Linux users, is it worth switching from Windows to a distro? I don't have the time or patience to tinker with everything, and I prefer something that works right out of the box; unfortunately, I'm just an average Joe with an IQ of 83. Is it worth switching, or should I just stick with Windows? (I have an Nvidia GPU)

If you play Valorant or other Zoomerslop shooters, don't switch. If you have a myriad of bluetooth peripherals that you want to have just work, don't switch. If you need to use Adobe or Autodesk products, don't switch. If you do audio / video work and are used to your Windows workflow, don't switch. Otherwise, I think it would improve your experience, since you say you don't like to tinker and likely are currently dealing with the default Windows experience, which is shit. As others have said, you can just try it out and see if you like it.

My only disappointment is that wallpaper engine doesn't work natively, but I got something equivalent going on that works almost as well. Apart from having to install my VPN with the konsole and setting up auto mount on my internal drives, it more or less just works fine out of the box. I don't recommend steamOS right now because you cannot choose which storage drive you want to install it on, which is something you really need in case you break the desktop OS trying to make something work and you need to do a clean reinstall (ask me how I know).

In the beginning I kept my old pc with windows, sort of a s a backup when I fucked up.. then switched completely, then installed a windows again about 8y ago to do a course on unreal on a separate pc. This day I keep an old laptop with windows that I only use to install my arturia software on.
