It means nothing to begin with, as it is not a peer reviewed publication and it was not published in any journal.

So far its value and trustability is the same as a random blogspot post.
P.S. When I did my masters the results got published as a separate publication (Just in case: a thesis is just a report that you did some project, even failures can make one and you can still graduate with it), in a peer-reviewed journal with me being cited as a first author and this paper is still up on ncbi.
As far as peqdb stuff is not published in a reputable journal like AES it simply doesnt exist as a piece of scientific material.

you are right, distortion doesn't matter, almost all pos have a THD too low to matter, thus FR is the undethroned king of sound quality.

for me its other way around, IEMs, even without vent holes are so much more comfortable. But well tuned headphone that work with my ear shape so there is no peaks and dips (still there just smaller) is so much more enjoyable to listen. Never had sense of space with IEMs as good as with openbacks.
>>
>>109355908

>>109355355
Headpos has THD high enough to matter. Ft1 pro literally had to be revised because of clipping(it still does lol). Happens in expensive headphones too. Even before clipping it can get so bad that voices get warbled, like on beyers.
>>
>>109356328
if u need closed back go for it then. For me at that pricepoint i would go for openbacks (maybe sundara or edition xs or something from sennheisrer) or go with IEMs. But i dont really like how FT1 looks

These always seem to hang just far enough from my ear to sound like shit. Tinny and no bass. If I hold them slightly more against my ear like how a headphone band would, they sound great. But the ear clips don't seem capable of doing that, at least on my ears.
>>
>>109356500
For me, Shure/Westone shaped IEMs with foam tips are the comfiest for wearing a long time. Preferably ones with 3 mm nozzles since that allows for more foam between the hard nozzle and my skin. The small size and light weight make them barely noticeable, just a slight sensation at the end of my ear canal, and the reduced volume level of everything around me. They also lay flat enough to lie down on my side with them in.

dunno i can push my planar headphones to 120db before they audibly distort
though that's just measuring, i rarely listen above 50db.
>>
>>109360393
Most headphones and even most planar headphones can't do this. Not in the frequency range where volume like this matters in the first place.
>>
lil bro is so deaf xhe hears distortion even when xhe doesnt own any headpos
>>
>>109360432
planars can be pushed that high if you got a dac+amp powerful enough.
though it was the theorical loudness, it was probably closer to 110db because i wasn't maxing out white noise and playing a sound that had dynamic range.

db meter would read in that ballpark as well, though i don't trust it so much because when enclosed a headphone will be louder than when the sound can escape.
>>
>>109360594
Stop saying planars when it's only a couple of planars that can do this. You don't test this with white noise, nobody cares if you can obliterate your ears with 100dB of 1kHz, you test with subbass. Headphones have lower max SPL at subbass, musical spectrum has higher subbass(it's pink noise, not white noise), human hearing is like 40dB less sensitive to subbass and most planars need their subbass boosted with EQ just to sound neutral.
>>
>>109360679
>subbass
dude, they were making a speaker like thud, i don't think there was any issue with the subbas, sure their response is naturaly flat ish, but if they can make a clean thud at > 100db i'm not too worried about being able to EQ good bass when i'm listening at 60db.
>>
>>109360703
>they were making a speaker like thud
Speakers have 100% THD at subbass. That's why speakers setups without subwoofers are a joke.

>>
>>109354721
I've seen people getting publications as first authors resulting from their masters thesis/MD in Nature or Lancet SS++++ world class tier journals but you need to be very lucky for that

But if your masters didnt result in any publications in a scientific journal, then you just did the bare minimum and brought zero novelty with whatever you were doing

Just because you formatted your blog entry in a scientific journal page style does not mean that science was done in any meaningful way
If there really is some sort of a novelty or value then it shouldn't be an issue to publish it in a peer-reviewed journal
Iirc sharur was talking that Sean Olive will review his peqdb paper, but afaik nothing came out of it, because Dr. Olive is a real scientist and just ghosted this bullshit the moment he realized that he didn't even cite his work properly lmao

dt 770 is more comfortable, has its own issues

hd 600/650/6xx are all open backs, mog both and can be found used for less than $150 and aliexpress pads/headband are sub 10 cad

if you dont want used specifically you can check out amazon warehouse deals for open box stuff instead, usually your best bet are just random shit from audio technica because they make a lot of headphones, beyerdynamic, sennheiser or one of the chifi ones if you want to gamble on garbage, just lie and say something isn't matching disc and then get 20% back, i've done that 10 times at least

not a lot of options at $150 but buying used you can sometimes luck out a lot harder than you think, i got some hd 600's for $100 cad and every part is replaceable so worst case pads+headband pad + headband assembly would of only been like $90 or something.

dt 770 is very V shaped, as soon as you hear them you will just notice a lot of bass and treble but mid range is recessed quite a lot because of it

wood headphones had so many issues that it made no sense to ever bother with them
lcd 2's would snap because the wood vibrated the screws
emu-teaks/foster part wood models would randomly pop off the cup if they were in too dry of an environment, other issues if they were humid
there was also a time trash from kickstarter looked like ur pic but with wood and were bought purely because of it, its just strange

i think the market for all of it is just people who have no actual reason to buy something but want too anyways and just end up buying shit for aesthetics

The only problem with headphone show is they're mostly reviewing shit nobody cares about. Channels that are "I listened to it and it sounds good" or "here's 1 graph" are extremely outdated.
>>

They should do what Zeos does, review the same dog shit beyerdynamic, except go from 250>600 ohm and say because of that alone it sounds like the voice of god, then go and sell the headphone 3 mins after the review comes out
Some how you could do that with every single headphone and still people would watch, gotta be something to it

>>109374898
desu i really liked fat goldensound channel era, with dac, amps reviews with music examples and so on,most of that stuff was unobtanium anyway so it was window into more expensive stuff.

Problem with headphone show is simple - they went with scientific approach so apart from FR measurments there isnt much more content. So If we base everything on this, it turns out that many cheap things are currently very good or great, the rest we can improve using EQ and expensive sources, dacs, amps, headpos and iems are just snake oil
I think they as retailer have access to really cool and expensive gear, but as yt channel they just cant show it because they positioned themselves as those with a scientific approach and rejected snake oil stuff (and most of that shit is just snake oil)
I like bloom audio approach, they are just to shill some stuff as a retailer so they are shilling expensvie multi kilobuck DAPs, portable AMPs, sumit fi IEMs and so on. There is few channels like that.

Fuck measurement, embrace snake oil because after while everything will be bland and boring

I mean you are not exactly wrong but they still give you their subjective perspective and then show measurements that corresponds to it. Which is kinda double approach (only resolved doesn't even try to talk about shit like soundstage etc anymore lol)

So I've tried Misty Blue as possible vocal centric replacement to CKLVX. I don't get the hype. What do people mean when they say dark bright? I never get that. For me, it's either dark or bright.

Dark bright means overall dark with big treble peaks. Used to be more common in the past.

Bloom dudes wanna suck off Amir really badly, other than that theyre good though. Good store too.
THS's issue is theyre all on record, besides Resolve, being super subjectivist. And get really defensive when you dig up receipts. They're super easy to ragebait, they sperged on HeadFi for a week when people got mad at peecog
>>
i like bloom because they are nice and also send chocolate and candies with my orders

You can buy the HiBy R1 for like $60 on sale right on AliExpress, but I haven't received mine yet so idk how good it is.
I would say the HiBy R1 would be good for starters if you're just getting into MP3s.

Blue is how it is stock, that 2.6khz is as unpleasant in real life as it looks in the graph. My ears don't like a lot of low treble in the first place so I don't feel a need to around 4-5khz, but I added a small high shelf to improve clarity.

Audio drama is the only interesting part of the hobby. IEMs up to $500 are solved and everything past that is a total scam. Nobody on here buys good headphones and the cheap shit they do buy is mogged by alibuds.
>>
the ideal sound is flat clear and unintrusive. purely informational, well separated and legible. think 12 pt times new roman. everything else is nebulous and worse
>>
>>109390190
>think 12 pt times new roman
14 pt comic sans is objectively superior and is 100% backed by science.

faceplate lost paint/anodization near edges? also 3d printing looks mid at best in unit i had for while. For that price if no full metal build - im not buying it, simple as that
>>
>>109390724
yes the edges are almost sharp and flare a bit so it's super easy to scratch
>>
>>109390724
retarded ass impressions when sound is the only thing that should matter at that price
>>
>>109390739
at that price aluminium CNC shell (maybe full resin build if u like) and durable type 3 ano on top of it should be bare minimum. And if we talking about how capable 5axis mills are we should be seeing even titanium shell at that price.
