Bought OnePlus Buds Pro 3 and they sound great out of the box, even better with an EQ, but they come with bonkers 300-400ms latency on my phone. Tried Earfun Air Pro 4+ which supposedly sound pretty good but I personally didn't enjoy the tuning out of the box. They sound better after an EQ but I still don't really like them, plus the frequency response changes when you enable ANC like my WF1000XM4s did which is annoying. Also tried Liberty 4 NC and they do sound a little better than the Earfuns but still not as good as the OnePlus Buds Pro 3 and the transparency mode sucks. What do I buy now? All I care about is audio quality, ANC/transparency and battery life. I'm eyeballing Oppo/Realme earbuds but there's a million different models and I'll have to deal with AliExpress returns if I don't like something.
>>109305909Since you're posting for the third time I'll bite. The natural upgrade path is probably Galaxy Buds4 Pro or latest Sony ones. Hello audio nerds, I come bearing a question.I want to buy something like the Sennhieser HD 600 headphones (not sold on that specific model but you get the idea). From what I've been reading I need something that can drive 300 ohms comfortably. Now the issue is, I already own a Scarlett Solo 4th gen because I run my guitar and mic through it, but quick research indicates it won't be powerful enough to directly run the headphones. That's fine. I'll buy an amp. Now, how the hell do I chain the Scarlett and the amp (Atom Amp+, FiiO K7, etc.) together so I can still monitor my guitar through the headphones, but have the amp power the phones? Scarlett has Line Out, amps have Line In. So, 1/4" Mono to RCA, then connect the headphones to the amp input? I just want to avoid spending $1000 and finding out I can't monitor my instrument while it's powered by the amp.
>>109306133>>>/hpg/also buy IEM's

>>109306206Let me rephrase.I don't care about some cheapshit inline aliexpress special for $5. I listed desktop amps in the $200+ range and that's what I intend to buy, if anything. You're telling me I don't need that much power then that's fine, but I'd rather just buy something capable now in case I ever get even more demanding headphones. And that's IF this combination even works, which is what I really wanted an answer for.

>>109306256just get the q5k or trn black pearl or any tanchjim dongleif you want a desktop stack, go ahead. just know they are inconvenient and provide no benefit over cheaper and more portable dongles

>>109305909Airpods pro has unbeatable ANC/transparency if that matters most to you, with good enough sound. However if you use it at the gym or while running, it'll die in maximum 2 years. Normal airpods will crackle within a few months in the same scenario, avoid those.
hd650 is nice as a palate cleanser but is too low test for me. i need physicality scale and good slam
>>109306256hd600 has not been considered a demanding headphone for like 10 years. It's the low impedance low sensitivity planars that need amps now. High impedance is a safeguard against current clipping, the worst thing that could possibly happen with them is them not playing loud enough.

>>109306448>>109306272So I just get a 6.35mm to USB-C TRS cable to connect a dongle then plug the phones into the 3.5mm Out? That'll just werk(tm)? If they're so cheap I guess I can just keep that for the IEMs if I ever get a desktop stack to replace it.

sound quality is not correlated with price literally for everything not just IEMs
>>109313350Diminishing returns is the same type of delusion as singularity. Nothing in real life works like that. There's simply a product that is "the best" and everything above and below it is worse. A New York pizza made with the most expensive ingredients will not be better than a $5 pizza from Naples, if we're going by food analogies.
>>109313331of course not. my claim is just that there seems to be some correlation between price and quality. i could even qualify it and say it's weak and noisy, but there. many expensive products can be insultingly shitty, and the value of some very cheap stuff extreme. which can justify keeping only cheap stuff even if you acknowledge price and quality are somewhat related, but that isn't your position. no, you insist on insisting- it has to be on average worse if you pay more. that is a extremely strong claim
>>109313492>my claim is just that there seems to be some correlation between price and qualityyour claim is wrong there is none>if you acknowledge price and quality are somewhat relatedthere's no need to acknowledge that as it was proven to not be the case>it has to be on average worse if you pay more. that is a extremely strong claimthat would also be a correlation between price and quality and there is none
>>109313492>averageMy claim is much stronger. I say that every single expensive IEM is worse $20 pos. You can only hide behind exceptions for so long. Name 1 exception that is better, not worse than average. Then we can talk about averages.

>>109301581>sound is just vibration of your eardrums, that vibration is literaly a sum of sine waves,Sine waves are only an approximation to anything, the limit of a repeating process over an infinite domain. They do not actually exist. If this sounds like splitting hairs, the DFT takes a finite window of a signal in time and extrapolates that time sequence into a set of frequency bins.>if you FFT it, you get a FR graph, and if you do the inverse transform you get back the exact same sum of sine wave. When I learned about frequency response, we used the Fourier Transform. The loss of phase information makes it not a frequency response. You could call it a bunch of other things depending on context: the modulus, the magnitude response, the sensitivity. But it isn't FR.That the system is assumed minimum-phase, or close enough not to deviate in any meaningful way, means you can reconstruct the phase from the magnitude and thus the FR.I'm not against the idea of joint-time frequency charts, e.g. STFT, CSDs, wavelets, and such. Non-minimum phase behavior can be deceptively small and lost in the summation/integral. But this isn't a black box either, and you should ask yourself what sort of behavior and delayed sound you can expect from such a small acoustic structure.>the FR is just a literal mirror of the soudwave you can convert it back and forth and that's why EQ's work in the first place if that wasn't the case, an EQ with no bands would delete information, and they don't.That's a property of linearity. Linear systems are simple to invert.Assuming that factors such as noise and quantization error aren't relevant, of course.

>>109317437>Fourier transformirrelevant as EQ's don't actualy use a fourrier transform but i told him to look at them because they give a good first intuition of what is actualy happening, FIR preserves phase information and that's why it needs to have previous samples to be able to work, you generally use 500 to 4000 previous samples in order to preserve phase information, the more taps you have the better the preservation, 512 is generally considered good enough for EQ's, but again, practicaly no one can ear the difference with iems because minimum phase, if you use iems you may as well go with IIR which is a LOT faster, even though it doesn't preserve phase information.>That has nothing to do with what I just said. >>109317437>The graph is not the measurement.Click download, retard.>You can take it to absurdity and demonstrate that this is wrong in the absolute. This has been demonstrated like 100 years ago. Only full 180 rotation is somewhat audible on some asymmetrical waveforms, tiny shifts from crossovers - totally inaudible.
>>109317529>inducing partial allpass rotationseven if that was the case and that it was enough to matter (it isn't) you could also literaly EQ phase if you realy wanted.and anyway, even if it somehow sounded extremely slightly different (which it don't >>109317881)it'd not sound any "better" or "worse".
>>109317611CSD shows what the driver is doing(nothing) and you still don't get it.>inb4 it's fakeExplain the different noise floor then. You can't because it's real. That is the only cope you have left - total reality denial.

>>109317998we're not talking about noise floor. that would be a deflection.we're talking about editing in REW and pretending it's really the driver produces those results.fake as fuck, like pretending to be the opposite gender or pretending to know how audio works.
>>109318018We are talking about different noise floor on the graphs that you call fake. You have no explanation for this.
>>109318024I literally do not care to go over every little detail about a pretend CSD plot with you.it's the end of this thread anyway and entertaining your cope serves no purpose. noise floor. what a joke.
