It's over bro. If they managed to catch a hacker over a VPN and 3 proxies, I'm done, nigga. It feels so fucking nasty that every keystroke is logged, this fucking GDID is tied to my IP, my WinKey and my ms email. Even if you use a VPN windows will always see your real IP. This is so fucking disgusting. And when this whole AI bullshit evolves even more they can actively see the shit on your screen (like recall) and then have your local NPU summarize it and send it back to the MS servers and report it to palantir and your local authorities.

I hate technology. We all need a thinkpad with Linux and a PlayStation 2.

the best time to leave windows was 5 years ago.
the next best time is now.
>>
I remember when intel put that unique ID instruction in the CPUs. Slashdot were losing their shit. Dire predictions of what would happen if all the closed source browsers of the day just started handing it to anyone who requested it with no option to disable it. In the end the fuss that was kicked up WORKED. Intel had to address the controversy, browsers had to not provide any mechanism to get at it and in the end it became a fancy asset tracking tag for corpos.
GDID is that but with stealth. It's already in place and Microsoft already have your machine IDs logged because it just phones home with your unique machine ID every time it has telemetry to send back to the mothership. And if you ever signed in to a microsoft account in edge, you bet it sent that ID with it even if you think your local account protects you. And even if you haven't, you think Microsoft aren't smart enough to say "we saw a GDID from 10.11.12.14, and then shortly afterwards a signin from the same IP, we'll just add that GDID to that account with a certainty of 90%."
>>
>>109329461
Holy fuck we actually need schizos like you. I didn't think about that. This is fucking scary and I never heard about the Intel shit. Your browser example sounds horrifying. A VPN is pointless, if Microsoft will just hand out "your I'D" to anyone who requests it. Or imagine Apps will require that for "anti bot" or "security". Am App like discord could request that ID and check if you were ever banned. This is literally 1945 and everyone is brand marked

>normies are finding out about GDID and suddenly care
That """hacker""" that got busted was a complete retard, what kind of genuine monkey brained fucking dipshit uses WINDOWS for illegal shit? Even fucking MAC would have been a better choice, at least Apple have some history of resisting feds to a reasonable degree (at least in public). Microslop just open their cheeks whenever the feds even look in their direction.
Its like wearing a mask with your real name and pictures of your face printed all over it. Genuine madness, windows has this for a long time hasn't it?

If you use Windows after MS tried to push Recall you deseve to be farmed like cattle. It doesn't matter that it wouldn't work on x86, the idea that a company if comfortable with pushing that idea at all is so beyond dystopian anyone with a shred of integrity should have left by now.
>>
>>109329362
>zoomers find out that GDID exists
kek, i congratulate glowies for somehow managing to memoryhole it this long, because it was a huge scandal when Microsoft started doing it... and seemingly people simply forgot.
Just wait till they find out that Cloudflare terminates SSL!
Or till they realize that glowies control root CAs, so https isn't protected against MitM attacks at all!
Or till they realize that session cookies can be grabbed and that you shouldn't check the "keep me logged in" box!

>wouldn't 2FA prevent this
No it doesn't.
Getting your session cookie stolen bypasses all authentication methods. You could use a Yubikey to log into Google, and still get your account stolen by an infostealer grabbing the cookie.

And it's actually most common cause of accounts being stolen. LTT got their youtube account stolen in that way.
(((They))) just don't tell you, because they do not want you to log out. Of course Google wants you to have the cookie at all times. Google isn't going to tell you to delete it, lol, nor are they going to make it easy. Many platforms don't even give you the choice anymore, they are logged-in always per default.

Back then, during the time of Internet Cafes, everybody knew this.
>>

The only thing that doesn’t compared to amd is partial gpu passthrough, which isn’t something average consoomer will ever need
>>
>>109329362
This is on Windows 10 too right? And how would using a Microsoft account to play Halo MCC on Steam and Minecraft with your common username not have the same effect? I would be unsurprised if everything is not fingerprinted now.
>>
>>109329718
Of course it’s fingerprinted but modern g is full of know nothing cattle eho is surprised that (gasp!) a surveillance corp like microsoft is indeed surveilling people. Oh they upload all your documents to onedrive? Nothing to see. Recall screenshots your desktop every few minutes? Yea that’s just to help you, well, recall things! Pushing mandatory online activation? Yep makes sense.
But a fucking device id? No way fag THIS is hard proof!
>>
>>109329643
If you give the VM access to the internet and sign in to any microsoft services (even not on the VM) you are just going down the same path. You have to keep the VM locked down otherwise it'll just functionally be identical to a native install of windows. I'm guessing the windows programs you have to use are cloud enabled shit so you can't just disable the VM's network?
>>
>>109329426
Linus is a manlet, luke is the real adult in the room.
>>
>>109329718
Obviously there's layers and layers of trackers and multiple sources of information. The big deal is that this is a globally unique identifier that follows you that microsoft has already given up to the feds, so it's not theoretical. We were fine with the idea that SOME of what we do is tracked, and the feds knowing that you played MCC on Thursday and Minecraft on Friday is not a scary prospect. But connecting to a VPN to access secure shit and then later finding out Microsoft goes "oh shit, a VPN, better log it against your unique identifier" that's a serious fucking problem. "Just don't sign in on the VPN bro" is no protection anymore.

You think you will be getting straight teeth and in the end end up losing them.
>>
>>109329369
>They have to if you use their services and the feds ask for it

this is an inherent flaw of the "product-as-a-service" business model: if everything was on a user's local device and the company providing software had no access, or at least anonymized access (for updates), then they couldn't be forced at gunpoint by glowies to give backdoor access without having the legal defense of saying "a backdoor for one is a backdoor for all" which actually did hold up for apple back when they had their customer's best interest in mind.

your only other option would be to have a service based in a non 14-eyes country, non-russia, and non-china which is very hard

I suspect cloudflare has been doing this longer. I got a computer from a foreign country, it was sold as something that was broken, there was nothing wrong with it other than the reseller not having it's proprietary psu. It had a fresh install of windows with the oobe at startup. When I got online it immediately bombarded me with heaps of those gay captcha shits to verify I wasn't a robot. Never had that experience before, so I can only assume cloudflare is saving hardware identifiers everytime an unrecognized MAC or TPM is detected in traffic.

Even tech nerds that love digital erector sets outline how they regularly have to spend hours fixing simple shit that shouldn't be a problem like bluetooth, printers, wifi, or using an incredibly common piece of software.

Ok this is it.
Of course most shit was obvious and I haven't used windows for years.
But I always had a bad feeling and thought i might have to give in when it comes to cagie, but fuck no. I will not take a job that forces me to use windows. Fuck them. Not doing it.
Yes, this will reduce the available jobs from non-existant to non-existant, but i dont give a shit at this point.

You use a stock Android phone all your life with a phone number with your name attached to it while the device has an IMEI. This information is passed to your carrier and Google and thus the government and is profiling you 24/7. You don't actually care, you just pretend to be outraged while you continue to be spied on like the future prisoner or mass grave occupant you are.

Can someone explain why as a kid, a I could extract multiple-part zip files by simply clicking extract on the first one and it would do them all, but now I have to extract each zip file manually and then manually merger the folders together?? The only thing I can think of, is that Microsoft want to make piracy harder because some people pirate stuff via zip files, but why the fuck does 7zip not let me do it?

>mfw freetards on /g/ have stooped so low they are regurgitating Linus Sebastian regurgitating "GDID" headlines and going onto an emotional shitflinging fest without thinking for themselves for one second
Picrel is 19 y/o Peter Stokes, the guy who initiated this whole shitfest of journoshittery. This absolute retard was committing extortion cybercrimes while openly bragging about them online. He was essentially giving himself to the feds. Only after they clapped down on his shit did they get their hands on their hardware.

As it turns out, this titan of intellect, the fighter for software freedoms that not a single freetard regurgitating these headlines (you can forget about them reading the fucking articles lol), had absolutely ZERO opsec. Doing cybercrimes from Windows is one thing.

He:
-used his Microsoft account
-didn't bother with any memescripts
-zero hardening whatsoever
-he did his personal browsing on the same machine he used to extort businesses
-using Microsoft Edge with all of it's default telemetry
After the feds hit up MS, the only role GDID has was to cross-reference the anonymized telemetry data with Stokes. Here's the kicker: if he did as little as installed Firefox instead of using Edge, the GDID cross-referencing wouldn't help the feds out, and even then they already had him cooked cuz dude was this retarded.

Of course all the freetards will just call me a paid pajeet Microsoft shill or whatever their canned response to being proven wrong is nowadays, but remember that whenever they bring up GDID, they are exposing themselves as ignorant Dunning-Kruger retards that blindly believe in journoscum headlines if it benefits their worldview. Lowest form of cattle imaginable.

That's the kicker, best practice privacy policy is don't take 1 word for law. You have to actually DYOR and seek. It has a lot of friction which is why plebs get sold VPN half measures that do nothing.
>>
>>109329362
The feds rarely disclose how they actually catch people on the net. They usually use some BS excuse to cover and use other evidence they find after they seize hardware to convict. There was probably more to the story on how they caught the guy too.

Just like those secret National Security Letter's the FBI sends to service providers demanding info, they were probably trying their best to keep the use of GD-IN on the DL as long as possible. I bet they even used one of those NSL's to get Microsoft to hand over the GD-IN to circumnavigate the warrant process.

Why would scripts or hardening matter when you're using an OS that is fundamentally a botnet?

this enrages and confuses the freetard NPC
