>>109270358If money is a problem for you, you can build the entire robot in sim, which you have to do anyway, and start from there. You can use a free CAD suite like Fusion360, export your model to URDF, get it working in Nvidia Isaac Sim, and then when you are ready, build the actual bot. As you go up in height for a biped, the cost is basically 4th power in my experience. You could homebuild a 3ft tall bot reasonably but a 5ft tall biped is going to be $30k+, not just for actuators but you will need to machine parts for that size biped, 3D printing is not enough.
In the future, there will be robots.
