I get the fact that it is customizable, uses openrc, no bloat and u compile the whole system so u get the best performance, however the compiling time is sooooo loooonnggg, to the point i am not even using my system anymore. Some people say to use the binaries, but then what even is the point to using gentoo?

Most people who don't run Gentoo say that it takes too long to compile each weekly update, but that isn't really true anymore with most hardware. if you have reasonable specs, you're fine, because you can just compile Gentoo over night. The whole ordeal of waiting for compiling can be postponed overnight and if you need a package immediately and cannot wait overnight, there is probably a binary build. That being said, not all hardware is that fast. If you a legitimate potato computer and waiting over night doesn't suffice, then there is no point anymore. You should be able to compile over night, so just try out whether that works for you, and if not, then use something else. That's the Gentoo rule of thumb.

For example, if you choose the GNOME desktop profile, everything will have a binary and you can get a GNOME desktop running very fast so you can actually start using your system. (This is just an example. I don't like GNOME.) You only need to compile when you're using custom (and obscure) USE flags, for example suppose you want to disable dbus system-wide because you don't like dbus, you'll probably end up with some exotic USE flags.
