maybe one should treat virtual machines as an extra safety layer and not for feeling invincible.
>>

>pretending like VM escape exploits are something new

I cannot deny he is right. Programmers have proven time and time again that they cannot be trusted. Myself included. Worse still, even if you could trust software, hardware vendors make the same mistakes at their layer. And then we can ask Ken Thompson about origin attacks. etc. etc.

Not that we shouldn't try, but these layers are not a good way to handle it when we should be solving it fundamentally. Instead of isolating bad applications how about write good applications, with good system APIs. Reduce and rewrite is honestly less concern overall than Extend and write new things on top that are likely the same if not more code than a reduced rewrite would have taken anyway. It's all the wrong direction.

Linus called obsd people masturbating monkeys yet he keeps being fucked by this vulnerabilities.
>>
>>109254209
not to say virtualization in obsd is something advanced, anyways, are you a poorfag or what? just use another librebooted ibm thinkpad for that.
>>
>>109253872
I'm going to bet it exploits an interface through the virtualization, like a virtual device driver, which often are ass anyway.
>>
stop trying to create ways to run untrusted software on your computer and then coping that whatever layers of sandboxing and bullshit actually protect you
if you run untrusted code, you are pwning yourself
it's literally that simple
>>
>>109254222
but i need my cracked photoshop on a windows vm bro
>>
>>109254240
why run a windows vm? just run photoshop directly on your pc. don't download shitty cracks
>>
Sounds like it doesn't work if nested virtualization is disabled?
>>
>>109253872
Should I just use Xen now? I mean, QubeOS already uses Xen.

no one is going to waste a zero day vm escape on you
so unless you are doing something that interests glowniggers
these are highly effective measures
