Lots of free stuff. The best free stuff is just using the free tier of ChatGPT and Claude, you'll get very little but what you get is very good. Nvidia gives very generous free access to a lot of models: https://build.nvidia.com/models They give API keys so you can plug them into the usual shit like Pi and OpenCode. Just never expect to find anything frontier-level there. The ultimate "free" solution is hosting your own, most gaming computers can handle small models, if you have enough VRAM you might even be able to host something good enough to be useful.

As opposed to OG snailcat anon, snail-fetish anon, and whoever it is that consistently reposts my most egregious snailcats in other threads. I play lots of videogames and I like scotch. I've played every Harvest Moon game including the ones that were terrible. I don't live alone, and I do work "mostly" from home. I like it a lot, especially because it doesn't question much. I asked it to crack a Steam game for me, so it wouldn't require a running Steam client, since it was annoying. It thought a bit, said "well, since you own the game anyways" and just did it.
It's not as smart as the most cutting-edge US models, but it's more than enough for almost anything.

Whats the "default" AI coding/agent practice?
There seem to be a lot of different programs, but assuming I got a $20 claude sub to test the waters what is the best/easiest way to set up an environrment where I can tell an AI to do something and watch it make an attempt?
I just want to see if it can implement some ideas I have for a stats system for NPCs in a game I want to make in Godot, but I'm open to other more AI friendly engines or languages.
>>
>>109351871
Try a simple task in the free Claude Code or Codex plans.
>>
>>109351871
Get Claude CLI if you have no issues using a terminal, if you prefer IDEs, get the VS Code extension.
From there one of the best thing is just to ask AI to manage your system. Like if you want to install some AI plugin, ask AI, if you don't know how to install git, ask AI or have it do it for you. You only really need to ask people for high level general approaches.

Price really doesn't even matter when the service is constantly unavailable and heavily throttled. K3 is quite good but Kimi as a provider is the biggest thing holding it back, in a week when it becomes available from domestic providers it'll be much, much more attractive.

Analyzing this made me come to the following conclusions:

If you have the $20 plan:
> Sol high/medium to create plans and code review
> Luna xHigh/Max to execute
> Luna high for goals

$100 plan:
> Sol high/xHigh to create plans and code review
> Luna Max and Sol medium to execute
> Sol low or Luna xHigh for goals

$200 plan
> Sol Max/Ultra to create plans and code review
> Sol high/xHigh to execute
> Sol medium for goals

The US congress will stick these types of laws into the omnibus bills like they always do. The trend is all the safe words and contextualizing. Each state will have their own bullshit laws. It will dominate a large portion of the mid-term propaganda cycle. Next year it will still be relevant.

Isn't this the same threat that keeps saying local models are utter shit and that cloud frontier models are the only one's worth using? If you have beefy expensive hardware you can run pretty good models but you'll never run anything comparable to the best of the best on local unless you have tens upon tens of thousands of dollars worth of hardware, only to get inferior t/s compared to the apron's provider t/s. If someone snaps their fingers and all cloud AI models get nuked then I personally won't be fucked because I can use double digit perimeter models locally. But most people don't have hard work even half as good as that.

You simply can't do the house scaling laws work. Local models aren't retarded but they don't have the same capabilities at the trolling perimeter models for a variety of reasons. Basically, Anthropic overtly rejected requests when it detected topics related to cybersecurity, biology and chemistry. But when they detected requests that might serve the purpose of
>accelerating other AI developers in building powerful AI systems that pose similar risks to the ones ours pose - without necessarily having commensurate safeguards
instead of overtly rejecting the response, they silently redirected users to a model trained wrong on purpose to waste researchers time (while still taking their money).

Shills might say only competing frontier labs were targeted, but we have all seen that you can't ask Fable if the heart is a vital organ without it getting refused as too risky to answer. In all likelyhood filters were just as broad with requests pertaining to LLM training, only we'll never know since for this particular topic, they chose to misdirect users under a friendly facade rather than refuse requests. It's fucked up.

but other than faith how do you know the chinese cars are safe?
>>
>>109356630
I could ask the same thing about any American car. If it were truly unsafe the FCC would not allow it to be sold anyway. But that's not at all why they're blocked from being sold here.
>>
>>109356633
>But that's not at all why they're blocked from being sold here.

What are the agents/models that are known for having zero Chain-of-Though, like just sending commands after commands until the task is done with high effort/persistence without monologue-ing forever? In my experience they yield the best results
>>
>>109356630
>>109356633
>>109356636
Car sales in america are blocked primarily by crash test safety ratings. every continent has different standards, which is why you don't see kei trucks in America. They'd get obliterated by F-150s in a crash.

In America, crash test safety ratings are done by NHTSA and probably some other organizations.
>>
>>109356643
You can just disable thinking in some models, but it makes them a lot more retarded

https://www.kei-trucks.com/?srsltid=AfmBOorc3lyvJe0KQZ2OJArmqw7S0Qv9uZ7u5LZJFIKiP7etfA6oW1Km

I say again, if they were so unsafe you would not be allowed to drive the bitches here or even import them.
>>
>>109356660
they drive that car because it's over 20 years old and exempt from emissions laws you dumb gas snorting nigger
>>
>>109356662
So people can just import the older versions (no one really does that because they're kind of shit vehicles unless you're really really tight on gas money or just like tiny vehicles). The point being is that the Chinese cars get targeted with the 100% tariff because literally everyone would just buy that one if they we're on the market at the price they're supposed to be. The tariffs exist to protect American companies you vantablack negro
>>
>>109356653
I mean some of them do that by default and work pretty well, instead of talking to themselves they just do trial and error without limit, like you could ask one model to give you a summary of a codebase and they'll just send 2 grep then proceed to write a novel about it being confidently wrong about everything and talking to you like you're retarded, and another will just spend all its time methodically going through every file, cross-referencing everything, write scripts on the fly to extract only the right information, etc.
>>
>>109356672
that's obviously true. the emissions and crash safety laws are just an excuse.
I'm not that anon, I understand what empire building is
selling out an entire manufacturing industry to china for short term gains to make things muh cheaper is perhaps the most retarded thing I've heard all month
tariffs exist for a reason
you can disagree with the reason but you're going to be wrong.

>being a sellout
Yes, you are being a sellout. That's literally what it is.
You're operating under Reagan era logic designed by executive pencil pushers who wanted to drive profit margins by taking advantage of slave labor in third world countries, regardless of the consequences.
They espoused logic that sounded good, that "every country should focus on what they're good at (some are good at slave labor)", and that America would move to a service economy. This failed at the second degree of critical thinking--which is what do you do with the >50% of people who don't make it into the service economy? The guys who don't have fathers and drop out of high school, and the guys who go to college and get a degree with no job waiting for them?

The answer appears to be they will string you up from the trees because they have no job.

korea and japan built factories here. that's the whole point. jobs
