Huawei, SMIC, YMTC, and CXMT all rely on existing ASML DUV machines. The new MATCH ACT(H.R.8170) would bar the servicing and maintenance of these machines in China, effectively making them unrenewable. All chinese chips manufacturing including DDR5 will be severely limited and likely become completely dead soon
>>
>>109137241
how likely is HR8170 to pass? how likely is enforcement if it is?
>i want cheaper storage and ram prices now

Good, at the end, more competition is good for consumers.
>>
>>109137241
Based. China should NOT be allowed to make cheap chips. High prices MUST continue to ensure US markets continue to rise.
>>
>>109137241
How can Trump blockade a Dutch company from doing something?
It's not like he can ban their products in the US.

Based move would be forcing them to open up and invalidate their US patents, so US companies can build their own lithography machines.
>>
>>109137648
Europe is a colony of the usa. If usa says not to do business the euros will say yes master
>>
They'll come up with something better obviously like they always do, which is great news
>>
>>109137648
Those machines have US patents and if they don't comply the US government can just blacklist ASML from doing business with anyone since they all rely on SWIFT
>>
>>109137669
Retard, do you know what a colony is

Anyhow afrimerica is becoming irrelevant and will be kicked out soon as it keeps losing, including their ugly plants here in europe like merz, fuck knows where you mutts pulled that ugly thing out from
>>
>>109137672
>can just blacklist ASML from doing business with anyone
I would love to see what happens when they say fuck it we will stop selling to you and sell to China.

The US might literally invade Europe as cope.
>>
>>109137748
Could not invade much smaller iran.
>>
>>109137707
Trump says for Dutch slaves not to do business with China regarding the tech then they say yes master you dumb retard. Usa dictates and colony europe says yes master every time.
>>
>>109137241
The usa is playing with fire, if even 5% of china industry moves to support russia the entire western system that has been operating since the 1971 fall of bretton woods will go to shit at gigaspeed.

>>109137672
Correct but on the great scheme of things kicking china out of semiconductors means they will need to push in other ways with ukraine war open and so does the iran shitshow means they will push from there.

Not sure what long term planners in the usa are thinking, this actually forces china to openly support AI development as autists using nvdia cards for local LLMs = massive consumer market for smuggling commercial consumer grade chip.

It would put china in the position of both openly help russia and also support open AI development for shaddy purposes.

I mean i kind of get the usa pov but at the end of the day meme chips mean nothing if china outproduces usa steel by 20x and decides to put a small percentage of that to helping russia or iran.

Why doesn't China just make their own?
>>
>>109141052
They will. ASML will then have lost a customer. The USA will have had a few more years of monopoly/oligopoly returns. BTW WW2 destroyed industries in Euroasia, which bailed out the failing USA.
>>
>>109137241
US business strategy never was about doing better, it was about sabotaging everyone else.
So basically this >>109139477 because specifically being led by USA biblical retardation.

nah america is the only useful ally because america is the only country that buys things.
china is the center of the world when it comes to manufacturing, but chinese people don't by buy stuff (except chips it seems), so every single country that allows chinese imports ends up being in a trade deficit, which fucks up the value of the countries currency (the US dollar is just built different).
the us is going to fall apart anyways, we are in the "weak people create bad times" phase of the cycle.
I want to say that china is the winner in the end of this, but they really really really really want to invade taiwan, and it's pretty much destined to be a shitshow. And china has poor demographics. So china is going be another one of the many countries that are going to suffer from the fact that nobody is having kids (unless they do something crazy like forced pregnancies / pay people a lot / allowing mass immigration because US turned into a shithole and somehow china is better).

Good. Euros should suffer. And die in the heatwave because they can't buy ACs, also not being able to afford it because of high chip prices.

Yeah, sure, two weeks right?

How many times has this happened now?
>>
>>109145713
It's not really strong arming, it's a game of chicken with a retard. What you going to do? Swerve and let the retard get his way or both die in a crash? Obviously the only straight answer is to both die in a crash out of principle, but the EU politicians are a bunch of fags. So Trump always wins by default, not by relative strength, but by relative retardation.
>>
Why can't we just 3d print RAM or cut the copper ourselves at home

Oh there's definitely still those that know and care in the US. The problem is that those people which cared and understood, have all been very effectively removed from their key positions in the US government and administration by Trump and co. And caring and understanding means jack all if you can't actuate on it.
>>

>the fuck jan gonna do
Stop selling EUV machines to Intel/Nvidia for their US foundries and instead direct them to new EU-based foundries built on government subsidies to attract the likes of TSMC to Europe.
>>
>>109146076
The light source is from the US and they have a lot of engineering there too. EU can say "no service to China, then no service to anyone" and then the US says no LNG for you. Then EU can buddy up with Iran for LNG, etc etc.

There are retard strategies to counter Trump's retard strategies. The end result would be everyone, including Americans, would be utterly fucked.
>>
>>109146076
lol
lmao
ASML depends on a lot of US patents and IP, Europe is basically a US vassal state, and finally the EU will never pony up the money needed to actually build out fabs, they only do token subsidies. They are an utterly unserious continent when it comes to tech (and basically anything else).
>>
>>109146700
>ASML depends on a lot of US patents and IP
This is some weird 4chan myth by people who can't count (ie. 4chan).

The NSF EUV program was only a tiny part of the EUV development history. Development was transferred to industry entirely decades ago. The most difficult technology in modern EUV is from ASML in the Netherlands, the scanner. The light source was from Cymer, which they bought and was the biggest reason EUV kept getting delayed and why to this day there are big yield and throughput problems.

The US provided the worst part of EUV and ASML owns every patent for it.
>>
Whats stopping china just making there own?.
>>
>>109146851
Doesn't change what I said, ASML is subject to US export controls due to IP and licensing restrictions. And in any case, why don't they just develop their own version of everything from the US, if it's so unimportant? Then they could do as they please.... Except they still can't due to the other factors, namely Europe being a US vassal.

IS from Cymer and is still made in the US. ASML will never be able to just cut themselves off from the US.
>>
>>109146076

How's he wrong? Tell me everyone isn't obese wearing chink polyester with glysophates, HFCS and seed oils in our food retarded believing it's better here?
>>
>>109147349
Vice versa too. EU can cripple the world wide semiconductor industry just as easily as the US if they were willing to be retarded. Unfortunately they are not, so the US wins by default.

The natural ability to be retarded is the true strength of the US.
