okay i got logitech mx mechanical wireless keyboard. some mchose wireless mouse i forgor which one.now i am heavily debating snagging an ultra wide monitor at walmart but i think the lowest they have is like 3180 x 2160 at 34" is that a meme? i heard anything less than 4k on 34" is a meme. maybe ill wait for monitor tech to evolve so i can get a 4k 34" 180hz monitor for cheap.also want wireless headphones but i have sennheiser hd6xx headphones already i considered airpods max 2 but probably a meme. i could also just use my macbook speakers.wireless is probably a meme but im keeping all of my wired peripherals in case this stuff is a meme and/or dies on me. maybe im just a dumb retarded consumer but yeah.also im switching from 2 monitors back to 1 which is why im considering an ultrawide. but all the ones i saw at walmart were curved which is beyond nauseating. i have no idea why curved monitors exist.

I am currently rocking a 14900k with 32gb of DDR4. I managed to buy 32gb of DDR5 for really cheap from my friend (basically what he paid for it a year ago).Should I go AMD or just grab a new Z790 DDR5 motherboard and keep my 14900k? Or maybe just flip the DDR5? I mainly game.

>>109310826I have a 42 inch oled that I use as a monitor and I can't decide if I like it or not as a monitor. It's kinda big when you're sitting right in front of it. There's a lot of head movement involved when looking at game huds, and I kinda feel like they have more intense image retention compared to an oled monitor which intimidates me a bit. Also watching videos on it as opposed to a smaller 4k monitor, you tend to notice the compression more on the tv.Also had a lot of bad connection issues but I think I fixed that by shelling out for better cables.

>>109311186The gist is lower FPI (~12-14) radiators if your target fan RPM is under 1200 and higher FPI (~16-18) radiators for running fans over 1200 RPM.For every 120mm of radiators that's ~100-125w worth of dissipation for 140mm it's ~125-150wIf you only have 2x 360mm radiators you might pick the thickest and highest FPI rads with push-pull fans that you can fit in the case. Once you get higher than that you can go for thinner, lower FPI rads with low speed fans. It's one of those things however where things get really loose, really fast. Is it going to be horrible if you accidently picked up low FPI rads for higher RPMs? No not at all. Same thing with high FPI rads with lower speed fans. It all ends up being within a few degrees difference in water temperature. If you think you're going to really need to think about it, just add another radiator and suddenly nothing is a problem.

I have had my Steam Machine for several days now. Quick review:- Absolutely stellar set up experience. Your grandma could do it.- SteamOS is easy to log in, navigate and play your games. Everything learned from the Steam Deck is showing.- Had one issue where 5.1 audio would cause a one second audio cutout every minute or so, but moved input from HDMI 4 to 3 on my HiSense U88N and it fixed it? I blame the TV.- Perf is good. I was a bit worried from a bit of the early reviews but all the games I threw at run great. Sure they aren't in 4k HIGH QUALITY, but they all run at 60fps or better with AMD FSR and medium/high settings. I was surprised getting 70+ fps in Diablo IV at 4k.- It's very quiet. I have it in my TV stand (as shown below) but I never hear it even when running very demanding games. Cooling seems to work out even in the cabinet with the door closed.- Everyone in my family wants a round on it, now its super easy to log into their Steam account and play their games on the TV!It's a shame the price is so high because of the RAM AI crisis, but this is still going to sell well. It's a solid package of good design and decent performance. If you want to play PC games on your TV, its a great option. Also the red face plate is the best one. Set the light to green for that watermelon summer feel!

My motherboard had a failed ram channel. I had to replace it and I got the exact same one. Same model same everything. Then when my PC fires up, my windows says deactivated. I contact support and they said even though it’s the same motherboard, I will need to buy windows again.I showed them the invoice and my hardware specs, and they doubled down. Motherboard failure = pay us.So lame. I did NOT buy an OEM key. I bought a Windows 11 home key then upgraded to Pro. >>109317002do it, board doesn't really matter for DDR4 speedjust don't count on 4400 gear 1 lmaodon't really know where 13th gen usually tops out, maybe ~4133
>>109317002If you haven't bought it yet, don't. Get a 14600K instead, 13th and 14th gen i7s and i9s are the ones that die really fast, luckily the curse hadn't touched the i5s.
>>109317020just wait for raptor lake next and get a non-rotting cpu instead>>109316972I wanted to plug my xlr mic to an actual interface instead of using it through the usb connection but apparently it isn't worth itmy dac is better than the low end audio interface I'd buy so I'll just using stuff the way I am already
>>109317020My 14700k is still going. I guess intel didn't lie that some of them are alright. If intel doesn't make good shit by the time i'm changing my PC i'll probably go AMD, despite how useful e-cores could be.
>>109317090Lucky you. Did you undervolt it from the get-go? Apparently too-high stock voltages are the cause of degradation (not the core voltage, IIRC, it was something else that I forgot).
>>109316909>geekbench
>>109317106I let it run totally unimpeded for a couple of months, then got XTU after the inevitable shader compile crashes happened on UE5 games first time playing them on the setup.I dunno if I avoided the whole voltage fryup by buying a rev 1.1 board for the 14th gens or not.I'm running Death Stranding 2 and my vcore is floating around 1.4V though. One thing I did do with XTU was lock the cpu to both 253W and IccMax at 307A, kills overclocking but not gonna take any big chances. Might undervolt at some point
is it worth installing SteamOS on a all AMD build?
>>109317277if you want to only use it on a tv yeah if not no. i think you still need to edit the install script if you want to install it on an sata ssd i think or a second nvme.
>>109317216>One thing I did do with XTU was lock the cpu to both 253W and IccMax at 307ANow I remember, it was the too-high current that fried the processors. Guess it's exactly what saved your CPU.Also, is 1.4V the average? If so, do consider tinkering with it, it can spike higher than that by 100mV, totally inside the specs, but Intel said high currents and voltages were a norm as well back then.>>109317277Bazzite is pretty much a SteamOS for everyone that isn't Gaben fanboy. Just with Fedora lineage.P.S. I just got an Arch logo in my captcha.

>>109316692Sounds like user error and not the gpus at that point
>>109316963Sir it will be 11000 series have you not noticed they only do odd numbers except on the apus
>>109317501I know, it's just... I've never got bad parts on the used market before, and I even took every precaution necessary (Furmark, see it with my own eyes, etc).Guess RMS cursed me for buying a Macbook earlier this year.
>>109316963Celestial will be iGPUs only. You'd get your new Intel dGPUs with Druid. If you're still alive by then.
>>109310700which 5090s are the ones to avoid (besides the price of course)how is the Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Gaming OC Triple Fanalso anyone using the AMD Pro r9700 or Pro 4500 RTX for comfyui video generation? how is it?
>>109312962i bought an NH-D15 for $50 like 8 years ago. it's poop brown not black but still. over 3x price increase lol
>>109317090my 14700K is also totally fine, bought it last yearhasn't lost a single millivoltall of them are alright if you run them on the new microcode>>109317106you could kill 14th gen even with an undervolt on the old BIOSesthe VR voltage limit is what's important>>109317216>then got XTU after the inevitable shader compile crashes happened on UE5 games first time playing them on the setupalso normal on old BIOSes, not necessarily a sign of degradation>One thing I did do with XTU was lock the cpu to both 253W and IccMax at 307A, kills overclockingyou can still overclock with those limits, in my experience you only need ~320A IccMax to extract full performance out of the CPU in cinebench14900K will of course require slightly more but i don't think more than 350A is necessary for any daily 14th gen setup

>>109310700what the fuck is that screen?it's got a handle on its back?
>>109317772probably a broadcasting/ public viewing display. those have those. i don't know the real name but they have their own category and are meant to run 24/7 or 18/7 most of the time.

>>109317772It's a flexible screen. You bend it by those handles.
How the fuck do i align all the motherboard screws? I suspect the motherboard's panel is the culprit, but i literally can't fit in in the back, i tried applying force.
why are all pc cases fucking squares with meshes and a fuckton of rgb fans
>>109317849just buy a good case
I just got a 9070 (non-xt) to play at 4k60 and I'm really enjoying it. Should I also swap my 3900x with a 5800x3d? I'm thinking about staying on AM4 and skipping AM5, since AM6 is supposed to be released in 2-3 years anyway. Do you think it's a worthwhile upgrade that will last me into 2030 and beyond, or is the 3900x enough for 4k gaming?
>>109317852If you think so.
>>109317873Or rather 3-4 years for AM6, my bad.
>>109317873Get a X3D and flash your 9070 into a xt and you are good until AM6/UDNA
>>109317873you need to get a 9950x3d2 and a blackwell 6000.
>>109317896Is there any risk involved with the xt bios upgrade?>>109317911lol
What are reasonable prices for a 250 gb ssd nowadays?Wanted to buy a separate 250 gb ssd to test out new operating systems. Haven't looked at prices since 2024. 150 FUCKING DOLLARS? The last time I looked they were like 50 dollars maximum. Fuck the clankers.

>>109318103Are those real?Last time I heard anything about ssds on ali express were when they sold 5 gb sd cards embedded in 2.5 ssds with modified firmware that made them look like 250 gb ones.

Guys I need a no frills computer for only internet stuff, can you recommend me one that is no more than $200? Prebuilt or not built is okay, thanks.
