In which Asian countries besides China, is it worth shopping for tech?

Which ones are expensive, Brazilian tarrifs tier? Japan is an obvious choice due to cheap exotic second hand hardware.

the japan glitch has already been patched out, they have domestic prices and then foreigner prices that are like 5x higher cus they want your gaijun dorrus

I lucked out last month when I went to India for work, bought a 13’’ M5 iPad Pro to replace my 12.9’’ M1 one because I noticed that, even paying the non-refundable Indian taxes, iPad Pros were much cheaper than elsewhere (except Hong-Kong but the difference was only about $2).
That 13’’ ended up costing roughly the same as a 11’’ where I live and the following week Apple raised their Mac/iPad prices worldwide AND aligned Indian iPad Pro prices to the world-standard, meaning the price of the same iPad Pro I bought increased by 54%!

Thailand. Bankok is full of places selling cheap gadgets.

Are you waiting for them to unlock the pro's m1 to a MacBook or did your get it for a different reason?

The M1’s screen started showing some issues (a small dark-ish dot, goes away and comes back in the same spot), wouldn’t have got a new one if not for the lower price in India.
My mom now uses my M1 to read her magazines, the screen is larger than her M1 iPad Air (my wife doesn’t want to change her Galaxy Tab S5e, otherwise she could have got it).

Man it's sad how crippled apple makes their hardware, it's the same chip in the MacBooks. Does the tab have OLED?

Well, I do kind of use it as a MacBook… but that’s only when I use it as a second screen for my actual MacBook Pro (now with touch support since MacOS 27’s beta).
But yeah, even if you get the Magic Keyboard (or a cheaper alternative) it’s much more limited than an actual MacBook for a similar price (or more expensive…).

The iPadPro got OLED screens in 2024 (MacBooks still don’t have OLED screens); my old one had a MiniLED screen (at that time only the 12.9’’ had MiniLED, now both screen sizes have OLED screens).
