Will efficient software development ever return?
>>109240308its called sol 5.6 ultra
>>109240308It never went anywhere. It's probably just getting maintained since feature creep is the biggest enemy of efficiency.
really really cute image dude
>>109241463This. Building truly efficient and scalable software requires proper time, planning, and testing. Today’s development, more so than ever before, is done much more under the philosophy of “better to beg forgiveness than ask permission”. Features are king, and management does not care how those features are delivered. They don’t care if it plays nice with your current paradigms or architecture. They just care that they can show it to a client tomorrow.
>>109240308BTW: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jH0BYAkPj78And yes, embedded was always efficient.
>>109240308Yes. We have to stop using pathetic languages like Python and start using C/C++ (C >>> C++, btw), also stop hiring indians.
>>109240308KolibriOS is super efficient:https://hackaday.com/2026/07/02/jennys-daily-drivers-kolibrios-0-7-7/There is also the legendary QNX floppy.
