take the vibecode laptop pill. My pc is free to game while "I'm" "coding"
>>
>>109244438
I've thought about just hooking my decked out pc up to my tv and using it purely for gaming/media then getting a productivity laptop but I feel like that's going to encourage me bedrotting and I don't know if I want to go that route
>>

Aren't tokens like $10k?
>>
>>109244520
totally not.

I'm trying out the new grok model, but I coded like 5 little apps using the Composer 2.5 model in grok build. So that's a budget of $30/month lol.

the other guys have similar plans available.

Basic concept is the cloud agent is like a ghost sitting at your computer.
>>
>>109244520
not anon, but openrouter token prices have not increased in price, and many people who pay for subscriptions don't actually utilize 100% of their budget, and the AI companies silently pockets the remaining funds at the end of the month as profit.
That's why OpenAI says that they lose money from the people who use their $200 pro plan, because half the people who use the $20 plans don't even use half of what they are paying for, some people might even forget that they are even subscribed.
Tokens are incredibly cheap, just use a service like OpenRouter, and for coding recently the chinese GLM came out, and it's priced at like $1-4 per million tokens, so it takes a long time to reach that $1 mark unless you go crazy. You might be able to even get a taste of claude or openAI (but they limit it sometimes).

5080 TI Super spotted alredy
>>
>>109244913
No, it's a 5090SE because they refuse to give you something good, 5080 Super will use the same die while this will use a cut down 5090 die. Also 32gb on a 384bit bus is retarded and means they'll have to mix 2gb and 3gb RAM chips.

Looks like things are finally getting back on track, I expect zen 6 for consumers at CES.
>>
so, in the grand scheme of things, what's the difference between using a 2TB SSD SATA vs a 2tb NVME?

yeah because prices, want to know if the nearly x2 price is worth it, because otherwise, might as well use that money difference to get a 6000mhz ram and not a 5200 mhz and still save money
>>
>>109245088
I'm hoping that there is a Epyc that actually is 50% graphics, so we get unified memory with a powerful cpu.

they won't.

the closest thing is the AMD AI max 395
but it's more like a slightly weaker 4060 with no pcie slots.
the 385 is more affordable with half the CPU threads but not cheap enough to compete with the steam machine.
>>
>>109245092
Some games take advantage of NVMe drive's faster loading.
If the NVMe drive costs nearly 2x as much as a SATA SSD, I'd probably get the SATA.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gl8wXT8F3W4
>>
>>109245092
for most use cases i found no meaningful difference besides price. nvme has higher throughput so fortnite and diffusion models load faster. for games without huge asset files it's neglegible, and for productivity it's identical.
>>
>>109245198
Yeah, I am watching the Wendell things.

the 5090 in a laptop is just a 5080 on desktops, you only get 16gb of vram.
>>
>>109245238
Zen 6 is called Epyc Venice, rapids is Intel's naming scheme.
>>
>>109245277
>5090 in a laptop is just a 5080 on desktops
Not even close, I fucking wish it had 5080 performance.
>>
>>109245277
*OH I forgot they put the ram that was supposed to be used on the 50 super series that got cancelled.
The 5090 on laptops have 24gb (gddr7 24Gb, aka 3gb per chip instead of 2), but the 5090 super would have 48gb.
>>
>>109245205
>>109245225
So the difference is basically, 1-2 seconds in most cases, and that's for loading, in actual gameplay it seems like a non-issue for fps, etc, so I guess Ill go with SATA SDD, maybe even a 4tb one now

I mean I'm sitting here wondering I should hold off on buying a card because 5090s are being scalped all the way to $4,000 and 5080s kinda feel shitty wither their 16GB of VRAM unless we're not getting 5080 Supers or Tis next year.
>>
>>109245070
>means they'll have to mix 2gb and 3gb RAM chips.

Any other situation than this current mess and I'd call it impossible.
But now? Who knows maybe they'll actually do this, and just put into the GPUs whatever memory they can dig up from under the warehouse floorboards.
>>
>>109245398
Don't get the nitro+ it has the shitty connector, get the pulse instead or something else from a different manufacturer. The torrent is overpriced there are cheaper cases with big fans like the lancool217 or you can get the lancool 207 for even cheaper and great cooling with included fans.
>>
>>109245549
If it releases it'll be a 24gb card since they're apparently using the same GPU die as one of their pro models and that model has 48gb with clamshell memory.

ASRock TempGuard failed to shut down system after RTX 5090 power connector melted
>>
>>109245738
This will be more common as the 60 series should consume more power, a solution would be for Nvidia to put 2 of them on the cards but they won't because it's ugly.
>>
>>109245752
I think the 60 series will probably use a new connector as the bad PR for both companies just isn't worth it at this point, and it's obviously can't go on forever.
>>
>>109245738

I bought the Thermal Grizzly Wireview so I didn't have to worry about this shit with my 5090.
It does feel a bit pointless, because it turns out that when you undervolt the 5090 a bit, it's not even reaching 8 amps per wire when it pulls 500W
But at least I don't have to think about the damn subject with this thing on my GPU.
>>

can you code using a local model via Ollama, or do you need to use a cloud model?
>>
>>109246435
Get it now and live with it. The 5080S won't be that much faster since it's using the same fully unlocked gb203 chip as the 5080. It'll just be overclocked to use 20% more power for 10% more performance.
Also, the additional 8gb vram will make it highly sought after by local AI enthusiasts which will inflate it's market price and cause low supply
>>
>>109246435
If you want to run local AI, wait for the Super. If you just want to game in 4K, the 5080 is fine- so long as you don't mind DLSS for AAA games.

Fable 5 CANNOT be removed from Anthropic subscriptions.

The new Artificial Analysis Coding Index shows exactly why.

Without Fable 5, Anthropic's best subscription model is Opus 4.8. It loses to GPT 5.6.

It even loses to GPT 5.5. The OLD GPT.

At that point there is no reason to pay for Claude. None.

Fable 5 is not a perk.

It is the entire case for the subscription.

I don't get that, I say that TRYX had a figurine stand CPU liquid cooler and all I could think is that the polymer they use for figurines has to be softening things up in there.

Simultaneous patches for all Spider-Man games on PC updated AMD FSR scaling technology to version 3.1.4. The developers added compatibility with neural network frame generation FSR 4 called Redstone based on machine learning. New algorithms reduce visual artifacts and improve image stability.

To run the FSR 4 frame generator you need an AMD Radeon RX 9000 graphics card and a fresh driver from 25.12.1. Previous generations of graphics chips will use standard analytical interpolation. Owners of new RDNA 4 accelerators will see the technology mentioned in the menu and launcher.

Additionally the update improved the overall support for the original DualSense Edge controller. The specialists eliminated an interface bug that disabled NVIDIA DLSS frame generation after switching settings. A problem with fixing motion vectors when changing modes was also fixed.

For various reasons I need to have two GPUs in my system but I only need to power and use one of them occasionally. To avoid slot wear I won't be just taking the unneeded one out every time. What's the worst that can happen by leaving a GPU seated in a PCIE slot but with no power cables? I keep finding conflicting info about this, some people say it'll just complain and some say it'll cause a massive power spike and kill my motherboard and/or PSU even though the slot is only supposed to give 75W.
One's an RX 590 and one's a 3090 if that matters.
>>
>>109247665
The 8-pin power rail is separate from the pcie power rail so there's zero chance of the GPU pulling >75w from the pcie slot
>>
>>109247675
So assuming the card doesn't bitch too much and lets me POST I can just leave it there, right? Unfortunately my motherboard doesn't let me disable/bypass PCIE slots.

The first specifications of the AMD RDNA 5 graphics architecture, which will replace the RDNA 4 family, have been leaked. The new video cards will be manufactured using the TSMC N3P process. The launch of the new lineup is expected in the second half of 2027.

The preliminary lineup includes accelerators priced from $300 to $1200. A raster performance increase of 10% and a twofold increase in ray tracing speed are expected.

A special energy-efficient processor codenamed Medusa Point Premium is being prepared for portable gaming consoles. This solution will receive a lower-level graphics core. The mobile chip will directly compete with the integrated Intel Arc G3 graphics.

SK Hynix has raised $26.5 billion in its Nasdaq debut, making it the largest U.S. IPO ever by a foreign company.

The company says it will use the money to ramp up production of its high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips, a key part of AI hardware. It also plans to expand manufacturing and advanced chip packaging to meet growing demand.

Investors responded positively to the listing, with SK Hynix shares closing nearly 13% higher on their first day of trading.

>mixing 2gb and 3gb chips is also dumb since you won't be able to address the last 8gb at full bandwidth making it a waste of money for nvidia and consumers alike
Swapping the chips with higher density chips will not increase the bus width of the GPU itself. The chips have the same number of pins.
The reason gddr7 24Gb advertises a increase in bandwidth is because the chips need to be overclocked higher than 16Gb chips to reach that speed.
Just look at the 1060 3gb vs 1060 6gb, same number of chips, and the same bandwidth.

Be like these people. Overcome. Adapt. Survive.
> We saw in a movie how motorcycles can jump over bridges. We used AI to learn how to do this. We gave it information, like what motorcycles we use and the distance we need to jump and so on and it gave us steps on what we have to do. We practiced a lot and kept asking questions. We dug holes and filled them with broken glass and fire to practice. 18 of us died in the process. Eight of us managed to do it. The next time we attacked, we could jump.

> In one recounted instance, when ISWAP fighters were handed out new guns and they did not know how to correctly use them, they approached their qaid, who passed on the message to a specialist, who in turn replied, ‘just ask Grok,’ which they then did.

> “We are not allowed to access the computers, but we present the problem to them to ask the AI. I don’t think there is a problem that these people cannot overcome. They are the masters. They do the analysis with the AI and give us the strategies to implement.”

If you're going to reuse your motherboard and RAM, the 5800X3D makes more sense, but if you're buying new RAM, I'd probably just go DDR5. An R5 9600X is almost as fast as a 5800X3D on average (excluding the outlier cases when paired with a 5090).

If you have some trash tier monitor, one of the best upgrades you can get is something with true HDR, high(er) resolution, and a high refresh rate. That would mean either spending about half of your budget on a 4K 32" 240 Hz OLED (preferable) or punting with the AOC Q27G3XMN.

Please talk me out of wasting money...
Usecase:
I toy with blender, play skyrim and some games on around that level, and would like to try some offline AI for generating cute art once they make all boorus ID only.

Current build (1440p monitors):
>AMD Ryzen 7 5800X (currently downclocked or whatever to lower volts and 4200MHz max due to cooling issues)
>MSI something NVIDIA 3060 TI 8GB (need more of this really...)
>MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk board
>2x32GB Kingston DDR4 3200Mhz Fury something (skyrim memory leaks so this allows me to play all day)
>FSP 750W 80+ GOLD Hydro G Pro 750 ATX PSU
>2 TB + 4 TB samsung evo something m2, 1x 500gb samsung sata, 2 random hard drives 8tb total
>ton of beQuiet fans and a shitty pure rock 2

So here is my though process...
Unless I go for a 9800X3D which feels unreasonable, 32GB ram and a 5070 TI I might as well not upgrade right?
The 7800X3D would be an upgrade sure, but how much really? Even if I budget around 3000€ in a country with almost 30% VAT... hard to justify the performance increase on the CPU side.

A 5070TI seems perfect to me as the price is about as much as I can stomach for a single component, and it is a very significant upgrade over the 3060TI.
Would it be fine to just get the 5070 TI and slap it in my current PC?

I'm worried I'd have to remove the 4200Mhz limit from the 5800X so I don't bottleneck the GPU if that is even a real thing...

So, my question is, full PC upgrade for 3000€ or just slap in the 5070TI, maybe consider a case with better airflow and a better CPU cooler and that is it?

Should I be using frame gen to hit 60 fps?
>>
>>109251317
Get the 5070 Ti and improve the CPU cooling.
be quiet! Pure Rock Pro 3 is a decent dual tower CPU cooler.
Arctic Liquid Freezer 3 Pro is better your case's top panel can fit a 280 or 360mm radiator.
You want to learn how to set custom fan curves for the AIO tho, the included fans can run loud.
>>
What AM5 CPU would you pick for a home server build? Currently debating my options on the 6/8 core front.
>>
>>109251341
Use upscaling, framegen is not recommended if you're sub 60fps
>>
>>109251414
May I ask why the game needs to be around 60 fps for frame gen?
>>
>>109251377
I'm too spooked to get a water cooler so I've been trying to measure the clearance for the RAM and I might just fit the pure rock pro 3.

You think the 5070TI would be heavily bottlenecked if I kept the CPU at maybe not 4.2GHz, but 4.35 or something?
I also had the 3060TI on a lower power curve, plan to have the 5070TI a bit lower too.
Also would the 750W PSU last, or do I need to upgrade that too?

At least I checked the motherboard has pcie4 so that should be fine.

On AM5 the pins are on the socket instead of the CPU.
>>
>>109251423
Input latency. NTA but for me even framegen from 60 feels like moving my mouse through shit.
>>
>>109251423
Frame gen reduces the natural amount of frames, likewise introduces input delay and if the natural amount of frames is low causes ghosting. It's supposed to be a boost if you already have like 200 fps and not something that makes you hit 60
>>
>>109251429
No, everyone switched to the pins being on the socket(motherboard). It makes it easier to get more pins that way.

>>
>>109251453
It's gonna feel like shit, but try out and see if it works for you. I've tried framegen but personally can barely stand it when I'm at 100fps+ maybe it's my bias but anything less and it feels like shit to me, and even at 100+ I try to avoid it as much as possible.

I'm saying that having 100% 3gb chips will not actually increase bandwidth over 100% 2gb chips. So you would get minimal AI token speed improvement (all the performance comes from running the memory at a higher clock).
The 5090 SE seems like a new chip since with a physically smaller bus than the 5090, similar to the 4090. So we should expect around +1000GB/s when the 5090 is 1500GB/s

Its probably using the same chip as the rtx pro 5000 or the 5090D they sold to China both use a cutdown GB202 and have 384bit bus except they have 24/48gb instead of going full retard and mixing RAM chips to get 32gb.

The only place near me will only take the CPU, GPU, and RAM though; and beyond that you have to take it as a full unit because they won't test the parts themselves. And the problem with that is that my power supply is on its last legs. Basically acts like it's dead if you ever unplug it from the wall and move it somewhere else. It'll turn on... eventually, after trying for 20-40 times. Once it has constant wall supply though there's no issue with getting it back on again.

>You think the 5070TI would be heavily bottlenecked if I kept the CPU at maybe not 4.2GHz, but 4.35 or something?
Yes, you need to sort out the CPU cooling before you even buy the 5070 Ti.
>I've been trying to measure the clearance for the RAM and I might just fit the pure rock pro 3.
If you're concerned with memory module clearance, buy the Scythe Fuma 3 or the Mugen 6 Dual Fan Edition.
Those two coolers prioritize memory module compatibility at the cost of a bit higher thermals (still cool enough to handle the 5800X).
>Also would the 750W PSU last, or do I need to upgrade that too?
750W PSU will be fine with that 5070 Ti, it's a power efficient card and you'll get most of its performance with a 280W power limit.

>So when are the Supers coming out?

>Also, why does it seem like GPU liquid cooling is no longer a thing?
They're absolutely a thing, especially for flagship GPUs like the 4090 & 5090.
https://youtu.be/JjeZ-oaROQM?t=710
But those liquid cooled cards will most likely need active cooling for the power connector afterwards.

It makes less sense to liquid cool a 5080 or 9070 XT, since a relatively affordable custom liquid cooling package costs around $300 (unless it's for the love of the game™).
>>
>>109254193
Well 4080s right now are what, $1,250? So surely, the 4080 Super would be no more than $1,600... right?

Also, while you still can find liquid-cooled GPUs, they're the minority of options. Even most 5090s are air-cooled. I'm speaking as someone who doesn't really wanna do the whole custom loop thing right now (even though I bought an ASUS Crosshair X870E Glacial).
