I was using streetview the other day and stumbled on an old spot not yet updated. A blast from the past furnished within me a tingling sense of nostalgia. Then I remembered one of the reasons I can't stand google engineers: they don't understand 99% sometimes being better than 100%.

In runescape, there is a famous fence that hasn't been updated in 20 years. It's shoved into a corner, and you almost never interact with it. The playerbase went bonkers during a graphical update, pressuring the team to keep the fence old, and the devteam complied. This would never happen at google. Everything must be 100% all the time forever.

Google removed the ability to view old streetview snapshots; they still have them, you just can't see 'em. If there was a streetview spot from 2007, the internet would probably gather round and admire it, bathing in the nostalgia. Google's response would be to IMMEDIATELY update it to some new 365* ultra HD 8K hologram bullshit and 9/11 all the fun everyone is having. Why?

Because google's engineers are midwits, who can't understand 99% being better than 100.

No they didn't. There's a "see more dates" button in the top right corner that still lets you go all the way back to 2008.

Maybe it's actually you who's the midwit.

Feel free to show me where the button is :)

Have you tried:

- Alternate browser
- Alternate computer
- Alternate internet connection

Unless you have done all 3 and verified the same result of not seeing street view, you've just invented a fun story based on your limited understanding. If you want to believe that shit, you need to be ruthlessly skeptical and explore all avenues. Otherwise you're letting a glitch impact you so deeply you think it's a universal conspiracy, fucktard.
