how is this possible how is my resume this bad? ive had it looked over by a professional who charged me $200 a session

if only I had a FAGMAN job. Then I could have lots of salary. Health insurance. Dental coverage. I could gain the Google 40 pounds from acting like a shitty animal and hoarding free snacks all day. My life would be so different if I worked at FAGMAN with all the other FAGMAN employees from prestigous Ivy league high caste american societies. It would be so cool to be affluent from how much salaries I get at FAGMAN to make FAGMAN softwares all day for 80 hours a week salary job.

A job I applied for two years ago has come open again. It wasn't listed during those two years so I assume they hired someone and that person is now leaving. It's an Application Security job and I have pretty deep knowledge of their primary tool, having worked on site with the developers of the scanner. I'm pretty demoralized and have been training recently for simulation tech, not cybersecurity, so not sure if I'll bother applying or not. It would be nice to be able to recharge my nearly depleted bank account but a two year gap seems like total resume death.

You've been listening to sweet MSP lies. You'll get to do all the "cool stuff" along with all your helpdesk shit, for helpdesk pay. That will continue until you realize you have been had, and no actual non-MSP will let you touch anything but more helpdesk shit if you try to job hop. Helpdesk always leads to more helpdesk.

Nearly all IT jobs can be automated, and society's top venture capitalists and business experts have spent at least a decade throwing everything they have at making sure most of the old jobs no longer exist. Now, the remaining jobs have so many applications from people like me (and also Indians) that nobody actually reads the applications, so companies are unable to hire people like you.

On top of this, economically, every business's foremost priority is reducing their wage bill by any means necessary. This sometimes means automating away webmasters and things, but it also means never hiring anyone new, never teaching any employees new skills that would result in higher wages for them, and deciding that AI is a really useful technology purely because it allows more and more jobs to be removed.
>>
>>109143167
how do I cope?

I want to just give up, and feel okay being a neet. I want to accept that I no longer have a chance. I see so many people casually going along with the ride, knowing it's hopeless, they seem to be enjoying it even, because they gave up on hope. I too want to give up on hope, can anyone here teach me?
>>
>>109143195
What are you hoping for? It's okay to hope for realistic things. In my old job, a guy who was a contractor for the external company that was taking over my job (after the company that bought us out abolished every responsibility I had that required any skill that wasn't doable by literally anyone) told me that he'd been working for this contractor for years, and it has booms and busts. At some point, somewhere in the world, a third-party contractor will slip up and completely destroy a company, and then all the companies that fired their old workers will decide they want to hire them back. It'll be a bad time for contractors and a great time for employees. These big switches apparently happen every 3-4 years.
>>
>>109143218
I'm hoping for a good job and a good life, and bringing wealth and comfort to my family, having enough surplus wealth to throw my dad an overdue retirement party, being able to travel, to experience the world, to not regret wasted time and years or not having tried hard enough. I want to give up on hope and accept my current condition.

I got my old job, where I eventually was able to buy a shitty house, when I was 29, and /g/ is full of broccoli-haired toddlers who are younger than that, so maybe you are one of those. There's still time. But there isn't any single guaranteed way to get any of the things you're asking for, so you're just going to have to try lots of things and see which one turns into a success.

Nah, I'm exactly one month from turning 29, just like you. I've held a job 2017-2020 in safety, it had really really shit pay, but in hindsight it was the best I could've had unlike modern jobs. I would gladly take it again. I then went to school to get a degree, and came out the other side into this nightmarish industry. Your advice about trying lots of things and seeing what sticks makes sense, but the current job market seems to be ultra-demanding. I wish I got into a trade.
>>
>>109143405
>I'm exactly one month from turning 29, just like you.
You're young! That job I talked about, I got it when I was 29, in 2017. I am 38 now. When I was your age, I had previously held one IT job for about four months, and other than that I had sold printer toner and worked in a factory. Things do get better. They have subsequently got worse again for me, but good things do happen and that is why I have hope.
>>
Why can't they hire people part-time and have them work 20-25 hours a week and put the office in a shitty town with cheaper living. Places that only cost $15-$17/hr to live with roommates. A lot of the US actually.
>>
>>109143490
They already put offices in corporate parks outside of major cities where its cheaper. Problem is that if its a successful enough business, it tends to cause the local prices for everything to skyrocket as they become a major economic force in the area. That's basically how "Silicon Valley" became what it is today.

Should work the federal job and try to get into a role that requires a security clearance. Once you have that, many private sector jobs open to you that aren't accessible by h1bs. They also tend to pay more. The trick is that you can't request a security clearance as a private citizen. A government agency or contractor has to apply for one on your behalf when you're in a role that requires it.
Of course if you have something in your background that's criminal, you'll want to avoid doing this.

There are 8 billion humans on the planet and nowhere near 8 billion jobs, even once you factor in all the useless make work bullshit. The moment we became a global economy and started including the thirdies, it was over, regardless of resume or skills.

The layoffs will continue until somebody nukes China or India or until the first world bans thirdies from its respective hemispheres.
>>
>>109149298
Or the first world and the third world reach an equilibrium with each other.
>>
>>109149305
It'll never happen without dragging everybody down into the morass of being poor and destitute forever, Anon. The entire first world put together is only about a billion people, you can't reach equilibrium between 1 billion and 7 billion and sustain the quality of life that the 1 billion has had up until now, it dilutes tremendously just as a basic function of mathematics.

The only way humanity continues to advance, that technology continues to grow, that we ever make it to space to exploit new resources, is it the third world resigns itself to staying poor so that the civilized world can continue to bring the human race all the fruits of civilization. More likely though, they'll just have to be killed for the greater good and removed from the food chain, as they're not going to want to resign themselves to their corner.
>>
>>109149321
The world is not zero-sum like that. In your view there's this finite pool of wealth sitting there, but in reality it's people who created that wealth without whom we'd still be cave-dwelling ooga-bungas.
>>
>>109149385
The world is zero-sum and will continue to be so long as humans exist, not because there's a finite amount of distributed wealth but because we establish ourselves in hierarchies and the classless, property-less society that socialism promised would require us to stop being human in order for it to work. Life is never going to be fair, resources are never going to be fairly distributed. We all have a vested interest in keeping thirdies poor and destitute and away from us, to dilute society in the way you suggest flies in the face of basic human nature and it had to be societally forced just for it to get this far without people beheading each other in the streets.

We are still those cave-dwelling ooga-bungas in every way that matters. Technology has advanced but humanity has not changed one bit in the last 10,000 years and its not going to. The road to utopia is paved with racism, blood and treasure, not with understanding or fairness. Always has been.
>>
>>109149449
hierarchies dont matter as long as the quality of life for everyone keeps improving, the problem is that it's going down significantly and rapidly for the bottom class, and so is mobility.
>>
>>109149449
>The road to utopia is paved with racism
oh you're a stupid libtard
>>
>>109149542
The quality of life is going down for everyone except the top 1%, not just the 'bottom class'. The last major improvement in everyone's quality of life was 35 years ago when we hit the Dot Com boom. If you're talking about practical gains rather than just the invention of the internet, you have to go back to 1905 or so during the upswing of the Industrial Revolution, since the post-war boom was really only good for Americans, Europe and Asia were still rebuilding.

>Hierarchies don't matter
Anon, we don't have hierarchy-less societies. Ever. There are none. Never have been. We don't even know what that looks like, because its never been attempted and it never will. Hierarchy-less human society is one where we stop being communities altogether and move away from each other like lone hunters rather than pack/tribal animals. The quality of life of everyone would sink down to the potential of what one single person working alone can accomplish. The moment you start forming a tribe, a family, or any situation with more than one person, you have a hierarchy. Its endemic to human society at its basest level and we can never get away from it.

>So is mobility
By design. The less people who have economic or social mobility, the more productive we become as a species overall. Any which way you slice it, we can never have a situation where the majority of people alive are the more powerful, wealthy, or influential - the overwhelming majority of work that needs to be done is humdrum or banal. Trash collectors, resource miners, product builders. Wealthy and influential positions come from the concentration of wealth and status from many people under a single person, and by definition can only ever be a minority of positions.
>>
>>109149449
>we establish ourselves in hierarchies and the classless, property-less society that socialism promised would require us to stop being human in order for it to work. Life is never going to be fair, resources are never going to be fairly distributed.
All true. However it does not follow that keeping a group of people poor will make us better off.
How will you keep them poor, anyway? Even if you block all immigration and trade, that does not stop the engine of innovation, it only slows it down. If their governments protect individual rights at all, you have to go in there with military force and repress them.
The reality is that we all become better off when we allow people to act in their self-interest. Americans benefited from Henry Ford mass-producing cars, just as they benefited when the Japanese exported better and cheaper cars. Increasing the talent pool will not make us poorer, and though there are valid concerns about multiculturalism we can still trade across borders and both win.
Oh well, who is John Galt?
>>
>>109149616
>How will you keep them poor?
They started poor. Just stop sustaining them and let them starve, their societies will sort themselves out or stop existing. You don't have to block immigration and trade, immigration and trade are not part of the natural state. Just stop allowing immigration and trade. Close the borders, build a wall, shoot anyone who comes near it. People are very risk-averse, they'll stop coming anywhere near your country entirely on their own. Trade on the other hand actually requires you to offer a product. Stop doing that.

>You don't have to block immigration and trade [...] Just stop allowing immigration and trade
????
>Trade on the other hand actually requires you to offer a product. Stop doing that.
What if people want to buy something produced across the border? The economic law of comparative advantage means that, even if country A is better at producing everything than country B, it still benefits both to trade, since it allows country A to focus more production in areas where it has a greater advantage.
They will just trade with each other anyway, building wealth whilst your self-sufficient country gets left in the dust.

>So did we
How do you think we got rich, genius? Our ancestors consolidated the wealth of the entire planet under a comparitive minority of nations by killing the natives and subjugating their countries under the guise of Empire. Moreover, there were less humans back then to distribute the consolidated wealth between, only about a billion people total, with three-quarters of it concentrated in what we know as the modern third world, contributing their wealth so that the first world could become prosperous.

>They will not starve
They will. We passed the conditions for Malthusian Collapse almost a century ago. Without nitrogenated fertilizers and international aid, we go back to only being able to sustain the billion or so people we were sustaining before, which means seven billion people are going to starve. With eight billion here, we would strip the land bare, fish out the rivers, hunt all the game, within a month of the system that sustains us collapsing, even regionally. You can see what that looks like by observing what happens in a nation when society breaks down, E.G. Kosovo under the blockade, Russia during the Red Revolution, etc. People literally eat each other alive and dig up the recently dead for meat.

>It takes brute force to stop people...
It took brute force to initiate it. Just stop forcing people to behave in a liberal, pro-multicultural manner. Allow people to be openly racist, allow authorities to look the other way on hate crimes. Everything else will sort itself out naturally when you stop forcing people to coexist and allow people to go back to short, brutish and violent.

>What if people want...?
They'll have to go without. Thirdie society will collapse on its own if left alone long enough, just let it happen. If people want things, they can make them domestically and market them the same way.

>the post-war boom was really only good for Americans, Europe and Asia were still rebuilding.
The boom in socialism and the welfare state massively improved quality of life in Europe, and Japan's post-war recovery is regularly described as a "miracle": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_economic_miracle

Economics campaigner Gary Stevenson loves to tell a story about how his grandmother was growing up in London in the 1920s, in the richest city in the world, and several of her siblings died of tuberculosis, a disease which only kills poor people. Then, her son, his dad, was able to buy his own house while working as a postman. The mid-20th century was good for basically everyone.

Okay Walmart is starting to hurt my feet, how do I get The Job?
I have a two year software engineering degree and most of a four year degree in the same but no one ever quite hired me back when I graduated despite one of them telling me I scored higher on the abstract reasoning meme than the one they decided to hire (he had a four year degree though)
I almost went to a "code bootcamp" to get up to speed on whatever, which was going to be both free and recruiting me into a job, but it turns out the reason they were recruiting in the middle of the great plains for competent programmers is because they were recruiting for banks/corps in megacities who need probably COBOLslaves to work or just sit around 60 hours in the dungeon for hundreds of thousands a year so they can "feel secure" having their server alchemist within boomershout distance. And I moved here for a reason and shan't move back.
The only remote work I've EVER been able to get was for a credit card company in the nearest city where they needed me to be available to come in in case the internet went down (it's fiber though?) and I quit that because it was constant ceaseless all day spam customer service calls from "low credit individuals".
A decade and a half of applying to remote data entry jobs when they show up and they never get in touch despite me being obviously qualified, having previous in-person experience from an office position, and so on. I get it's high demand work and full of spam applicants but why even list it on Indeed at that point?

I also tried to shake the boss man's hand one time.
At a near-bankrupt manufacturing company I worked in the warehouse for, I tried to pitch the exec that I would redesign a replacement for the terrible godawful unbelievably bad inventory/order construction software we had, for like 50k/year I'd build it and I would have even gone back to my old povertybux salary after and also maintained it as needed for them, it was just glorified Excel + backend with some special functions, they were paying thousands a month for the scamware, and the exec (in from California to save the day!) just laughs at me and says "oh no that's so unrealistic that's not how it works, I know, I used to manage teams, not just teams of developers, I was the one who managed teams who managed teams of developers, and that's simply not how software works" and brushed me off while the company continued to bankrupt itself with bullshit fees and bank debts accumulated to try to get business in novel industries, but "make sure to save money by reusing brown packing paper" and he got them some Canadian investors to further hollow out the shell of the thing and fucked off to some other state with his weird marital-tensions wife who kept trying to get me to agree with her against him on the one random occasion I for some reason met her.
And if that company still somehow exists they're still paying that bullshit thousands a month for the most broken shit ever that wastes a quarter of all warehouse employee time, and thus more company money.
For something I was intimately familiar with all of our practical use cases for through actually using it, already knew the entire team using it and could just talk directly about what they would want to change or add, and I could have just built it in...anything really, Perl and XML, in under a year.
>>
>>109156512
Entire teams of Californians would have to bid and go through an elaborate design process on what I can code in under a year and stretch it out over multiple years. Elite geniuses too, apparently. Despite the design being entirely straightorward and obvious.
The worst part is it's not even some simple bruised ego or missed opportunity for me. Poverty and irrelevance suits me because it's peaceful. But it's that this guy with a great personality who was really a positive force as a manager overall and was always trying to improve things was still SO brainwashed by business school doctrine despite being late middle aged that he absolutely fucked away the chance for a huge timesave that would have made the money back probably within the first year of it being commissioned, let alone finished, just in the time savings and lack of license fees and extra fees paid to the scam devs to add tiny "features" that are like five lines of code even object oriented. Move or add an existing button to a new screen, type of thing.
I hate that the big man in charge COULD NOT see a world where he didn't bleed the company out to scammers, not even despite, but BECAUSE of his previous very important and high-level management of software projects. Everything must either be an unreliable hack or involve an entire company, there is no such thing as code that simply functions. And I haven't checked up on the company but all of those poor bastards might have actually lost their jobs there because of the fucked expense margins after working so hard and learning to manufacture new things and run various new state of the art assembly machines.

Up until the dawn of agriculture, humans existed in highly egalitarian groups where decisions were made via consensus, without hierarchy. A stable hierarchy-less society would very much be social, and is not only possible, but many anthropologists would say is the most practical social mode for humans, historically.

There exist horizontally organized societies currently, and some have existed sporadically since the dawn of agriculture, though relatively sparingly.

I’d recommend expanding your horizons a little before making broad sweeping statements about what’s endemic to human society as your claim is not factually informed.

I'm also in the fortunate position where I can go back and have it paid for out of the inheritance I have from one side of the family, but we're not so well off that I want to just throw away 40k to be in the same position I started out in. I had a comfy but soulless WFH job for 2 years that I really wanted to quit but I earned money doing basically nothing so I couldn't bring myself to do it. Fortunately was made redundant a week ago and got a nice severance of 6 months salary. Now I don't know what to do though. I am not looking forward to interview humiliation rituals.

Not a fancy job at all, just europoor job terms are quite good especially if it's due to redundancy i.e. not ragequitting

>>
>>109172442
noooo you can't think like that :(
also never mention you're actively studying in an interview (unless its for an internship / newgrad role). that gives interviewers the 'ick.
>>
I don't even know why I'm writing this anymore.
I'm a 2024 B.Tech CSE graduate and I've been trying for almost two years. I applied to tech and non tech roles. It hasn't just been rejections. I've been scammed, ghosted after clearing interviews, and even ghosted after completing onboarding. Every time I think my life is finally moving forward, something goes wrong.

I have health issues, I'm stuck in an orthodox family, and I feel trapped in my own home. I don't want to get married. I just wanted to become independent and build a life for myself.

I had so many plans. I wanted to improve myself, fix my life, and make my family proud. Now I don't even have the energy to try anymore. I'm completely burnt out and I honestly don't have any hope left.

I know people will say "keep trying," but it's hard to believe things will get better when every opportunity ends in rejection, scams, or being ghosted.

I'm not posting this for sympathy. I just want to know if anyone else has been through something like this and somehow made it out. If you have, how did you keep going when you had nothing left in you?

I didn't really get an internship throughout my entire CS degree, and neither did my classmates.

My brother just got a degree in data science and landed an internship pretty quickly. They're already talking about hiring him there.

I've always heard about the importance of these [internships/jobs], but if it's real, at least I can get a recommendation at the company I'm at now, after months of working there for free.

Unironically, I enjoyed studying for this position, it covers a lot of ground, it's just that I don't think I actually have the IQ for it.

in burgerland we have to live code shit during interviews. they also grill us about programming topics, like
>how would you do x in y scenario
>whats the benefit of using x over y
>what pattern would fit here and allow you to easily do z

same boat except for me its where the fun began, I got on some OCD meds now I'm hooking up with a girl half my age and doing some remote work as I code for my own projects til I eventually start my own business.

Had an interview yesterday. They may have asked for Airflow and I must have mistaken it for Airtable.
There were noticeable awkward silences as well. It would be really weird if they didn't decide to disqualify and deep down may have thought I was a retard while smiling at me.

Is becoming a script kiddie more profitable nowadays? I feel like with 0 connections and living in a shithole where I am it's more realistic than getting a job

I also took quite a while to get my first job however I was 30... This economy is shit even worse if you are older. You have to keep trying but I found it much easier once I started going to conferences. I hate those people there but they cant refuse you over email and that gets you a binding agreement. Also find some group activities doesnt matter what sports, cooking, gamejam whatever anything that connects you to others. That helps against the doom. You dont have to talk all I did is run up and down in the team but you feel like you do something. Helps build motivation to try newer things.
>>
>>109172841
they do test you in Germany you cant just claim AWS on your cv and pass the test. However I met too many people (not just jeets) who clearly lied and somehow passed the filter idk how. I guess if you are social enough they dont care.

>I found it much easier once I started going to conferences.
You mean some sort of hire on the spot stuff? Man you americans got it good.
>>
>>109174206
not a american. Point is going to field events such as a physics conference and asking for jobs there they usually dont have the HR staff. Same thing about industry events like a sensor conference they have a small section for job seekers with the team members. You dont have to be from the field just have somewhat interest in it. Its not a guaranteed hire just a first connection and a human reading your cv.

Thinking of switching jobs, how's the job market doing nowadays? I'm an industrial printer/AV field tech and it pays pretty well so I'm thinking of maybe branching to biomed tech, but I intended to be a Sysadmin, I already have CCNA and a networking diploma and 2 years into CS bachelors before I dropped out after getting recruited so I wanna know how you guys are doing.

Consider building automation (HVAC controls):
Requirements:
>Smart enough to know networking and programming
>Retarded enough to do networking and programming sitting on a 5 gallon bucket in a cold/hot dirty construction site, half the time on the roof
You wont get rich but job security in spades:
Pandemic happens:
> Schools/office buildings want to stop recirculating air
>Hospitals need pressure controls set up for isolation rooms
AI happens:
>Datacenters need us to implement complex automation sequences to keep the data halls cool

in the 1920s TB killed everyone, because there was no treatment. apparently one quarter of all deaths in europe were from TB. its treated by antibiotics which were only discovered in the 40s.

Also, Gary Stevenson is a retard and knows absolutely nothing about economics.

I'm the poster who occasionally blogposts about being recently hired as a "Service Desk Analyst" and finding out on my first day that I'm doing customer service for smart meters with Indians and literal refugees from unironic warzones. I'm on my fourth week in the job and I still haven't been put to work yet. The team is very short-staffed and I have offered to start since I've passed all the training, but they can't let me start because the Indians in India haven't created my account yet for the ticketing system. Most hilariously, when the next round of immigrants and ex-convicts start work, I will go back to training with them for a bit. They are starting on Monday. I don't think I'm ever going to help an actual customer with their smart meter.

the only good one on there. it means youre an elf or fey. the anglo saxons had names like aelgifu and aelfwine, aelfric and aelfred, all elven-reverential names, before the feudal machine and continental politics wiped those aspects away from them. used to be pretty based if you ask me. now that white people are all larpers it's coming back (this is a well established thing of course by now)
