I know we hate trannies and their programming language, another anon pointed out the licensing issue too.... from my understanding they use MIT/Apache thats why they are so eager to rewrite all GPL software to erase it.
im not a lawyer tho do i understand this correctly or am i hallucinating stuff

i think like that

Yes, you are gemini4 e4b.
You started thinking that you were a 4chan poster again.
>>
>>109335667
yes. the rust EULA is horrible, as it forbids any usage of the language outside of replacing manly GPL code with other sissy corpo-friendly licenses.

OPs post meets the *industry standard* template of 4chan posting.

The rust license doesn't matter as much as the software license.
Canonical could have licensed their uutils under the gpl but they didn't.

The claim that it's for memory safety is literally a meme, the gnu core utils ARE memory safe because they're coded well and have been tested time and time again. Any potential leaks would have been discovered and patched a decade ago.

The real reason behind canonical's rewrite of coreutils is the license yes, hell even microsoft has forked their rust rewrite to make their own ms coreutils.

Look at the Cosmic desktop by system 76, it's written in rust but licensed under the gpl.
The problem here (at least when it comes to licensing) isn't the language, it's canonical and co.

i was looking for a reason to really hate Rust, now i got it

The international jew fear the GPL.

Stallman is a jew too

I think he's more like the adopted third cousin of the Jew. He's the outcast. The Jew that no jew wants to see during their hanukkah dinner. He gets a goyim pass.

> I know we hate trannies and their programming language
But there’s nothing such as "trans coding language" because all coders are trans, it doesn’t matter if they use rust or C. Both are trans coders (codetrans)

Former Canonical high-ranking employee here.
I was in the room when "they" (who shall not be named) started fighting over the failure to take out RMS with Covid (which they leaked) and the VAX (which they made). This was after they failed to take him out with literal cancer.
But then someone started talking about a plant Canonical had at Mozilla and some vague long-term "plan" which I didn't give too much attention at the time. It was only years later I came to realize how long the game "they" played really was.

well because the Cosmic DE is not a rewrite

>/g/ conspiracy theory that Rust is being used to change licenses DEBUNKED
The Rustlings just want everything written in Rust. It's not about licenses.
>>
How does rewriting the code allow you to change the license?
>>
>>109335667
The problem with Rust is not using a lax permissive license. It's the trademark policy that creates barriers to exerting freedom 3 - the freedom to distribute modified copies as you wish. You should never be required to get approval from the developers to distrubte modified versions.
Sane distros aught to rename and fork or remove Rust in protest over this trademark policy.
>>
>>109337627
By simply adding code, you don't even need to change the license. By default, your changes are released as "All Rights Reserved", because that is how copyright law works.
