I was kinda wooed when the free google chatbot fixed a powershell script I would've been fucking with for an hour, admitedly a little unimportant thing but it made me wonder.Seriously how do codemonkeys cope with this baffling reality? That such a traditionally creative task as programming got successfully automated, before "boring", "suits", "bullshit jobs", "hr roasties" even?Every industry now tries it hardest to replace codemonkeys with a basically untested and untrusted chatbot because nobody wants to work with codemonkeys, and I find that very hilarious.

>>109353869>Seriously how do codemonkeys cope with this baffling reality?To be a codemonkey you learn a new framework / version with significant changes / bunch of design patterns / a whole new codebase every year or so, unless you work on boomer tech like a bank (there are exceptions like working on drivers or hardware in general but it’s generally low pay and nobody wants to do it, barring a few exceptions like nvidia)In light of that, having to completely change how you work isn’t that weird desu. It’s not like grandma will be doing ai sloppa assisted programming anyway
The creativity of programming isn't 100% there. We get stuck in useless meetings all the time, going back and forward with clients and other parties setting specification, goals and timelines (and shifting them). And codemonkeying is a very specific job that involves creating and fixing mostly boilerplate code. I did that kind of job creating frontend and backend for small and medium services. Eventually you kind of miss it due to the possibility of just zone out. Anyway, I wish AI just came for programmers, but I'm afraid is coming for everyone else too.
