DE from 10-15 years ago that was dated even back then.
>>
>>109191287
Debian is alright (for now), but xfce might be broken on arrival. In general my experience with these minimal DEs was meh. They often lack essential seemingly obvious and simple features (although I do realize sometimes it's an entire adventure to make it just werk out of the box) and the worst part is that I discover that during critical moments when I don't have the time on that shit.
So that is why everything besides KDE and GNOME are meme DEs for unemployed people, intended to waste their time on ethernally broken software.
If you have absolutely nothing to do, go ahead and use xfce, rice it as well etc. If you need to get something done, avoid.

A stable and simple experience. Good choice :D

There's a new version of Debian every two years. Where are you getting 9 year old packages? Do you hate updating?

Here is your experience:
>boot first time
>start configuring xfce cause you don’t like the way it looks
>realize it’s missing some critical shit you need
>web search: “debian change how can into desktop environment”
>run sudo tasksel
>select KDE and deselect xfce
>reboot
>justwerks.jpg

>xfce
in for a good desktop experience, no bloat, no crashes, fast

>debian

which is going to end support very soon, and gtk4/libadwaita are even uglier
>>
>>109191287
Tried it for the last 6 months and its utter dogshit….if you want something that just works go for it, but if you want a more dignified experience just use kde
>>
Use Ubuntu, Mint or Fedora. Debian is a server OS and a terrible experience on a personal computer. And yes, I have used debian before. Nothing works ootb and it comes with nothing you need installed. It's ASS and the people who shill it do because they're trans (women trapped in mens bodies) who think the logo is cute and sympathize with the founder (who was a cuck that committed suicide)
>>
nothing much, honestly.
it is just the regular xfce experience, stable, hard to break and actually very intuitive once you take your head out of your ass and decide to learn it unlike other people.
>>
>>109191287
Peak coziness. One thing to look out for is lightlocker. Debian ships the desktop with lightlocker by default, but xfce recently dropped support for light locker. If you try to change the time it takes for your screen to shut off and lock in the power settings menu, it won't work. If you remove lightlocker and install xfce4screensaver, it'll work as intended.
>>
>>109193341
If you need a software center, you shouldn't be using Linux honestly
>>
>>109191287
>What am I in for?
SystemD encouraging compliance with the status quo, and Pajeeta vote manipulation that has already degraded Debian. Sadly, Debian is kill now.

Imagine caring this much about an init system
