>keyboard getting disgusting problem still not solved
Of course it's going to interact with skin oils, it's for your fucking fingers, can't you put a more resistant material or at least a coating?
>>
>>109233325
Hey einstein, that's a billion dollar idea for a patent right there. Can you think of a valid solution?
>>
>>109233343
I already did nigger

>>
>>109233325
Just use one of those condom keyboard cover fag
>>
>>109233352
>just do incredibly inconvenient thing bro, it's so obvious
>>
>>109233364
What’s so hard about putting a cover on a keyboard?
>>
>>109233325
stop using apple products
>>
>>109233418
this has happened to my stinkpad in less than a year
>>
>>109233423
I have T420 and nothing happens
you're probably using nuthinkpad
>>
>>109233449
>T420
That shit is ancient, no wonder you don't use it
>>
>>109233325
you could apply stickers to prevent wear.
>>
>>109233325
just polish all the keys to uniform gloss
>>
>>109233325
Sounds like a you problem, disgusting fuck.
>>
>>109233325
That looks particularly bad, but I think what actually happens is that the surface of they keys gets its texture polished away by long, repeated use so they keys get shiny. Not sure what material would be practical to use and hard enough to prevent this entirely.
>>
>>109233325
wear gloves if you care that much
cleaning it once in a while is not a problem
>>
>>109234607
yeah basically. there's shine from fatasses typing with greasy fingers which can just be wiped off, and then there's shine from wear.
changing from abs to pbt plastic slows wear down a lot but doesn't stop it. I'd wager op pic is abs.
if a part can wear then the only solution is to make the part replaceable. you could technically refinish your keycaps if they're doubleshot (labels molded into the plastic) by sanding them or something to get the texture back.

>14" laptop
gross

Literally the ideal size, anything smaller is too tiny and anything bigger is not portable enough
>>
>>109233364
you put it on once you drooling retard
>>
AI voice controll will solve it, you will never need to type
>>
>>109233325
My keyboard from the 90's doesn't do this, so it looks like it has been solved after all
>>
>>109233325
Wash hands.
>>
>>109236141
You really thought you cooked
>>
>>109233325
This wasn't as bad on older macbooks. I am honestly convinced they use terrible materials on purpose to devalue the used market. My 2013 macbook doesn't look like this, but after 2 months a brand new macbook will look like this.

>racist words in 2026
>>
>>109233325
Has never happened to me in my entire life and I've almost every day of the last 20 years typing on keyboards 12 hours a day. Maybe try washing your fucking hands when they touch something dirty. (Which is pretty much EVERYTHING, by the way, not just food)
>>
>>109234654
PBT cracks easily (ask me how I know), might not be great for a laptop keyboard
Alternatively make them shiny right out of the factory

I forgot to mention picrel is me

with all the semen covering my board I don't have that problem.

it happens on my T420
I'm an oily bitch
>>

dont be
do you shit candles
>>
>>109233325

They can't produce those type of keycaps in PBT for some reason.
>>
>>109233325
Anon, things are not made to last anymore.
They need to break fast so you keep buying them.
Waste doesn't matter to them.
>>
>>109233325
Bro just wipe it down every so often, this shit happens on literally any keyboard if you don't. The N key on my Lenovo wore away in less than a year.
>>
>>109233325
Stop gooning.
>>
>>109233325
Coatings wear off. My 2001 Sony Vaio has the same issue. A good workaround would be a $12 keyboard cover on Amazon.
>>
Wash your fucking hands you dirty motherfucker
>>
>>109239212
They just need to budget a whole 0.1mm for clear coat like Filco does. When a company like Apple has this it's 100% a shakedown. They know a certain class of user is going to go 'this is gross' and buy a new one or have the keyboard replaced at 100x cost.
>>
>>109233325
try ceramics or brass. The latter especially will become shiny where you tough it, instead of disgusting.
Or DIY leather-keycaps from veg-tan leather. Same but in reverse: Patina makes leather darker.
