I want to share a simple mod I made for my 8BitDo Arcade Stick.

I added a dedicated Up button with a switch that lets me choose between using the joystick or the button instead of having both active at the same time.

The reason I did this is because I had trouble hitting certain combos consistently. Using the joystick for Up wasn't always accurate enough for me, especially during fast inputs.

I saw that many people either convert their stick into a Hitbox or simply wire an Up button in parallel with the joystick. That works, but both inputs stay active, which I personally don't like.

So I decided to add an ON-ON switch that selects which input is active.

What you'll need:
Soldering iron
Solder and flux
Thin wire
Push button
ON-ON switch
Knife or drill (depending on how you want to make the holes)

For the installation, I disassembled the stick, chose a comfortable position for the new button (using a Hitbox layout as a reference), drilled the holes, and installed both the button and the switch.

For the wiring, I cut the Up signal wire. The motherboard side goes to the center pin of the ON-ON switch. One side goes back to the joystick, and the other goes to the new button. The other terminal of the button is connected to ground.

After testing everything, I put the stick back together.

Now I can switch between normal joystick controls and a dedicated Up button whenever I want, without both being active at the same time.

Maybe this will help someone who's been thinking about making a similar mod.

P.S. This post was made for fun to check if I'll get banned for a post like on Reddit and how quickly.
