I want to treat myself with a fagship phone after three and a half years of a shitty midrange I never liked to begin with. Must have are a good telephoto camera and good (and loud) speakers. Budget is about €1200, I can stretch upwards if it's worth it. Don't care about other features really, I'll install F-Droid and use as many FOSS apps I can get away with, to limit how much I get spied on, using the play store only for banking apps and the like.

bwos, can someone with a pixel phone check something for me? I recently got a pixel 10 from a really good deal. Everything has been nice so far, but for some reason, my screen has the contrast or brightness flickering differently every few seconds when using it. I figured out it was the refresh rate going up and down, so I enabled dev tools and locked it to always stay at 120. This made the screen work perfectly and stop the constant flickering-like contrast or brightness switching. However, I know this makes the battery drain faster. Does your bwo's pixel phones do this too? or did I just get one with a bad screen? Thank you so much for your time bwos. I don't really want to go through the whole exchanging the phone process and maybe it's just something the pixel 10's screen does with the adaptive refresh rate

>>
>>109358558
This might be because the 10's panel isn't LTPO, or maybe the PWM frequency is dropping along with the refresh rate, or you might have your brightness a little too low. You could just be sensitive to PWM dimming but it still doesn't seem like normal behavior so I'd personally just send that shit back while you still can if I were you, desu. Only their Pros have 480hz dimming while the base 10 gets 240hz, but neither hold a candle to chink OEMs with 1000hz-2000hz+ PWM dimming.

Thanks for the response bwo. I found some stuff online of people noticing the same thing and using the same "fix" i did. I do use my phone with the brightness almost all the way down, so that could be adding to it as you said? I really don't want to send it back since it was only 150 dollars and it's an amazing upgrade from my old phone still. And i've already got it all set up with all my stuff. Also, I really only noticed it when using my apps that were in "dark mode" or something similar. When I was testing games at first and installing apps and stuff, i didn't notice it until later in the day while just reading online. Thank again bwo, I learned some new stuff from researching things you said

So Pixel 10s having screen flickering issues is rampant across the standard and pro models after a recent update. Some think its a faulty sensor.

>I do use my phone with the brightness almost all the way down, so that could be adding to it as you said?
Yes, I do remember one of my phones (could've been my 6 Pro or S23U, not 100% sure) would get this barely noticeable flickering effect if the brightness was all the way down but it wasn't annoying or anything. Increasing the brightness slightly above the lowest value "fixed" it in my experience but now you can't use it with the brightness all the way down. The way you describe it makes it seem like it's very noticeable so it could be 1 of the 3 things I mentioned, or it's just a defect. $150 is a steal for a Pixel 10 but are you sure you can deal with the flickering shit considering you use it with the brightness very low? Maybe see if you can swap it for a new one.

Wait bwo... I tried playing with the brightness and stuff to see if it affected it, and then turned off the forced 120 refresh rate in dev mode and just went back to normal smooth display with the adaptive stuff on... It's much better now compared to yesterday when i first got it somehow. It seemed a bit buggy before with it flicking to a different contrast or brightness often and I swear it did it a bit when i took my finger off the phone too... But now it's just a slight change in contrast on this dark mode page whenever i stop scrolling. It is changing in the same way, just in a consistent way now. Now I'm just confused. Because now i really don't mind it. I did update the phone earlier today and it was like a year behind I think, so maybe that fixed it...And yeah, it's basically not noticeable at all if I turn the brightness up to what I assume most people use their phone at. Thanks for talking this through with me bwo

and now it seems like with the adaptive tone along with it, might make it more apparent depending on what the current color tone is. because now with it off, or even with a more neutral color tone, I can't even see it happening anymore. o-or maybe my brain is now ignoring it somehow...bwo...

The real benefit of the iPhone that everyone forgets about is that apps on iPhone are just regular Mach-O executables, just like on macOS. On Android, the executable part of the apps is just some fucking classes.dex file, which is a bytecode filed executed by Android Runtime. This is a meme, on iOS your Mach-O executable is just a regular native binary, it doesn't need any JIT shit

oh wow, a very old article about a very old damaged iPhone that is no longer made exploding. Wow, it’s so similar to all the brand-new Samsungs exploding. It’s like the same thing anon you are so smart!
>>109358875
Many videos available of people showing the device getting the green line from a official Samsung software update. The oneui 8.5 update is causing it even to the new s26 ultra. FACTS DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR OPINIONS.
>>

that article is about an iPhone XS Max. Once again, a very old device and not like the green lines happening to brand-new Samsung’s still being sold. Definitely not the same thing. Try harder.

Probably batteries being crammed in again, I'm pretty sure the Note 7 was going up all the time because the battery was too big for the phone and got too hot inside the case or something.

Wanna know what's really ironic? It's the 10th anniversary of the Note 7 this year.

You made that whole story up. Check pic related for what really happened. The original batteries that were exploding for the note 7 were always made by Samsung predominantly, and then they switched to another brand, ATL, thinking it would fix the issue, but those also started to explode too, and then they realized it was a manufacturer’s defect with the actual note 7 and not the batteries.

Your videos older than mine low IQ troll. Here's the latest iOS 27 with the latest Siri ai VS the latest Gemini ai. I'll provide a link too unlike you. You can use the link to watch the video to see the before and after results and it's not even close the new Siri AI beats the Gemini AI in photo and video editing. Google messed up the parking lot lines for the parking spaces, it also messed up the guy's eyes when removing glasses, it also messed up removing his hand holding the laptop and finally it was not able to remove the entire shelf against the wall. There's a reason you always purposely never upload the latest flagships and you have to nitpick Old articles and old smartphone comparisons. Too easy. :)

One can use location and time to reconstruct how the Moon appears to the observer without even bothering to use a camera and still get a high fidelity picture with stupid high resolution due to the fact it's been thoroughly mapped from orbit. Such a software might even already exist, but I'm not into astrophotography so I can't say for sure. One might sell you a phone with no camera that can still produce excellent pictures of the moon, so bragging about that capability isn't really related to the quality of the camera system.
