>>109312432They do, but CRTs also degraded over time, and so did the LCDs with CCFL backlight they would progressively get dimmer as the backlight degraded. A well-made LCD with an LED backlight that's cooled properly and not overdriven is the only monitor technology that is near-impossible to kill.

>>109318226Yeah IPS has been solved and self-sabotaged for so long it's old enough to have grandkids. If someone wanted to have a state monitor factory at this point I'd support it. A polarizing layer and RGB LEDs just aren't that expensive.
I don't know why /g/ keeps ignoring VA, it's clearly the best when the display manufacturers kept investing in it until OLED.

I have 8639 hours on my LG C4, bought in October 2024. It is my main computer monitor and constantly has static images like my taskbar. There is no burn in.

The way it's solved, is how apple does it, keeps track of how long each pixel was on, then adjusts the brightness of individual pixels to account for their decay, that is not a solution its a bandaid.
