why they do it bros
>>
Everything good or bad they do it because greed has consumed them.
I mean, they remove features and "somehow" prices go up...
>>
>>109173081
Eventually to force drm on usbc driven audio so you cant even listen to shit unless its been paid for via some subscription
>>
because normies walking into a store are wowed by a super thin phone, not by a headphone jack

No one used it, every faggot uses their speakerphone.
>>
>>109173143
To be fair airpods are so good now I am cool with it…

But I liked touch id more because dont have to worry about looking at camera, I could unlock phone while reaching in pocket and it would be unlocked by the time I pulled up the phone in one smooth motion. I miss it
>>
>>109173081
To sell disposable Bluetooth earbuds
It's transparent obvious
>>
>>109173112
I'm still yet to see a phone that is too thin for a headphone jack
>>
>>109173150
I miss weird outlier features in older phones. Like i used to be able to two finger swipe to drag the next video on youtube onto screen. Shit was whack.
>>
>no we can't have an audio jack because the phone is too thin
>Yes we can and will ruin the phone's profile to add 35 massive lenses that stick out from the back
>>
>>109173189
you replied to shit bait sorry to tell you
>>
I cant even find phones to buy that still have a 3.5mm jack. Sure some cheap $150 shit lying around but I mean mid and high range stuff; they all seem to be dropping it, even Motorolla who have been pretty supportive of keeping it around.
>>
>>109173081
Back in the dumbphone days, every phone brand uses their own proprietary charging port that doubles as a headphone port.
So we're going back to square one.
>>
>>109174769
if you're buying a mid- or high-end phone then you obviously have more money than sense so it's not surprising that they expect you'll splash out on a bluetooth headset
>>
>>109174821
NTA, I have more money than sense and bought the sony xperia that does have one. Too bad for the americans.
>>
>>109173081
ANC is way more important for headphones these days. Airpods Max is a great headphone and has lossless even. And then you use your speakers for analytical listening because you're not a child living with your parents.
>>
>>109174821
Unfortunately for your ego, it IS possible to both not be poor and have good sense.
Sorry you got filtered anon.
>>
>>109173081
Cheaper for them by removing internal electronics and more expensive for you since you need an extra cable that costs several more times than it did to produce.

Now that Bluetooth earbuds are everywhere nobody's crying for them to be added back, even though wireless audio degrades quality by nature (and Spotify/YT audio quality already fails to surpass bog-standard MP3s)
>>
>>109173081
The USB-C adapter is simply better quality. Simple as. It's more modular too
>>
>we need to remove the jack so we can make thinner phones
>don't mind the camera bulge, though
>>
>>109174971
Indeed, it's a pity the physical USB c connector is so much worse than the 3.5mm jack, otherwise USB c would be an upgrade in every way
>>
>>109174971
>Better quality
Nigga I have NEVER had either 3.5mm or 6.35mm jack or input EVER fail on me.
>>
Remember when manufacturers used to add things to phones instead of removing them and pretending they're actually doing us a favor?
Good times.

Only reasons I'm not using a first gen iphone SE is the OS is outdated and the battery's worn out.
Why the hell doesn't anyone make phones like that these days? In a free market there should be choice, no?
>>
I just use bluetooth like everyone who has brains.
>>
>>109175337

I know that Apple killed it to sell their airpods, why the others followed, I still don't know. If Apple's doing it, why not do it too and save money?
>>
Why does my phone have 3 lenses at the back? One big and 2 smaller ones. What are these measurements when I get a photo? Do we multi expose to reach the maximum quality we can from small lenses?
>>
>>109175344
>sounds worse
>need to remember to charge
>becomes ewaste when battery goes
Worst of all worlds. Not to mention the poor value. If I wanted Bluetooth headphones that even begin to approach the quality of the $30 headphones on my head right now it will cost me $100+.
>>
>>109175244
NTA but it failed on mine. Bought cheap Bluetooth earbuds because it was cheaper than getting the headphone jack fixed.
I don't completely hate it tbdesu.
If someone fixed it for free I'd probably switch back but as it stands I'm more than happy.
>>
>>109175386
It's a principle copied from astronomy.
The phone creates a composite image that is a close to the quality you'd reach with a single lens 4-8 times as big.
>>
I actually bought a phone that's not as good as my previous one just so I could get a headphone jack and SD card slot. I haven't had a chance to migrate my music collection to it yet.
>>
>>109175434
imagine being poor
>>
This year I bought my first phone without a headphone jack.
I haven't used the headphone jack on my last 2 phones once, something like 8 years.
The convenience of not having cables beats every Bluetooth shortcoming by a mile.

>>109175434
>>becomes ewaste when battery goes
I've had the same headphones these past 8 years. When the battery went I simply replaced it with a new one. Only had to do this once so far.
>>
>>109175545
You're not very bright are you? Why would I spend more money on something that solves one problem (a cable) but introduces multiple others? Your headphones are shit and you got scammed when you bought them. You got tricked into thinking buying worthless garbage means you're rich.
>>
>>109174769
Now that ROG Phones are out, my last high-end option is Sony, but they haven't officially sold in the US for a couple of gens now, so I'll have to look into band compatibility when the time comes. (That and they're damn expensive.)

>>109174971
>dongles are good actually
No.

>>109175286
The last ten years of phone design have been wretched.
>>
My shitty Chinese phone and my wired headphones work perfectly for their intended purpose. That's blasting Teenage Lobotomy while I am stuck on this fucking bus.
>>
>>109173081
They knew the cattle wouldn't resist so why not drain them of everything they got?
>>
Quick question, if in spite of inflation and everything else I can still get the same wired headphones I bought 10 years ago for the same price why the FUCK would I change my buying habits? Because someone on 4chan calls me poor? Imagine the retard that would start spending more money because of that lmao.
>>
>>109175737
Firefox takes 20 seconds to boot up on my budget phone so I switch to Xperia.
>>
Removing the jack means that they also removed the dac which saves them money.
At the same time, they raise prices.

>>
>>109175366
I just killed Firefox to make this post and it took about 2 seconds to start again. That's not to say I wouldn't rather have the Xperia but the only real reason is the lack of OLED screen on this thing.
>>
>>109175753
They still need the dac for the speakers.
>>
REMINDER

MOTOROLA IS THE ONLY COMPANY MAKING GOOD PHONES WITH JACKS LEFT
>>
>>109175753
Some phones still have DACs. Some don't. This complicates buying dongles. If it's built into your phone you can get a cheaper dongle without a built in DAC.
>>
>>109175968
Sony exists
>>
>>109175770
Your phone has shittier spec than my old phone.
Usually budget phone will run fine for a year and then slow down to a crawl right after the 1 year warranty expires. I heard that it has more to do with battery degradation so I guess that you have to protect the battery.
>>
>>109176046
I've been alright running budget phones for two years before replacement for the last ten years. Getting the battery replaced is no big deal where I live. But I am making more money now. At some point I can just hop on a flight to Hong Kong and pick up a Sony in person. It will be cheaper and faster than importing it.

This will never work, there will always be one way or another to convert it to analog. If they get rid of USB C to 3.5mm adapters, there will be USB C cables for headphones and earphones with replaceable cables, which can simply be wired up to a 3.5mm plug instead. And if they get rid of those, you can get a pair of USB C headphones, open them up, cut the wired going to the drivers, and wire those to a 3.5mm plug.

>>109173112
The shills promised thinner phones, but they have not gotten thinner after removing the headphone jack. The other promise was better waterproofing, which may have happened on iPhone, but Samsung managed better water resistance than that with a headphone jack still there, and even with a removable battery.

Don't believe the shills. It was always a ploy to sell more Airpods. And then everybody else just copies whatever stupid shit Apple does.

Bluetooth is used for remote sensing and is biologically active. They want to make sure you're using something that can read your brain activity and heterodyne inside your skull.
