Remember when everyone used to say how 10 is utter shit and will never switch to it?
>>
>>109249620
Yep. Watching this public opinion 180 is how I lost all hope in this place
>>
>>109249620
It's an endless cycle. People will move and stick with 11 when 12 is released. 13 gets released, 12 is then adopted because it's "less worse" than the next.
>>
>>109249620
Yep. It's funny how people's opinions on things change once they're actually exposed to them.
I'm old enough to remember how Vista hate only came from one group of people (those who'd never used Vista), and how many people to this day obsess over Vista Second Edition.

>>
>>109249661
No one ever went back to Vista, or 98, or 95, because it was objectively bad. Today we have retards who make it their personality to adopt retarded backwards opinions on this trash because they want to be different. They've only ever seen the world through the current lense and think the older generation is just sour.
>>
>>109249708
Yes they did, and it was actually very common.
>>
>>109249661
No, newfag.
Many people skipped Vista and 8. If 12 gets released soon and isn't garbage, many people will also skip 11.
10 is bad, but 11 is objectively worse.
>>
>>109249716

Except they didn't: we have daily cope threads dedicated to its barely-a-service-pack.

Windows 2000 was Dave Cutler's magnum opus.
Besides, Win11 is like a sidegrade to Win10. People overexaggerate how bad it really is just because it's the hip thing to do nowadays.
>>
>>109249716
Nobody skipped Vista, which is why it became hated so much since they all ran it on barely-supported hardware configurations. Then they shat out "Vista SP1 + Platform Updates + fresh wallpapers but let's call it 7" and everybody loved it simply because we moved forwards in time. Honestly the cycle was only interrupted by Vista. Everything else just is.
>>
>>109249716
I wish I was as deluded as you are, must be fun.
>>
>>109249705
the version OP posted, 21H2 doesnt get updates, retard.
>>
>>109249756
If you mean the Win 7 threads, that's just a few irrelevant retards (same as linux tinker trannies).

Rationally speaking, you should use whatever works best for your hardware and software needs.
That's usually [previous Windows version]. [Latest Windows version] is usually a worse choice, because of higher system requirements and bugs.

>>109249800
>People overexaggerate how bad it really is just because it's the hip thing to do nowadays.
Have you even used both? The 11 UI is much slower.
>>
>>109249661
The only problem with this is microsoft is genuinely making it shittier and shittier over time. So even if it's baby duck syndrome, they are still incindentally correct. 12 will be worse than 11, as 11 was worse than 10 as 10 was worse than 7. It's a coherent position.
>>
>>109249544
> That would be 2000, then 7, then XP...
So close yet so far
Windows 7 was an abomination that was borderline unusable with major changes that cannot be undone.
XP is literally just windows 2000 with handful of changes that can mostly be reverted.
>>
>>109249800
Windows 11 is a cosmic horror that makes me want to self immolate. Windows 10 is horrifically bad too but no quite cosmic horror bad.

Classic goomba fallacy
OP was probably born in ~2005, which means he was 10 years old when Windows 10 came out, and is now 21 years old. His first personal computer was probably a Windows 10 laptop or something.
The people who said they'd never switch to Windows 10 were adults when Windows 10 came out, i.e. different people.
>>
>>109249840
>Have you even used both?
Yes, I'm on 11 right now. Again, nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. And it's not like I have a ultra-fast CPU, an i5-12400. The slowness is very mild, usually chalks up to the initial preload, after that everything's perfectly snappy.

lmao @ these shills

keep in mind this video example has explorer preloading enabled on 11. it's even worse without it.
and it's the same thing with the context menu, the start menu.

Windows 11 isn't bad, but it's exhausting. You have to pay close attention when you install it to turn off the tracking and advertising, then you have to stay on top of it because they keep resetting the defaults to their own advantage.

I use Linux, but my wife needs Windows for work and it's a pain in the ass staying on top of it.
>>
>>109249661
This won't happen, 11 is genuine dog shit. It is an ME and Vista pre SP1 shut show, no one baby ducked on those. Just like no one baby ducked on 8. There's usable versions of Windows and then there's pieces of shit like 11.

Shocker: the same applied to installing and running Windows 10 (minus the Enterprise/LTSC versions that respect group policy settings), but people gladly forgot about it and act like only Win11 is this bad and Win10 was better.

Where are all the 4chan threads about how Windows 8/8.1 were the best version of Windows?

I've always had a problem with the whole "you just think it was better that because you were young" argument. Are there no objective standards?
People use that argument for other media too, but how do you explain the fact that people still love reading Shakespeare and listening to classical music?
>>
>>109250414
There are objective standards, they're just not Windows 10 kek
Windows 7 and XP were great operating systems for example.
I have seen anons saying Windows 8/8.1 were good too.
>>
>>109249217
eh
I like 11 ltsc better. It handles high refresh rates and mixed refresh rates better. I use a 60hz 1080p HP EliteDisplay professional grade SDR display and a LG UltraGear 1080p 180hz for muh bibeo gaymz. 11 also handles frames better, like I don't see as many higher end fps like 200+ on Windows 10, with 190 on Windows 11, but with 11 there is less stutter and less times where lower fps. I also noticed Windows 11 handles ecores better and pcores better. I prefer the centered start menu as well. I will be upgrading from 10 to 11 later today.
>>
>>109250425
>I have seen anons saying Windows 8/8.1 were good too.

Not anywhere close to Windows 7. The "you were just young and impressionable" argument probably applies when people are arguing between different forms of mediocrity. But something truly great will stand the test of time.
>>
>>109250425
I liked 8 because I didn't have to resort to Ubuntu for 3d printing. Windows 7 never got updated to support that style and level of 3d printing, because by the time it hit the general market, we had slicers and shit. For it's time it served it's function. I just put up with the charm bar.

Laugh at him with me.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA LMAO
>>
>>109250482
yeah 10 really isn't great. IMHO 11 is actually better in a lot of ways, it just suffers from some unfortunate circumstances. I hope Windows k2 will be better.

Windows 10 and 11 are pretty much the same, except
the Windows GUI 11 is

Even the Windows 10 GUI isn't as fast as older versions, but Windows 11 is just embarrassing. They need to remove all that webshit code and hire someone competent.
>>

if you poke around the other subkeys there(AppLaunch/AppSwitched), you can see it records every application you ever launched too :)

They won't, they replaced their workers in the past few years with people from a certain subcontinent, and making them use AI for everything.

insider builds already fixed a lot of it apparently, should be released with 26H2.

There won't be a 12 for a long time. This is just the current path for Windows now. Like everything else in software these days, every update is just going to keep getting worse until something else gets marketed to hell and back or we all just get sick of computers all together.
>>
>>109252182
I was really hoping xp or 7 would get the retarded level of independent support 98 got. We did get onecore but 7, and therefore any semblance of continued use of contemporary software on our old computers, just quietly drifted beneath the waves

it just deleted my account and sent me to a temporal user, I hate this garbage so much, gonna go back to windows 7
>>
>>109249217
I'd argue 7 was better because the UX wasn't ruined with the weird start menu.
I always used classic shell on windows 10 but the start menu never made sense to me. Thankfully the old style menus were close by. 10 was just fine.
I know haters gonna hate, but windows 11 is solid.
I love how it runs, the ads people bitch about are easily turned off by hitting the triple dots and hitting "silence communications " , and the sign in prompts are no different than Mac osx dong the same thing.
And finally creating a local account is easy with the windows 11 iso and Rufus. The same people who bitch about telemetry are ok when valve does it on their Linux installs.
My favorite personal laptop is my hp elite book g45 some refurbishing outfit crazy mispriced (32gb of ram for 450$).
