>I am forgotten
What else do you hate about the rise of AI?
>>
nobody forgot that that rusts
>>
>I am forgotten

That's what.

I want models to be so fast that the actual toolcalls in my agents become the bottleneck and we're going to need faster CPUs again.
Currently CPUs are boring as fuck. Any random $300 CPU from AMD or Intel has like 16 cores and is plenty of fast that most of the time is spent waiting on the model to go through its CoT and produce a response rather than executing the compiler, grep, toolcall, etc. itself
>>
>LGA1700 gets new relevance thanks to it's DDR4 support and powerful CPU's like the i9-12900K
AMD fucked up by not making AM5 geared for both DDR4 and DDR5, hence why they can only keep AM4 on life support.
>>
I'm exited about what hardware might emerge with the advent of AI.
Seriously, it would be cool to have self replicating/evolving chips that suit themselves to the needs of the software in real time
>>
>>109306684
People calling it Ai. It's just an algorithm.
>>
>>109306716
excited*
>>
>>109306684
I’m content with my 14900K and 64GB DDR5 RAM. Costs being so high right now only mean my equipment will stay relevant longer.
>>
I don't understand, how did AI make a 14900K obsolete?
>>
lack of entry office desktop intel ultra processors
>>
>>109306684
Oxidised CPUs are confined to the dustbin of history, but glad you made it this far.
>>
>>109309797
But then people will just buy those up and make bitcoin rigs and AI GPU racks instead.
>>
>>109306684
>>109306694
As someone making bank selling AI powered SaaS I'm gonna say skill issue
>>
>>109306684
I didn't forget it, worst cpu i ever had, didn't last a day without crashes, second one lasted a month
This shit traumatized me from Intel, i only ever get rare crashes on my AMD CPUs and those are from my code or legit bugs
>>109306888
Don't blame game and app devs when your cpu corrupts its RIP register with an off by one error and end up executing the last byte of the little endian encoded rip relative memory operand of the last instruction it executed as an instruction or when it starts to declare that 32bit mov is an illegal instruction(both happened on my 14900kek)
>>
I'm still using mine (in an iMac) every day, it's comfy
unless the GPU gets hammered, then the fans kick in and it's sorta sad
>>
>>109306684
cpu is useless, unless they're able to do the same compute with same bandwidth as gpu
>>
>>109306702
>toolcalls
They'd rather replace the tools with more AI and CPUs will stay irrelevant
>>
>>109306684
These fucking RAM and SSD prices.
>>
>>109306718
That's what AI is, you contrarian loser
>>
>>109306684
>I am corroded
FTFY
>>
>>109312113
>cpu is useless
why do intelligence agencies love them then? They seem to not care about GPU advancements at all...
>>
>>109312450
thats because government moves at glacial pace and with debt being close to $40 trillion, the funding is bit dry

us gov's super computers got completely overlapped by AI data center build up
>>
>>109312450
CPUs control every other piece of hardware
GPUs are isolated to receiving commands
>>
>>109311847
The 14900K replacement I got is warranted until 2029, and the apps that were crashing before on the failing model are working fine now. The replacement processor even runs cooler. I strongly believe the OG 14900K I bought at launch was defective.
>>
>>109313669
probably just a shit bin
bad ones need 1.50v at 6ghz while really good ones need 1.38-1.42v for 6ghz
>>
>>109306684
I'm never going to forget my home insurance premiums doubling when I bought one of those.
Incel: buy twice, cry once.
>>
>>109313709
That's my conclusion too. Just checked the mobo temp right now and it's at 33C. 72F in the house. I'm good with it. I came to this from a 2600K which still works fine to this day.
