Notice how they all do sales jobs. People on /g/ have spent the past 15 years demanding to know what the best-paying job would be, as though they are too fucking important to do the second-best-paying job. I stopped posting here for literally a decade because so many people here are such fucking faggots, and I only came back when AI seething started, because that's something I can get behind. Anyway, the best-paying jobs have always been sales jobs. That was my point.

Look for job titles that don't mean anything. The most common is "Account Manager" (you won't be a real manager) but there are plenty of variations on that.

You could also just get one of those jobs phoning people up and asking if they want to buy printer toner. I did that for two years, from 2012-14. It's not that bad, although it's a shitty sales job and you will need to make contacts and then move into a better job pretty quickly.

I've been a front end developer for like 10 years or so but it is getting real fucking hard to find work, let alone maintain myself in a company.

What should I learn to get a better resume?
>>
>>109317621
pivot to fullstack. like 70% of frontend jobs have been wiped out since the beginning of this year in my experience
>>

Yeah, maybe that is the correct approach.
What is the easiest one to learn? Python maybe, or should I go to something that is sure to get my a job?
>>
>>109317654
just start applying to fullstack react + python/node.js roles right away while learning node.js first and then python. almost all startups use that stack and enterprises use .NET/java

Hey anons

I've been unemployed since getting my IT degree two years ago, and recently got a shitload of experience and certs in ethical hacking (even though every IT job rejects me for not having "experience"). Recently the air national guard has been hounding me to enlist and join their cyber warfare program since I qualify on the asvab.

I'm scared of going tomorrow and signing the contract. Should I do it? My friends and family keep giving me conflicting advice, and joining the military is something I've never been keen to do.

Have any anons gone back for grad school? Did it help?

Coming up on two years of unemployment since my CS undergrad. I live with my parents. I tried for a year to land a government job which didn't work out. I did some shitty "IT" job for a few months which I ended up quitting because it was just so demeaning. Now I self-study and work on personal projects full time.

Honestly, I don't even care about having a degree specifically. I just want something on my resume for now to apply for student internships or something. I don't care about the debt.

In a way this feels like only way out. I'm at the point now where I don't even want to apply for stuff because I know that even if I do get to an interview I'll just blow it because I have almost nothing to be marketable, or they'll want to know what I've been doing for all this time without a job.
I figure in the worst case its a resume gap filler. In the best case maybe it opens to door to a job, research, connections, etc.

they'll take anyone. the jobs are bullshit though, you're just gonna be standing in a walmart trying to sell people phones or whatever. or worse, knock door to door

anyway, i have an offer from skillstorm (revature basically), but they require a security clearance, and my financial history/debt would probably get me rejected. i think i'm done with tech

how fucking stupid is it to try to get into IT? im also canadian and it seems like we're clamping down on indian labour because the juice is no longer worth the squeeze. i basically refuse to get a degree when AI is a thing because education in the ai-dependant climate would be a scarlet letter, long term. "You went to college in 2027? You definitely cheated, NEXT" type of thing. I'm also hot and a degenerate freak so unironically huffing a furry's ass for a job [see: "networking"] is on the table for the actual get-a-job process. But yeah how bad is the market and what would you all recommend? CompTIA's A+ definitely seems like a good starting point, can anyone vouch for the resources to learning the material enough to pass which aren't paywalled?

>>109320229
You are out of touch with reality on most of what you said in current climate. This field has become corpo slop. Being very technically strong is barely an asset, the hiring climate now is they want to see signals that you'd be a good cog in their machine, not that you're good at understanding GUIs or you can use a linux terminal or you can code or whatever. The days of the techie being valued for his technical skills are pretty much over, the field got saturated and now you're viewed more as a combination laborer/construction worker+business consultant/middle manager type rather than someone who gets paid for their unique technical skillset and ability to use their brain to solve problems

I think anon has good chances if he moves to some tech hub like SF or idk what exists in Canada and sits in a cafe all day being hyper focused on his tranny act. You are right of course that technical skills arent valued anymore but he is also right that a degree matters very little these days. The point is making connections going to events and showing interest works best if you are young doesnt work if you are older.
At least thats been my experience as a neet that has a degree and cannot escape the cycle...

Summary of today:
>Interview one, Company A (scenario panel interview, what would you do in X, what do you think of this image I'm sharing)
Went well, definitely a few areas I could've scored more points in. They also asked me two weirdo behavioral questions (I hate those). 7.5/10

>Interview two, company B (live coding interview, leetcode easy-medium)
Went almost perfectly, solved the question correctly and was able to answer the follow up questions, when asked to improve the time complexity I came up with a concept of a solution that didn't really work and needed a hint, but upon being given the hint I was able to solve it perfectly with optimal time complexity. 8.5/10

>Interview three, company B (behavioral interview)
Hard to say, I hate these interviews. I think I gave decent answers. 5.5-6/10. They kept asking me questions about security... lol

We were a web hosting company, also offering servers and our own cloud platform, plus we had a datacentre downstairs that was far more lucrative than any of the fun services. In the end, we got bought out by another datacentre company who don't know the first fucking thing about Linux or how websites work, and they abolished those services so we could focus on plugging in cables and opening doors for customers whenever they came to visit. That was literally my job for like two years. I could easily be a Linux systems administrator now, but web hosting is basically kill. However, for any job I applied for, I always didn't quite have the specialist knowledge to only do that job. Maybe I just give interviewers the ick. Also, I live in England so all your America-centric jibber-jabber about making $150,000 to do a job that's easier than mine was does not apply to me, and my experience of the job market might be slightly different since private equity vultures don't fund startups over here in anything like the same way.
