>>109258637Same here although E27 is deprecated and anyone buying new should get a fixture with integrated LED's.Never had one fail so never had the opportunity to upgrade.
>>109258765Opposite experience here (ceiling light). Ended up modding it to accept two E27s instead. Integrated works until it doesn't. Then you'll buy nothing but standardized.
>>109258548Cheap TP-Link bulbs that I've written a script for that slowly changes their temperature from 6500K to 2700K on sunset. Based on some guy's repo. He figured out that the "encryption" they use is just a JSON in BASE64 and then reversed. Guess they've read that jeet who posted the same thing on Stack Overflow a decade ago.
Nanlite PavoBulb 10C RGBWW95 CRI / 97 TLCI white 2700-7500K + RGB$75 each though.
>>109258765>get a fixture with integrated LED'sIt's gonna die, then instead of screwing in a new bulb I have to replace the whole thing which is going to be a pain in the ass. And when it dies in 5, 10, 15 years they won't be selling the same model any more and I'll have mismatched lights.I really don't like the idea.
Still rocking my Phillips Huesfor me, it's dark red in gaming sessions
>>109258849The main problem with bulbs is they keep the heat in, frying the electronics dramatically reducing the lifespan.A well designed fixture will have the heat sensitive electronics far away from the LED chips and a decent heat sink for the LED chips themselves. Bulbs are also less efficient because they throw light in all directions including straight up against the ceiling which is wasteful and adds extra heat. And a fixture doesn't add much to the production cost if anything at all vs. bulbs. The only downside is that they're harder to replace but unless you buy utter garbage they should easily last 20+ years.
>>109258884based, the only actual good RGB bulbs in the thread.
>>109258924My ceiling and floor lamps are designed with LED bulbs in mind, not incandescent, and allow for sufficient airflow around the bulb, I haven't even had a bulb die yet.
>>109258924Not even the expensive ones my family bought lasted the 20 years you advertise. In fact they lasted pretty much just as long as the higher-quality E27 bulbs did. So the issue is something else.
>>109258951And it's fine to use them until they die.Just saying they are deprecated and nobody should buy new bulbs or new fixtures designed for bulbs in 2026.I know it's hard to take Grandpa, but bulbs are 19th century tech that make no sense in the modern world.
>>109258938Yeah but you only really need them if you NEED high CRI tunable white AND RGB LEDs in the same fixture without just replacing the bulb.
every led over 5w makes an annoying buzzing noise
>>109258990Good design is timeless and actually people a long time ago had the right idea when they used to put floor lamps (because it was easier to retrofit in old homes) and sconces instead of ceiling lights.

I'm using 70-100w halogen bulbs specially ordered because i can't find them in the store and you can't stop me. Electricity bill you ask? worth every penny to get that nice halogen light.
I need better lighting for my macro photos
My house was built in the 1950s so I don't have any interesting built in lighting etc. I just run a few Govee A19's for simple on/off timer set ups for stuff like the front porch. 9 watts for 75watt equivalent is fine. I like the RGB so I can say I'm putting up my Christmas light and it's just the porch light set to green. The real winner is a dozen of those $10 for 6 cheapy square plug in Led night lites that have a basic dusk to dawn set up. Two in spare room, one in kitchen and both bath rooms and three in the main living room etc. .5 watts per and more then enough light to roam around at night without needing to turn on anything.
Why not DIY your own using the LED's from discarded LED arrays (controller burned out, but LED's aren't dark/burned out). Confirm polarity, solder, extend the diffuser and you've got some neat monstrosity of a light.
