What is your favourite OS and why?
I hate them all because they are openly antagonistic towards the user
>>109178599Windows because it works
>>109178599Windows on main laptop, its shit but it just works, linux on server/gayming machine, its less shit but not always everything works. No reason to use such a limiting toy os like mac unless you are a boomer or a female in need to boost her social status in retarded countries like the usa.
>>109178599Windows 7, it is perfect. But sadly, you can't use it anymore, so stuck in some arch linuxthing
1. freebsd, sane linux (ubuntu etc), windows 2. everything else999999. macos
>>109178606I love Haiku because it actually treats the user as a first-class citizen :)
>>109178599LFS because it works the way i want it.
>>109178599Windows 10 probably. I keep saying: Windows is a horrible, horrible piece of shit OS, it's an absolute mess and a disgrace to technology, but it's BY FAAAAAAAR the best OS that exists
I actively used windows, Linux, MacOS, FreeBSD at some points, each one for at least a year. Linux is still the bestest since it has the right balance of drivers for stuff + Unix shit I need for programming. I like FreeBSD better as in it's more coherent, but it's more painful to use daily, especially when you have work demands like docker etc. MacOS I simply couldn't get used to, it's too inflexible for me. Generally speaking what I want is a capability-first OS, but none exist that are actually usable and I don't think it'll ever become popular because of inertia and also nobody really cares about that shit anyway.
>>109178599OpenBSD followed by FreeBSD.
>all of these retards saying what but not why
>>109178599ompOS is the best by far> omp stands for OPs Mom's Pussy
>>109179169>cuck license
>>109178599GNU/Linux, but if hardware support on Haiku was comparable (or a BeOS fork like Zeta was resurrected), it would be that.

>>109179893Windows 7 just worked, you have to fight linux from time to time to get it to do what you want. However you always, eventually get linux to do what you want.Once Win10/11 decides to not play ball, the ball will not be played, you will accept whatever dick is being pushed in you.

Lee-nooks because everything is a file and gnome is awesome.
Windows cuz it's the one I know best. Knew how to dig around it's guts ever since I was a kid ricing XP so today it makes more sense for me to gut 11 than to throw away all of that knowledge and tard wrangle Linux for Internet good boy points.Linux is still nice for the things it's been designed to be good at, like a little home server running Proxmox. It's not that I can't use Linux, I'm not willing to use any desktop Linux distros when Windows serves me better in that department.
>>109178599Plan9 so i can larp as a system programmer
>>109179965Tangential but I may as well ask.Does anyone have a copy of their latest source code release. Meaning either the one they published publicly, or the ones behind their registration process. It's strange to me that this was published publicly but I can't find a copy, and their terms have changed now. It's hard finding the latest editions of their builds too sometimes. I only have some of the resources up to SDP release 6.6.Sometimes I think about contacting them but I doubt they'll give approval to an independent hobbyist that just wants to learn more about the system in detail and maybe even port software to it.
