okay i got logitech mx mechanical wireless keyboard. some mchose wireless mouse i forgor which one.

I am currently rocking a 14900k with 32gb of DDR4. I managed to buy 32gb of DDR5 for really cheap from my friend (basically what he paid for it a year ago).

I have a 42 inch oled that I use as a monitor and I can't decide if I like it or not as a monitor. It's kinda big when you're sitting right in front of it. There's a lot of head movement involved when looking at game huds, and I kinda feel like they have more intense image retention compared to an oled monitor which intimidates me a bit.
Also watching videos on it as opposed to a smaller 4k monitor, you tend to notice the compression more on the tv.
Also had a lot of bad connection issues but I think I fixed that by shelling out for better cables.

The gist is lower FPI (~12-14) radiators if your target fan RPM is under 1200 and higher FPI (~16-18) radiators for running fans over 1200 RPM.
For every 120mm of radiators that's ~100-125w worth of dissipation for 140mm it's ~125-150w

If you only have 2x 360mm radiators you might pick the thickest and highest FPI rads with push-pull fans that you can fit in the case. Once you get higher than that you can go for thinner, lower FPI rads with low speed fans.

It's one of those things however where things get really loose, really fast. Is it going to be horrible if you accidently picked up low FPI rads for higher RPMs? No not at all. Same thing with high FPI rads with lower speed fans. It all ends up being within a few degrees difference in water temperature.
If you think you're going to really need to think about it, just add another radiator and suddenly nothing is a problem.

Is the use of dlss basically admitting that your computer can't handle certain games? I thought the best way to play a game was always just natively.

I have had my Steam Machine for several days now. Quick review:

- Absolutely stellar set up experience. Your grandma could do it.

- SteamOS is easy to log in, navigate and play your games. Everything learned from the Steam Deck is showing.

- Had one issue where 5.1 audio would cause a one second audio cutout every minute or so, but moved input from HDMI 4 to 3 on my HiSense U88N and it fixed it? I blame the TV.

- Perf is good. I was a bit worried from a bit of the early reviews but all the games I threw at run great. Sure they aren't in 4k HIGH QUALITY, but they all run at 60fps or better with AMD FSR and medium/high settings. I was surprised getting 70+ fps in Diablo IV at 4k.

- It's very quiet. I have it in my TV stand (as shown below) but I never hear it even when running very demanding games. Cooling seems to work out even in the cabinet with the door closed.

- Everyone in my family wants a round on it, now its super easy to log into their Steam account and play their games on the TV!

It's a shame the price is so high because of the RAM AI crisis, but this is still going to sell well. It's a solid package of good design and decent performance. If you want to play PC games on your TV, its a great option.

Also the red face plate is the best one. Set the light to green for that watermelon summer feel!

I've decided to finally move off of winblows 11 and its stupid bullshit now that SteamOS was given the green light to AMD computers. I tested whether or not I'd like it by forcing myself to use a docked Steam Deck (I bought it when it was new) for a month and I honestly didn't feel bad about it, it's just not powerful enough for me to do all of my tasks.

I dual boot 7/linux. Vermeer and RDNA2 GPUs are the last ones to have official drivers for 7. It's been 4 years now and I am content. If you keep the boot drive for 11 separate from linux by putting linux in a separate SSD or NVMe it should keep microslop from nuking it.

My motherboard had a failed ram channel. I had to replace it and I got the exact same one. Same model same everything. Then when my PC fires up, my windows says deactivated. I contact support and they said even though it’s the same motherboard, I will need to buy windows again.

I threw out an 8th gen i3 (and mobo), a dead aio, and the old case to give wife a light upgrade and get the case she wanted. The ram is reused 2400, gpu is a reused 6600, reused a 550w gold, nvme is a 512gb one I got from the scrap bin at work, and there is her old 4tb hdd in the back for storage space. I pulled out a 32gb intel optane nvme, a 240gb ssd, a 1tb ssd from the old machine as well that will go in the hard drive pile. I may try setting up the optane in one of my other computers as just swap space. Told her no actually new computers until am6 since it will be out in 2028 anyway.

Depends on the GPU. If you're running anything up to like a 5070 any higher end ryzen 5000 with high boost clocks should be fine with minimal CPU bottlenecks. If you're running something like a 5080 then even a 5800x3d will cause a bottleneck.

AM4 should be correct. I think AM5 socket usage started at around AMD Ryzen 3/5/7 7XXX.
With some special coolers it could be that they overlap some ram slots, blocking you from putting ram there.
This is a pretty standard mobo with standard CPU cooler, it should fit.
Else the motherboard info should tell you about which coolers don't fit.
Usually this is only a concern with products focused on space saving.

Any higher on the P cores and E cores i need to start upping the voltage, it is still undervolted, even just another 100mhz on them and i have to go around +40 or 50mv to even pass geekbench, so i think i've hit the wall for air cooling. And this fucking memory kit is crazy bros, from cl30 to 8000mhz cl 38 1h OCCT stable. Now i know that doesn't mean it's completely stable but it's certainly a good start, and it's only at 1.435v.

Lucky you. Did you undervolt it from the get-go? Apparently too-high stock voltages are the cause of degradation (not the core voltage, IIRC, it was something else that I forgot).

I let it run totally unimpeded for a couple of months, then got XTU after the inevitable shader compile crashes happened on UE5 games first time playing them on the setup.
I dunno if I avoided the whole voltage fryup by buying a rev 1.1 board for the 14th gens or not.
I'm running Death Stranding 2 and my vcore is floating around 1.4V though.
One thing I did do with XTU was lock the cpu to both 253W and IccMax at 307A, kills overclocking but not gonna take any big chances. Might undervolt at some point

is it worth installing SteamOS on a all AMD build?

if you want to only use it on a tv yeah if not no. i think you still need to edit the install script if you want to install it on an sata ssd i think or a second nvme.

Now I remember, it was the too-high current that fried the processors. Guess it's exactly what saved your CPU.
Also, is 1.4V the average? If so, do consider tinkering with it, it can spike higher than that by 100mV, totally inside the specs, but Intel said high currents and voltages were a norm as well back then.
