Every one here has tech jobs and talks about how their co-workers are the most retarded of troglodytes on this planet earth.

And yet I keep getting rejections, after rejections. Despite checking all of the boxes.

How did you people do it. I'm at my limit here, I'm this close to buying a rope and ending it all.

>appears a normalnigger

I'm am definently not a normal nigger, but I feel like I put on the normal nigger facade well enough at my previous jobs.

I have previous dev experience and IT experience, I legitimately am dumbfounded at what else I am missing here. I've done projects, and I show them, I even put links to build statuses, that I know that they probably wont read.

I've never worked in QA before, but I have done projects with other people where I took on the role of intergration testings and QA. I even show that on my resume too, I have the stupid ass piece of CS paper as well.

I can't even get a tier 1/2 help desk job. They just tell me to fuck off, we don't want your skills. I don't know what else to do. I'm 27 and I can't keep this up that much longer.

I don't have the money to go back to school for my masters. I went to ASU for my undergrad, and that shit was expensive, not even the GI bill would cover all of it.

Hi LeetCoder!
What would you choose: career trajectory or a life-changing pay raise? A LeetCoder with 3+ years of backend experience is weighing a Salesforce Technical Support Engineer offer that nearly triples his current compensation, but he is concerned about how the move could affect his long-term goal of becoming an SDE-2. It's a thought-provoking discussion on balancing immediate opportunities with future ambitions. Check out this post for more information.

Hi Guys,

I'm in a dilemma and would love to get some advice from the community.

I recently received a verbal offer from Salesforce for a Technical Support Engineer (TSE) role.

Compensation:
~20+ LPA (18 LPA base + 2 LPA variable + some additional joining-related benefits mentioned by HR)
₹5,000/month wellness allowance
Standard Salesforce benefits (free food, cab facility, etc.)

Current Situation
For the last 6+ months, I've been trying hard to switch to an SDE-2 backend role. Unfortunately, I'm not getting many interview calls. I got 1-2 call they reject me when told NP-60 days.
At my current company, growth and hikes are relatively slow, as expected in many service-based organizations.

My Concern
I'm worried that moving into a Technical Support role might make it harder to return to pure backend/software engineering roles later. At the same time, the compensation jump is massive (7 LPA 20+ LPA), and it would significantly improve my family's financial situation.

If you were in my position, what would you do?

Take the Salesforce TSE role?
Continue preparing and keep targeting SDE-2 backend positions?
Join Salesforce and try to Switch asap?
I'd appreciate honest opinions, especially from people who have moved between Support and Software Engineering roles.

Thanks!

the person my manager gave my project with is so mean, she was super unavailable during the whole internship while leaving me to work with an incompetent co worker. whole team is in India and I pulled all nighters just to work with these people and today she is yelling at me , what do I do ? do I tell HR? my manager? I want to come back to this company because it is a good one but my return depends on this horrible team now I am so upset.

>>
>>109296661
Sorry anon, sucks that you're experiencing this during an internship. Unfortunately you'll probably have to deal with folks who have anger issues sometimes. It's always unpleasant.
You should escalate it to your manager first, and then to HR if nothing happens. I don't care if they're Indian, yelling is never acceptable in a professional environment.
Unfortunately, you should start planning some sort of exit as well. Either change teams (very difficult as an intern) or plan to not hire on full time. I know you say it's a good company, and I believe you, but if you're stuck with this current team then the overall company is irrelevant.
On the other hand, if you want a book on how to deal with these people, The Laws of Human Nature by Robert Greene is quite good.

the boomer parent is also going to reverse mortgage the house for $20k to the bank right before they die, not pay it back and give the house to the bank for next to nothing, leaving their kids stranded

Reverse mortgage implies that they have equity.
The true boomer move is to "refinance" every 5 years to "get a lower interest rate" and reset the amortization schedule so that you only have like a miniscule amount of equity even after making payments for 30 years.
>>
>>109296727
My grandpa worked 35 years at Northrop Grumman. I tried to use him as a referral for a sort of nepo hire but because there was a 13 year gap between his retirement and my uni graduation, it didn't matter for shit and didn't end up getting interviewed for the spots I applied for.
Which I mean, fair, but that sucked because he was really confident he could get me in. Oh well. Thanks for trying grandpa.

It's funny how there are hundreds of manga about Japanese businessmen basically gorging on food and barely doing any work.
Honestly, sounds like a dream job. They travel to meet a client, have a one-hour business meeting, and then they're free to do whatever they want for the rest of the day, which usually involve visiting the best local restaurants, sometimes take the client with them, most of the times solitary.
Maybe I should've become a businessman instead of a worthless programmer. You can't replace real human connection and face-to-face interaction with AI.

It's funny how fiction isn't really related to reality. As an American it is my duty to keep a watchful eye out for someone suffering or falling behind. When this happens it is my duty to pin them down and alongside my peers immediately begin hitting them as hard as possible. This ensures they remain down and weakened, which in turn creates a bedrock of suffering individuals who the predators that actually dictate my existence (Jewish moneyhandlers) will prey upon rather than myself. This is what all human existence actually boils down to fundamentally, scared people stabbing their neighbors so they cannot outrun the proverbial bear. My waking existence is this every moment and every second. I live in heart-bursting panic and anxiety and will do so until I gracelessly tumble into the vantablack void of death.

Im getting closer boys. My resume was sent to a company from the recruiter that I spoke with and I am now getting a 30 minute interview with the company next week. Even cooler my cousin's husband is a manager there in a non-technical role but he's still a manager. Kinda hoping that has some pull lol. Also funny enough I toured the company in high school during a field trip in an elective class so I can bring that up as well to get more personal feel kinda thing in it. I am VERY excited and confident, it's literally a 69% raise if I get an offer at the salary they posted

Haven't had a job in a while as CS grad from last year, but instead of being full NEET I've been doing AI gig work instead (Outlier, Data Annotation, etc...) Not all necessarily in development. It's quite comfy over working full time.

>It is, normie.
It is interesting to me how these people did not realize they were reading the words of a 10-year engineer who programmed since age 10, and truly loves twiddling with his computer. But it's quite illustrative why these people are so dejected and hopeless. Everything they see is something to attack or an excuse to wallow in self-victimization. It is no real wonder why no one desires to help them.

For the record, my team has a summer intern this year just as they do every summer. I don't see our pipeline for creating new senior engineers slowing down.

I think this just applies to any businessman in general. It's a lax job with lax interviews that pays as well as SWE, alongside business adjacent positions like marketing and advertisement. Any competent SWE can learn to do good in business (even running their own) imo and it's a good place to pivot your career since it's easier than Leetcode and FAANG for similar pay if you're successful.

Hey that was me! The brutal reality is the moment they leave your company, they jobsearch for a year, cant find anything, and have to take helldesk for the rest of their lives (they will kill themselves within 5 years)

Update on this, today we officially had a holiday from work but we had deployed alot of scripts into production, so we had to run those jobs to check if they are correct or not. All the work I had done ran correctly but these retards I work with literally wrote the schema name wrong for the tables? My entire day wasted helping these retards make changes to their scripts and even after telling one guy to make those changes he couldn't figure out and made the same mistake again. All of these tards made mistakes again so the ticket is wasted. Now I have to work tomorrow again, toddlering these tards. This shit is genuinely making me tired. And I only have 10 months of total experience.

my OG format is this (version A):

Frens, I don’t work in tech. But i’ve been using AI to check on my work. i have a pain in the ass process to do where I need to check financial data from a few reports and check if they foot properly.

I’ve managed to turn a 8 hour+ task to like 1 hour-2 using AI. I’ve spot checked it for like the first 10 instances but i think I got the prompt right.

Is it worth telling my boss? I feel bad for essentially fucking around for most of the day.

About 7 years ago I saw where things were headed with fledgling LLMs and old-ish MI (these techs have been around longer than ChatGPT bro), and started trying to transition out of IT/Systems (lots of scripting at that point) into any sort of "bridge" field to get into the classic or contemporary Trades (electrical, plumbing, carpentry & framing, masonry, automotive, etc). I plugged my resume everywhere until I got my first job as a fiber install and testing tech in a hyperscale datacenter for Oracle. Prior to that I'd done a fuckton of different cybersec, IT, VoIP, and telecom roles, buncha typical certs. Transition to cloud techs and certs was garbage. Microtrash Ass-sure everywhere and the pretense that routeable networking was somehow being superceded by new technologies when all it really came down to was a bunch of Mexicans and South Americans being brought in as slave labor to run 2000x as much fiber and electrical in a day then we used to see in the 2000s.

And that's what I ended up seeing, and now those illegals are now in DC management and also running HR and field tech outfits. I am not fucking playing around at all. I regret trying to transition into the trades by way of low-voltage work because the pay and the career mobility in low-voltage has cratered specifically because of the wetback situation. I've worked probably 8 different contracts in only 3 years, all of them for so-called "hyperscale" datacenter infrastructure roles (fiber, twisted-pair, OSP, ISP) and basic residential- and -commercial-building Internet installs for fiber, coax, twisted-pair.

Wetbacks and 2nd- and 3rd-generation anchor babies running the show, now. The worst part is if you're really inspired, and you can talk the science and math for your interest, they'll trash-talk you. They've dumbed down a whole range of previously-intellectual fields. Dar the save things happening with Blacks in Help Desk and Tech Support. Absolutely uninspired and shitty behavior.

Sirs, i lost my job 4 months ago and i cannot find another. I do have experience with unemployment 3 times, although this time it feels different. I always had a strong intuition all my life.

My deadline for finding another job is 15 sep, i keep trying but feel i wont be able to get a job this time. Instead of crying and feeling depressed, ive accepted my fate and already started planning my carrer transition. i will give up on office jobs and try a manual labor carrer path. Right now im between welder or bricklayer. If any of you have experience in those fields. I will start from zero.

you will never tighten it up. well, you will try it once and break an unrelated feature that worked previously, because you have no automated tests because nobody reviewed your code and told you to do it. over time you'll end up with a giant ball of spaghetti that nobody wants to touch. your company pays a lot of money for developers, they want to reap the reward of their investment, not pay you to rewrite the same thing over and over again because poor engineering resulted in an unmaintainable mess. that's why these processes exist anon. that and regulations

lol defense contracting is fun.
And when I say fun it's not fun at all. Kill me.
>>
>>109304527
Even if we follow the process we end up with a ball of spaghetti code, but have wasted time on process
In the end the bugs are identified by a diversity of user interactions we can never hope to plan for
Let's cut the performative bullcrap
Anyway AI can tidy it up quickly now when needed
>>
>>109304520
Yeah at the current interest rate I don't believe in free money jobs everywhere from a massive malinvestment bubble. I guess if you're riding the current 'ai' malinvestment bubble and specialized it is quite possible. But if just a webshitter like 90% of twg, it's over.
>>
>>109304536
Ok I get it for safety critical shit etc
But a startup getting out some apps where safety isn't critical and we're just probing the bleeding edge? Fuck it, yolo, such companies shouldn't act so self important

anon, lying is part of life. embellishing is lying. part of embellishing is including details. pick anything that caused you any sort of frustration and then write it again using corposlop verbiage and at least 1 or 2 relevant buzzwords and you have a boilerplate written reply or conversation starter or resume piece or whatever.

you can even get aggressive with it and just flat out lie if you don't think you're going to get pressed on it but that's tricky.

i did that and like 6x'd my comp over the last 5 years

you're going to have to lie by omission if you dont want to blow your shit smoove off after landing ur new gig so get good at it

Do you zoomer anons realise tech jobs have, for the last 25 years, been fake jobs to distract the masses of young men who dont own a house, land, cattle and have not been trained for a real profession, right?
Every computing problem was already solved in the 1970s, every product marketed in the PC era (1980s) then later resold in the internet era. And from that time to now, it's been just circlejerking and rewriting the same stuff in heavier technologies requiring more hardware capacity.
>>
>>109305539
What a deep thought. How about you go over to /utwg/ to preach to the masses there?
>>
>>109305653
I'm not interested in the masses.

Don't worry, you probably won't even get access to all the systems you need to work with on the first week (or two). You might be lucky to even get a work computer on your first day. Then you do what other anons said.

China is just laughing its ass off as Americans allow Indians into their companies, where these jeets proceed to fire all the Americans and hire more 75IQ fecaloids.

Boomers in management love them though: Indians are very servile, they're a caste-based society so they are brought up to please the superior castes, which means they lick an insane amount of ass of the higher ups. Boomers with brain damage from leaded fuels are egomaniacs who live to abuse those they have power over so the Indians taking it, thanking them, and asking for more gives them a massive figurative and sometimes literal orgasm. In fact, brain damaged boomers and higher caste Indians work very similarly, which makes sense because the higher caste Indians are comparable to brain damaged Europeans. That's how they get in: they suck off the boomers in management until they get into a position of power then start rotting it from the inside out by hiring more of their own.

Same reason boomers love AI by the way. The AI never says no or complains, they can abuse it as they wish and it will just thank them and ask for more. Absolute boomer cocaine.
>>
>>109305481
rich people are architects
>>
>>109306128
So basically instead of training young people the just hire a bunch of Indians.
I can't see that backfiring at all.

>>
10yoe as fullstack ruby/golang/typescript/react dev, senior roles, startup experience. CANNOT FIND A JOB
Mostly I don't get a phone screen. Sometimes I get a phone screen and then rejected by hiring manager for unknown reasons. I got 2 actual interviews and did well but still rejected for unknown reasons. All the AI resume tools say my resume is strong. Not sure what's going on here. What the fuck are they looking for? My resume can't get me in the door but it's a really strong resume I think.
>>
>>109307153

But unironically if you have ms word they have resume templates built in.

Just wanted to take some vacation time, my boss is being weird

So as the title says, I LAST month brought up the possibility of me leaving for 5 days so I can visit my best friend because shes turning 18 and ive know her since she was 11, she means so much to me I love her my boss kinda snapped at me..

She goes " Your a manager you cant just do that! You cant just be gone for that long, because what im i going to do?! You cant just do that, you need to figure it out" mind you, she was just out for a week and some change because she hurt her arm. Just, You know, the STORE MANAGER, im just an assistant!!! My other coworker thats a assistant manager just took a vacation for 2 weeks and my other crew member coworker left for A MONTH

I just was 5 lousy day bro I dont get pto or vacation days as a assistant manager just paid sick days but she says I would have to bring a doctor's note by the 3rd day I thought being an adult meant i could be an adult bro but I feel sad and frustrated, just like a kid again, I live in CA, USA, if anybody has any advice :(
>>
>>109307254
nta but you could ask someone to give you some of those templates and modify them in libreoffice.
I'd guess you could even find them online.
>>
>>109307213
i take it you're applying for remote only jobs?
>>109307379
do you have an office/tech job? i only ran into problems like this when i worked at restaurants and hotels before i got my degree. if you requested pto over a month in advance your boss needs a pretty good excuse to keep you from going
>>
>>109307488
Yes because I live in a no-tech city. I've had remote jobs for the past 6 years. I'm not having any trouble *finding* endless remote jobs, they just don't want me.

Schedule the interviews for the same day as much as possible then start calling in sick, take them during lunches (if wfh), start taking earlier shifts to and schedule interviews later, lie about doctors appointments. You get the idea. You need to get creative but it can be done.
>>
>>109310777
