next Windows Update re-enabled them
Nothing personal, SysAdmin, but GPO hasn't been respected since 8.
>>
>>109140845
GPOs are applied at every login.
gpupate runs every 12 hours on all work stations
All updates are managed by me and are rolled out in waves.
all our builds are 23H2.
I am currently working on an upgrade path to 26H2. only 4 machines have it. they are my daily and test rigs.

>>109134781
I understand the OS. I know it's quite shocking, but once you understand how the OS you're using works, you'll know how to deal with it's issues, and you'll find that the biggest complaints people have stem from the lack of understanding on how to deal with them.

Desktop Linux isn't going to save people from Windows if they won't be willing to learn how desktop Linux works. They may have a better OOTB experience, but the moment they encounter an issue that requires any form of understanding or willingness to learn anything, they'll be back in the same spot they were before. It's not an OS issue, it's a PEBKAC issue.
>>
>>109134781
I believe they might have it very easy. Everything already exists, you just use it.
New machine. Install winblows, run a script to automatically install long list of software via winget, configure some remote management shit, done.
What is there to worry about?
>>
>>109141765
>What is there to worry about?
People not switching to Linux, or even worse, not engaging in meaningless online OS war arguments. Why else would you want to make threads like these on /g/?
>>
>>109134781
>work allows personal choice of machine, as long as it can connect to the NAS
>choose windongs machine
>use Search Everything
>Mac users have to use and dig through multiple folders to get/see X
>I just ask my assigned staff to comply with the folder structure and to rename my files accordingly
>they now also use Everything
I live fast.

I work at a bank. At home, I use NixOS, which I configured to exactly how I like, using hardware I consciously chose to fit what I use my computer for. However, at work, I'm stuck using Enterprise W11, tied to a thin client. It often freezes, breaks legacy programs like our teller manager or wire transfer system, and even "native" programs such as Outlook or Word take upwards of 45 seconds to open. It is near unusable across the board.
>>
>>109140719
You forgot settings hidden within menu with menu within menu with different name for the same stuff.
>>
>>109134781
It's really not that hard of a job. That's how. You punch in the clock and move the fuck on. It's purely soulless cancer, but so is all IT janny work.
>>
>>109142562
He cleaned his room some time ago, but it's probably cluttered again since he's a lazy bastard.
>>
>>109134781
I ask the same thing of people who use Macs. MacOS is a clusterfuck compared to Windows
>>
>>109135494
In fact there are two things you can infer from that fact. The first is like you said, that I weigh over 200 kilos. The second is that I don't actually know how much a kilo is.
>>
>>109134781
I use it at work (sysadmin for a medium business) out of necessity due to the software we use at work. It helps remind me every day how much I appreciate Linux
>>
>>109134781
I threatened to quit if I didn't get the position as linux admin.
I'm not the linux admin.
>>
>>109143102
>>109143384
funny that people instantly know which room this is lmao
>>
>>109134781
I own my house free of a mortgage, I own a corvette, I own my ex-gf's house and pay her rent because she has my kids, I bought my mom and dad a house, I own a maybach as a daily driver... what more do you wanna know?
>>
>>109134781
>>109143899
I'm actually in this thread because I want to play some gaymes again and HOLY compared to the Mac portable experience (or just portables in general) I forgot about all the chores and price my god. I'm just going to lump in PCs in general as well
>having to use Windows 11 at all, and everything else is going bye bye or "install the patch bro"
>good PC ($$$$), monitor ($$$), peripherals ($$)
>hooking all the shit up, cable managing, and having it be a permanent fixture on your desk
>literally everything needs a secondary fix
>"did you read the Windows 11 debloat guide?"
>"did you install the BetterSearch(TM) program?"
>"did you install a different browser because IE sucks and then install a config and extensions for that browser?"
>don't use ANYTHING that comes with Windows, just install all this other shit and make sure anything labeled a feature or cloud is turned off
There's definitely more but these were the immediate ones I noticed. I am seriously starting to understand why normies prefer gaming consoles over PCs. There is still so much shit to do, and pre-builts still suck ass! Also, RAM is fifty quadrillion dollars! What the fuck has happened?
