>>109211069The Asus pulsar monitor enforces DSC and it works only at 75 or higher FPS as it uses DP 1.4. Their 540hz OLED looks fancier and DP 2.1 allows you to disable DSC but it has slightly less text clarity, outside of black e.g. grey you can see the dots and all the OLED Care crap like pixel shift is tedious. The VRR flicker is also noticeable if you use VRR with instable frame rates. Maybe 2gen pulsar will fix some of the issues but at least Asus seems to have trouble already releasing a firmware update to enable 60 Hz pulsar. If you can get the pulsar monitor at a nice price I'd take it over the OLED but I also think latter is over hyped as fuck

It has gotten so bad that physical ownership of the hardware doesn't necessarily even mean you can use it. An example is the Samsung Gear VR.Currently, the device is unusable because Meta discontinued the software that allows it to function. What's worse is that it automatically "updates" with a zero-byte update that essentially bricks the VR headset even if you have the compatible smartphone for the device. Without an elaborate 'hack,' to make the device work, and a firewall on the phone to prevent an update, the device is just a paperweight. Yes, it's 10 years old, and it's really not great compared to the modern VR headsets, but people should be allowed to use it if they own it. All the games, movies, and apps you bought for the platform are basically all GONE, unless you buy a new headset. There was nearly ZERO cost for Meta to keep this running, as it used the same back-end servers for the file servers that updated their current VR headsets. But the existence of it also meant a lot of people didn't "upgrade" to the new headset because it still worked well enough for VR movies. It's already happening with smart speakers, where the Spotify car thing was bricked when cloud support ended, or the Oral-B smart toothbrush was also killed after connectivity was discontinued. Same with certain printers, and device pairing forced incompatibilities. Now imagine the same thing with electric cars, where it auto-updates a bricking update that essentially kills the car from functioning, on a smart TV, or even home appliances.... all because the manufacturers want to force you to buy a new one. It's gonna get worse without comprehensive consumer protection laws, and the whole thing is that physical media is a small sidebar when it comes to how massive the problem is ALREADY!The current reality is that even if you own the PHYSICAL HARDWARE, they can still revoke the functionality of it...

Sony’s PlayStation Terms of Service state that buying a game doesn’t mean you own the software itself. According to the agreement, words like “buy,” “purchase,” and “own” don’t transfer ownership of the game’s intellectual property. Instead, you’re given a license to use it, which can be revoked under certain conditions. That’s why physical game ownership has become a major topic and everyone is fiighting for this
Okay, I think this needs to be said. I hear it repeated often that window's 11 is a memory hog and uses way more memory at idle then Linux. Here's the idle resources used by a fresh install of a fully updated Windows 11 compared to the resources used by a fresh install of a fully updated CachyOS. As you can see the difference in idle memory usage is 180MB. So Windows 11 idle memory usage is practically the same as Arch Linux in KDE. I understand that Windows 11 has issues and I want to see those issues fixed. But when the majority of problems Windows has are just exaggerations of reality it's not helpful. It's almost like there's a faction of people that don't actually want Windows to get fixed but want to scare people into not using it.
>>109211712The 4090 and 5090 use the new 12VHPWR 2x6 pin + 4 connector rated for up to 600w with the standard technically allowing 9.5A per pin so 684w max. Thing is the GPUs don't have any kind of load balancing so the power draw follows the rules of physics that can lead to idiotic imbalanced ampere distributions that leads to overheating of individual pins to the point they melt. Why it happens? Some people fucked up plugging the cable all the way in which is why we have now ATX 3.1 that mitigates this a little by having longer pins but the cable itself, the way it's bend and other factors can still cause ampere imbalance to the point shit melts.
>>109211793I personally don't see the RAM usage argument often in the whole "switch to Linux" debate.I recommend Linux over windows for various reasons.- Linux is snappier and faster on the same hardware.- I get better FPS in games on Linux vs Windows.- Linux respects your privacy, no telemetry, tracking, selling your data, or training models against your will.- Linux and apps are free.

I had a pg27aqn before and the ulmb2 mode looked amazing when you could get steady fps at or above target, but when I tried to play games with it would give me fatigue because of the variable frame rate dropping (I think).540hz oled would be better if you can get 500+ fps consistently across all the games.
My prediction is that AT0 will have 8 graphics tiles, AT3 will have 2 graphics tiles, AT4 will have 1 graphic tile and will be APU only. These tiles will each have 12CU and be identical.AT2 will have 4 graphic tiles with 10CU and these tiles will also be used in the PS6 SOC

>>109213050It's a safe bet, as long as you don't want to play with PT. The only actually good PT card is the 5090, although the 5070 Ti is usable. If you just want to play games, a 5070 non-Ti will be great for the next two to three years. PS6 exclusives will bump up the requirements (and who knows when those will hit the market, considering the likely low PS6 install base due to shortage and pricing), but at this point, "requirements" is more about image quality standards than anything else, since all demanding games use DLSS. There can be some variance in the input resolution required to get subjectively good image quality (e.g., some games/engines look better at 4K Balanced over 4K Performance), but generally speaking a 1080p 60 FPS input is all you need, and you can easily get that on a 5070 even in the most demanding games if you don't insist on max settings and don't mind tweaking a few settings like volumetric fog.

Man my 6650 actually does everything I want out of it in Stellar Blade except that if you put the textures up high enough they don't look like they never popped in then every cutscene transition or scripted event load in it frame time spikes from overloading the bus swapping stuff to stay under 8GB. Hell even Very High textures works with no visible unloaded textures except for stuttering at every traversal loading trigger. What an annoying point in time this shit is.

>>109210062US budget of 800-1K max I want a PC that can run all the most demanding games on steam NATIVELY at high fps with all the options of high end features like dlss/raytracing/etc. I just want to play the most demanding vidya I have on my steam account. I am a complete NOOB when it comes to PC building and this would be my first and I want one thats upgradable but still lasts long enough. I know I'm probably asking for a lot and sound insane but I need help in a multitude of ways. Specifically PC building
>>109218272You cant build a new good pc for mere 1k $32gb ram alone costs 400, 2tb nvme ssd is 250For budget pc's you need to first decide the gpu. A 5070 is best value rn, and theres no cheap >10gb vram nvidia card. 9060 xt 16gb is relatively cheap, but its amd. You dont want low vram cards for longevity.Am5 b850 mobo is standard. Cpu wise theres another big question are you buying a shit tier stuff you plan to replace later, or get a good one now that will last until the platform is upgraded. 7800x3d is value king if you want something to last a long time, 7600/9600 are budget options if you plan to upgade to another am5 cpu later.A generic air cooler will do for the cpu.You want a high airflow case, meshify 3 is good. For ram budget builders go 1 stick of 16gb today, and upgrade to a 2nd stick at same specs later. This allows you to spend only 200$ on ram. Then nvme ssd you need to stick to a 1tb model.Psu you want an atx 3.1 750w, this will come with 1x 12v power cable for gpu and will leave some room to upgrade to higher watt parts later.

>>109217782It's the mobo flexing not the gpu, the riser the $35 case came with was too high to get it to seat to the io cover. That's a hard drive. Also the gpu always looks bent because it has a stepped down frame on the top so it looks a lot more flexed than it actually is.
Damn i love this 250k, why was everyone hating on the arrow lakes? at 200-220 bucks this thing is a fucking steal. It kills everything i throw at it.
>>109217852I have both using the OLED right now as main monitor however I'm the guy with the stuck pixel cleaning. If you run the Pulsar as main monitor or you have only one monitor anyway it's alright. I turned both down to <200 nits and in side by side comparison other than the better blacks and slightly better contrast both are legit in terms of colours but neither can beat a QD-OLED I guess. You'll see BLB and IPS glow on the Pulsar monitor obviously in a dark room. The big advantage of the PG27AQWP-W is that it has free-sync so you arent tied to nvidia, it has DP 2.1 and if you manage to get stable high fps you wont need VRR anyway. With VRR enabled you may see slight flicker but for me this only ever happened in loading screens.
