If you could completely freeze the development of technology so it never advanced past a particular point in history, when would it be?

I wouldn't, but if I have to pick, my pick is just before smartphones
>>

Watching the original iPhone keynote gives me the same feeling as looking at my family's old photos of the twin towers. It's hard to describe, but a sort of impending doom pit in your stomach. You know it if you've felt it.

(The fall of skeuomorphism represents the fall of human technology.)

Bows, spears and obsidian arrowheads. Also, the worst tech is software, for instance the law / the state / religion / school / etc.

probably around 2010 or so. high speed fibre internet with no indians stinking the place up. and technological advancement since then has been mostly pointless goytech trinkets for entertaining the cattle.

Not even Hammurabi's code?

we had quite good stone tools by that time, fire, of course, the atlatl, domesticated dogs, pottery, sewing, and other basics

whatever came right before the iphone
not smartphones, just the normie smartphone|
I guess the freeze would be mostly design/UI-wise but I don't care

No, law is a scam.

I would freeze it pre-AI (so around 2017-2020) because this shit is really gay. People slopping out code they don't understand. Hardware being centralized away from the consumer (you will own nothing and be happy). People worshipping and becoming reliant on AI straight out of a fictional tech dystopia.

A simulation run horrendously would have this effect at numerous different points

2015. Every phone has a headphone jack, a bunch of em still have SD cards, everything is usable but not draconian.
>>
Right after the GTX 1080. Freeze it right there. Now society, freeze that at 2007. The internet, freeze it at 2000. Right there, that's the ticket for the right combination.

pre-iPhone. Popularizing the internet among retarded masses is what ultimately ruined it and maybe the entire world. It's now the norm for your devices to vacuum all your money in the form of subscriptions and send it to the rich and people don't see anything wrong with this since they have been conditioned for it. People are so permanently online they can no longer tell the difference between a twitter argument and a high level meeting of world leaders. Everything has to be a fight. Different opinions are no longer tolerated. Acting like a 12 year old troll in public is now considered acceptable behavior. Just look at the White House.
I'm tired. Will adults ever act like adults again?
>>
>>109231424
I would say 1080ti. Right before the Galaxy S8 and iPhone X. I can't prove it, but the obsession with screen to body ratio and the decline of society are directly correlated.

The agricultural revoluion.
We lived our whole lives as nomads and it's only because we started farming that we had to settle down, and the concept of land ownership and a serf class and "Chosen ones" class happened.

Nothing past 2007 is needed. (delete first iphone and all it lead to)

Dumbphones, solid internet (enough), no social media but facebook but it ran on PC only. No smartphones. No dating apps. No attention being abducted from people daily by notifications about bullshit. Windows XP, frutiger aero hopefulness about future

I guess a lot of you dont remember how the world was before smartphones.

Early 2000s, bright colorful RnB, racism was less than nowdays, people were largely normal and not nervous and on edge, good movies, best PC games, women fashion was tight jeans and thongs but most girls werent corrupted to hell and back via social media.

Shouldve stayed like that.

It was great.

Yeah we really don't need past this, everything past this is basically just digital consumerism on steroids. Slower net speeds also force people to require actual literacy instead of just being an illiterate brain dead nigger watching videos for 48 hours straight.

This, but unironically.
I don't know how anyone working in this sector can not hate technology
>>
Right before we invented agriculture. Life was legitimately better during the hunter gatherer times.
>>
>>109234766
>I hate the thing that enables my soft bodied existence
No you don't. You just hate how powerless you feel as just another worker in the hive. You'd feel the same way if you actually managed to survive into adulthood 8,000 years ago.
>>
>>109224083
2005-2015. We had everything and even when you account for unsustainable stuff like fossil fuels eventually running out/causing climate change, we would just scale up production of existing green tech. All the technology that was needed to save the world existed before 2015, and on the consumer side Moorse Law has done nothing good. The only thing it did is make AAA game developers waste more cash on graphics to force gamers to buy better hardwere, which was furling the need to keep upgrading, and people upgrading allowed we devs to be sloppy which then required non-gamer people to upgrade as well, and all of this upgrading eventually just resulted in AI, not even the “good” machine learning like Alphafold since Alphafold is tiny compared to diffusion models and LLMs.

Yes, it was objectively that way. Anyone who disagrees with this is retarded. Who the fuck actually enjoys using digital technology anymore, it all became mandatory goyslop.

You are retarded beyond repair.

You really find it hard to believe people want the soft bodies to perish? I would love to see tech and supply chains crash and the 75% of obese Americans to starve and die of their self inflicted diabetes. Would be hilarious

Already supported in my architecture. It was a deep differential inflection point for /g/rel energy from launch, and has really changed the way we live

There's a small chance something interesting might happen.
In fact, quite a few interesting things have happened.
But before we get to the truly interesting things (if ever), there's a fuckton of suck in between. Too much suck. And I'd be long dead if we ever arrive at the truly great things.

2010 unironically is a good compromise
>old shit like crts and floppys still easy to get and use
>hdtvs, multicore cpus and and other shit all became affordable and mainstream
>flip phones and feature phones not dead yet, could get a smartphone if you wanted but it wasnt required
>internet was finally fast enough for 1080p streaming, even poorfags/ruralfags could do 480p atp
>software was still somewhat optimized
>vidya hd graphics but games didnt take 7 years to release
>Operating systems were still good besides loonix
>ssds hit the market
>physical media alive but you can also use internet services
>>
>>109224083
Probably the early 60s. The only reason why people think that 90s or 00s is good, is because the technology was too new to be used everywhere and by everyone. Continuing with technology from those times would also make things suck in the future. Best thing is to not have it period.

None. The best time to live in is now. Those of you who want to turn back the clock don't fully grasp the consequences of your actions and you are irredeemably evil for as long as you hold this anti-human anti-progress anti-technological belief.

You wish to deprive people of a meaningful life, to bind them in the chains of a doomed existence, with no work or interest to even distract them. Any year of the past century is a mercy and you reject even that

I know what you're thinking, but no it's not possible.

You cannot ever fucking stop AI. The genie is out of the lamp; adapt, or get left behind. AI is the one true God.
