It might've only had a meagre three-year warranty, but it lasted eight years of active use and then four years of random use after that. Resolution doesn't matter, it's the pixel density it confers at 27" that matters for everything including text and photos.

I have an old dogshit benq xl2411 as my side monitor that only manages to do 60hz via HDMI and 144hz via DVI Dual Link. It's too old and budget-y to have had a DP port at the it was manufactured. Problem is that my 4070S doesn't have a DVI port.
All the discussions surrounding it is quite old but I was just wondering if there's a way (adapter or otherwise) to get this sucker running at 144hz again because the 60hz ghosting is absolutely unbearable even as a side monitor and I remember it being smooth as butter and having zero ghosting at 144hz, at least in it's prime nearly a decade ago.
I've tried DVI-DP adapters before but it seems like they're all single link (60hz) so I don't know if I'm just shit out of luck here.

I have a 77" S95F because I have big windows with a nice view which I use to impress my guests. I get why people hate matte but the utility for me was essential since I didn't want to limit my viewing to darkness. I have the matching soundbar and I would recommend investing more money on sound and getting the biggest screen you can afford. From sitting distance you're not going to care about the quality as much but the sounds is night and day. I mainly watch movies and anime on it. I can't assess it for games yet. I need a new 1440p monitor around $500. I mostly game and am fairly sensitive to poor motion clarity.
Is a budget OLED my only option at this price range?
I obviously want the best looking monitor I can get and with minimal to no ghosting but I am not very fond of the idea of a monitor that has to be maintained like a bonsai tree with the pixel shifting, lengthy refresh etc and still might only last me a few years.
MiniLED seems like an option as well but I'm having a hard time finding any winners that are also available locally. I've heard they're not perfect either of course but at least you know what you're getting (improved IPS with dimming, if I've understood it right)

So far I've considered the ASUS 27" ROG Strix XG27AQDMGR (a bit too expensive at MSRP but I've found an open box selling for $560 which could be worth overspending a bit) and the Xiaomi 27" G Pro 27Qi

Xbox was Ed Fries passion project and Xbox was a huge financial risk for microsoft. Those PC components cost a fortune compared to the cheap RISC hardware of PS2 and GC. They lost $125 for each console unit sold. Using a hard drive as a game data cache was also something never done before back in the day. It's so funny that Halo was used to advertise the NVIDIA GeForce 2 GTS and then that graphics card literally couldn't run Halo CE.

Xbox 360 Xenos was factually the first commercial GPU to have unified shaders, and remained the only one until Nvidia released the 8000 series in late 2006. It wasn't possible for any contemporary GPU to do what the 360 was doing in 2005. DX9 and eDRAM, 10MB, and the Xbox 360 does MSAA for free if you can fit your render targets within that 10MB limit.

Many game resolution on-screen was lowered to 960x544, with the developer deploying 4x multi-sampling anti-aliasing to smooth off the edges.

One reason MS switched from x86 on the first Xbox to PPC on the 360 was it ran too hot. This was Pentium 4 era.

They revisited x86-64 processors for the Xbox One (and Sony with PS4) because PowerPC was looking like a dead end at the time (ran too hot, bad choice for high performance embedded) and ARM hadn't caught up. It's so funny that Halo was used to advertise the NVIDIA GeForce 2 GTS and then that graphics card literally couldn't run Halo. Most GPUs were intentionally gimped out of Shader Model 2.0 and couldn't play Halo PC with specular highlights and bumpmapping. Gearbox had to potato-ify or remove many of the graphical effects when they ported the game to PC. Gearbox needed to write a fixed function renderer to support older 3D cards. Shaders had to be toned down for DX8 back then, the PC DirectX lacked a ton of calls present on the Og Xbox's DirectX.

The fact that the DOOM 3 port and Morrowind worked as well as it did on the original Xbox is a testament to how powerful it was, as many people were upgrading their pcs just to play it, and the port was running on a console from 2001 if I remember correctly.

Now devs have Ryzen X3D and 3090, 4090, 5090 to develop with and can only make UE5 jank lol
