Why the FUCK would you make it asymetrical with two monitors? Also the white man's approach is 4 monitors in quad rice paddy setup

Currently at two 27" 4k monitors, I tried adding a third and didn't know what to put on it. Ended up unplugging it.
what is this early 2000s? nobody uses one monitor who works with computers anymore
>>109235259Try one vertical. Unironically based to have a vertical monitor for some things like chats, terminal, slopshorts, etc.

>>109234993Nobody, and I mean NOBODY who has done actual work on a computer thinks one screen is better than two.
>>109235110>>109235693most of it can be done on one big enough monitor, but sometimes secondary is still more convenient.
triple monitor but only use 1 at a time while the other 2 show my pretty desktop background :)
>>109235762Before I had two monitors (and today, for shit that could be done with three). I coped by printing guides
>>109235719it is; i prefer one wide monitor with virtual desktops instead of multiple monitors. it's much easier to look at, manage, record (video), ...
Three monitors because dual horizontal is always useful and vertical is sometimes useful.
>>109234993I'm never satisfied with any setup. With a single monitor (especially a shitty small laptop screen) I feel really constrained and find myself missing the ability to, say, have documentation and my editor open at the same time. But, when I have extra displays, I feel kind of overwhelmed by all the shit in front of me and find myself getting distracted easier--with just a single screen, I find that I can "lock in" and focus much better.I would also say that a multi-monitor setup loses a few points due to being finnicky. Like, my main monitor is a piece of shit that takes a long time to wake, so often, on resume, my windows will fling over to my leftmost monitor and need to be moved back to my main one.
>>109235719except some of the most accomplished programmers in the world
>>109234993Depends on screen size and usecase. I just put a 32" on a single arm and I'm probably gonna put a different 32" on another single arm about a foot or so away. Twin arms irk me, especially with larger screens. Also means I can get a tall tri-arm for in-between if my tism metastasizes and demands it be so.
>>109234993who made this image and WHY?!>single screen: 1 screen>dual screen: 2 screen
>>109234993What's the point of multiple monitors when workspace switching is so fast?
>>109234993At work, every desk has 2x 24" displays. Average sales normie is happy with it, only uses 2 programs anyways. I'm Systems & Database Admin for the sales software, working with 2 instances of the sales software in remote windows, 2 additional remote desktops with SQL manager and license database and PowerBI. Working with 2 monitors became so fucking frustrating, I now switched to a single 36" curved monitor. Never been happier.
what gets ignored in these discussions is FOCUS nothing beats one monitor for focus. nothing. yes sometimes having two monitors is nice, but is it needed? I used to use 2-3 for work and 4 monitors for trading. now I'm down to one monitor for each. did anything suffer? no, if anything it helped.now when I see people with 2-3 monitors at work, 99% of the time they just have some application like spotify or a browser or Teams on it. so it ends up being another thing to look at, instead of offering additional functionality.yes there's times when my work (sys admin) could have used two monitors, but it would have made my job a bit easier and got it done a bit faster. is it worth the inevitable distraction and loss of productivity? no. which one allows you to FOCUS more? that's the answer.

>>109235762After using a single monitor for about 100 years I switched to dual monitor, the difference is huge but it doesn't matter that muchBeing able to have something on the second screen permanently is incredibly convenient, like a text you have to translate or a live chat, but it just replaces alt tabbing, and alt tabbing isn't that hard. Who needs to do two things at once anyway ? Second monitors are here to buff your first screen

A 2nd monitor is relatively inexpensive.
