>>109292514AI in and of itself is not a problem. Its the billionaire trash and abuse of hardware markets and data center rush that IS the problem.
hey guddite, heres what Albert Einstein says
I'm going to be honest here, baring my soul a little. I am a prolific modder for a certain game. Something close to Xcom, let's say. I've made some pretty good stuff, but only through the modding tools. I don't know how to code. But I know the game inside and out. So, one day I break and ask claude code to write a feature for me, and I, with my excellent in-game knowledge, test if it works, checking for every edge case. It works, it's like I commissioned a human coder to do it. I've been expanding ever since. I've done more than I ever could before except by actually learning to code myself, which I never wanted to do. I just wanted to make cool soldiers fight each other. My point is that I can 100% make actionable, functional stuff that people enjoy, because I can tell if the output is correct, even if I don't understand how it got there. And I am just a retarded gamer. I'm definitely not using it for maximal efficiency and utility. And I would only ever admit I am using this tech if I had to, because I know the optics nuke it would mean for me. And if I am smart enough to figure all this out, and smart enough to keep my mouth shut about it, then there must be thousands of people smarter than me, making more useful code than me, who are quietly using it to hammer out thousands of lines of working code they can verify the functionality of, to very real and potentially profitable results. Of course, I'm an anon and have no intention of providing evidence lest I be exposed, but trust me when I say that this has let me do something that would have never, ever been possible otherwise. And if its true for me, it must be true for others, and it has to be having a tangible impact and positive effect. I don't know where I am going with this but I'm trying to be sincere here. it's crazy.

>>109292582That's good. 100% spot on, understanding the output is key. I do the same thing, but the one piece I was missing (and I have become more focused on) is security. It's most excellent to make a working product that's void of major bugs, but it's all for not if it's a leaking sieve security wise.

It seems like tech really is going downhill and the tech tree the oligarchs have chosen to expand is literally just there to weaken it's users.Even looking at computer science curriculums from the 90's/early 2000's, you see a shift towards great levels of abstraction and not core foundational principles.I think the C programming language is really about as far up the abstraction tree we will ever need.Somebody please give me some hope for the future

>>109293380You're absolutely wrong and delusional. Not that anon but I've been modding for 30 years from sprites to 3d and I still don't know how to code. I've tried a few times since I was a child and couldn't get into it. The most I've done is scripting. Why? Because there are so many other things I'm good at that I'd rather be spending my time on. AI allows me to focus on those things, increasing productivity and overall quality, especially because I'm the one in control. I don't need to go through someone else who won't have the same creative mindset.I'm not a random nobody either. People have always been stealing and reselling my shit. It's no exaggeration to say that I go random places and people are using my work. Makes it hard for me to give a shit about people suddenly crying over AI copyright issues. I'm not publicly active anymore because DEI ruined everything everywhere, including my life since childhood, and killed my motivation. Why am I here? To browse for useful info. I rarely comment. I've been using AI privately for a few years. Made lots of stuff. Will continue making stuff that I won't release, because I don't want to deal with hysterical luddites and DEI activists trying to enslave creators under manufactured moral obligations. I don't care about profit. I'd rather die than throw more pearls at swine. And I doubt I'm the only one who thinks this way.So when you see luddites and DEI nonsense, know for a fact that they are pushing away actual creators like myself. They want it that way, because it makes their garbage the only option and most people can't tell the difference when there's nothing better anymore.

I actually made 3 vibe coded mods doing this. The first one was like 90% vibe coded, the second like 60%, and the final one I made that is insanely popular is like 40-50% vibe coded since I started writing my own lines as I learned what was going on. Basically I just need the AI to give me syntax when it's something I haven't encountered before but otherwise I can lookup functions on valve's vscripting repository and chain them together myself at this point with AI assisting me rather than full 100% writing every line.
