>delete Linux and freshly install Monterey on my Air to sell the mf

How do Mac users even use this shit?
>>
Probably because their computers actually do something.
Unlike Troonix, which is for fetch threads and nothing else.
>>
>>109323625
that's less ram that linux mint would use on that system
Only Windows has been lean on ram consumption in a commercial OS, and that ended with version 7
>>

Imagine being this brain damaged. Windows 8.x was WAY ligher on RAM than Windows 7.
But I would expect nothing else from a 7nile - you're the pathlogically lying freetards of the Windows world.

Kek its true, they're like the worst aspects of a linux evangelist, but in this case their distro isnt even being fucking maintained.

there doesnt seem to be any memory pressure. what's the problem?

MacOS is certified Troonix
>>
>>109323625
Holy fuck that's awful, Ubuntu with GNOME idles at 1.5GB of RAM and that's the end of the world when it comes to FOSS bloat, it's pretty disturbing the RAM usage is that high, and you could still get a Mac with 8GB of soldered memory for the longest time up until pretty recent.

There's nothing funnier than "technically inclined" people, after 50 years of using them, STILL NOT UNDERSTANDING what a disk cache is, or how one works.

macOS uses unified memory, its compressed 8gb is comparable to 16gb on windows
>>
>>109328498
windows and linux had compressed memory decades before your bloated 50gb on boot saarOS

The way BSD and Mac OS uses ram, is it will create a ram pressure table and learn over time how you use it. As much as I loathe Macs, you are retarded. The ram isn't being used, it is being utilized. If Prog_A needs 1gb of ram and Prog_B needs 256mb of ram, it will give them both some "room" using a 3rd ghost Prog_%~1a and give it 2gb of ram and load both programs into said table and allow them to breathe in this shared space. This is known as ram pressuring. A program can sit in less ram than it is using and use UP TO the amount of ram allotted to it within the pressure map grouping. So you can load 50 programs into that map group, there is really no limit outside of the allotted ram. There are certain programs that will ask for MORE or a new table. The kernel uses it's ai to figure out how you are using your system and best provide what it thinks you need during this training period. This has been a thing since Mac OS 10.1.

I just use BSD so I know how it works and OP is just a retard, and I get that, but I figured I would drop the information for posterity sake.

Some people like products that are everything you need and nothing you don't and Windows/Mac are very heavy on the ya don't stuff.

>Windows/Mac are very heavy on the ya don't stuff.
It's true, so much bullshit running in the background, unnecessary animations that take up CPU cycles, I was using software update to get to Mac OS 12.7.6, and the whole process took longer than it takes to install Ubuntu or Linux Mint themselves, it's ridiculous... And what a waste of really decent hardware, cause when you run Linux on it you're using like 700mb of RAM, which means you can open up tons of shit, the desktop environment isn't doing a bunch of snazzy shit, which means a faggy MacBook Air with 8Gb of RAM and a U class chip is actually a really capable computer, but you revert it back to MacOS, it's garbage, gonna have to upgrade to an M5 Max Macbook pro or whatever to feel any sort of speed.

>>109334388
You would think Greta would be pissed about all this.
>>
>>109334489
She really should be when you think about it, all the energy saved from computers collectively using less CPU power to get stuff done without a bunch of nonsense, and getting it done faster.

It's unfortunately the cringe A1466 2017 Air, but at least Applel let you take the SSD out, the retina macbook air and beyond, you are absolutely fucked if there's a hardware failure and you can't get the drive out, or the drive dies and you can't get the drive out.
