So-called "artificial intelligence" is going to be the end of this world. Regular 15% increases in energy consumption are not sustainable, the planet will exhaust its natural resources in a few years, and will boil over from waste heat in a few decades. Yet unsophisticated shareholders continue to imbue these bullshit generators with romantic power, not realizing it's just machine learning algorithms under the hood that at best are only useful as pattern recognition tools, so mostly military and tyrannical applications to help turn this dying world into a prison are going to be the main use case. This "AI boom" is a complete economic mirage while being a materialistic Black hole that is pathologically drawing everything into it. When it runs out of training data, and new data becomes too poisoned to be useful, then what? Literally what is the use case besides an overgrown chat bot that remixes existing facts, or an image recognition model, practically speaking? Everything's gone bloody crazy.

>>109248764>15% increases in energy consumption are not sustainableThe plan is to combine this with a 75% decrease in world population though, so small beans.

AI is going to be a great filter, perhaps not because of Terminator or The Matrix like people think, but because it's going to be a void to chase that will draw everything into it.
>>109251807What the fuck is this idiocy? Compute with what? Break the rules, how? This is not even slop any more. This is just nonsense!

>>109248764Could easily afford it energy wise if countries stopped being terrible of nuclear energy. Countries should be doing this:>Nuclear as main power for most countries>Renewables as supplementary power where they make sense (location near an ideal hydro power plant location? go for it)>Coal, oil as backups, emergency, or where nuclear or renewables aren't feasibleWith this you'd have abundant power for pursuing AI madness or whatever else you wanted to do. Countries are adverse to nuclear however.
