You now remember the VCR
>>109191304>You now remember the VCRI haven't forgotten about it.
>>109191304I remember destroying my parents wedding tape
>>109191316You're so edgy
>>109191316You're so down-to-earth
>>109191304no i haven't, i still watch my wrestling tapes
Give me one genuine use case in 2026 that doesn't sound schizo.
>>109191304I kinda regret recycling my standalone ones a few years back and only keeping the integrated CRT TV one. Didn't realize the old ones might be better than what you can buy nowadays.
>>109191636>usecase?None. The only reason to use one is because you already have one and like using it. That's literally all. I already feel this way about my DVD collection even though kekphysicalmedia.rom
>>109191636Having hobby fun with obsolete media. That's it and there's nothing wrong with it.
>>109191636backing up all your tapes to digital storage.
>>109191304I remember the older ones with the tracking buttons
>>109191304it was awesome, and quality was quite good
>>109191636What >>109191675 said.Archiving home recordings (camcorder home movies or old TV broadcasts and commercials) is probably the only usecase a VCR has these days for anything remotely "important", and if you're going to tackle that you'd be wanting a modded S-VHS VCR with TBC for the "best" quality output.Even then, working with analog media today is more of a niche for hobbyists/enthusiasts and archiving things are well within that niche.
I've got a fancy HDMI VCR which is pretty cool. Kind of big though, I keep that one in storage and have a smaller cheapo that I use more often because it's easier to fit under my tv.
have one of these to transfer tapes to dvdrw then rip the dvd on the computer erase the the dvdrw and start again with the next tape.
There was a day that was the last day you would ever put a VHS into a VCR and you had no clue it would be the last time (sure you could do it now or in the future but it would be performative, not genuine)
>>109191304Ive never seen that in my life, what does it do?
>>109191654>The only reason to use one is because you already have one and like using it.This is why my parents do it. They live out in the middle of nowhere with poor tv reception and no internet by choice. They have DVD's too, but they like their old tapes and can pick up stuff through the early 2000's for ten cents apiece at the local secondhand store. Also, most digital stuff doesn't give you full screen anymore on a 3:4.I was floored when my dad showed me his copy of Return of the King Extended Edition in VHS. I didn't realize they kept making them that long.
>>109191636Listening to old EDM mixes recorded on ADAT but playing them via the s-video out into a makeshift 2ch splitter and listening to the static and desync instead
