i will say i have personally done this with a smallish piece of modern commercial software.i didn't know what i was doing at all and it took ~24 hours of clanking to get a 1:1 pixel accurate clone - someone with actual decomp experience could probably get it done much quicker.

Then you need to analyze and understand the nasty ass decompiled code well enough to rebuild it from scratch as your own code and it needs to work exactly the same as the original. That’s recompilation and it’s the hard part.

So if you want to know how many tokens for a working recompliation, a lot, but it depends entirely on your own skill set. If you know the right stuff and give the AI good tools information and guidance it can work very effectively. But if you don’t know what you’re doing it’ll go in circles and waste a ton of tokens.
