>Look for fucking basic surge protector in 2026>They fucking ALL have blue or green LED lights on them>Maybe the non aliexpress brands?>NOPE. All LEDs!What the fuck is wrong with manufacturers now? I want an outlet for my bedroom. I don't want to have to pop open the shell of every fucking device I have and physically remove the LED just so it's not beaming my room at night when I'm trying to fucking sleep. Every device just needs to have an always fucking on blue LED now, and sometimes it's something extremely small and innocuous under daylight but becomes a prominent light source in the pitch darkness of a room. How do we stop this? Also everything needs a fucking LED panel now when simple physical buttons more than sufficed. My toaster doesn't need a fucking touch screen, it's a FUCKING TOASTER. I WANNA PUT BREAD IN IT, TURN THE FUCKING KNOB TO AN AMBIGUOUS ASS "7" ON THE DIAL, PRESS DOWN AND FUCKIN HOPE FOR THE BEST. I DON'T WANNA PULL THE LEVER DOWN AND THEN SLIDE MY BUTTERY FINGER AGAINST A FUCKING SCREEN TO "BROWN 3" AND THEN REALIZE AFTER 5 MINUTES IT DIDN'T EVEN START MY TOAST YET CAUSE I DIDN'T ALSO HIT "START" AFTER "BROWN 3" AND THERE'S NO PHYSICAL FEEDBACK TO REALLY LEAN ON.And no, my toaster doesn't need to blare the FUCKING time in LED lights at night in my fucking kitchen either.
The surge protector has an LED to visually display that the surge protection is active.
>>109356277I don't fucking need that. My old brick surge protector had a simple "on" and "off" switch for surge protection.
>>109356253>>109356285
>>109356285>My old brick surge protector had a simple "on" and "off" switch for surge protection. And then the surge protection died and so did your equipment.
>>109356253>physically remove the LEDTape?
>>109356369No, these cases are cheap as fuck and if you tape the LED all that happens is the housing leaks the light right through at night. Or the ports expose the lights.
>>109356253>he doesn't know how to use a screwdriver to take $4 power strips apart and clip the led off the board.genZ is truly a lost cause at this point

>>109356253Electric tape.
>>109356689No, if you put electric tape on the fucking blue LED just beams through the ports and the cheap plastic housing.
>>109356253>caring about something as small as thisYou don't have a single thing going on in your life or anyone who could loosely be called a friend do you?
older (pre-led) stuff used to use things like dim neon bulb for indicators that stayed on all the time.then leds came along and were more efficient and longer-lasting, so we moved to those. for a couple decades leds were only available in red, amber, and green colours.blue was a tough one to make due to the higher energy nature of blue light. some very dim not-commercially-viable ones were made pretty early on, but it wasn't until 1993 when it was finally cracked, and it was a huge deal, which is why it quickly became the "cool" choice for any modern '90s electronics to use the fancy new blue leds."white" leds soon followed, which were just blue leds with a phosphor to convert some of the light into red and green which are still used in white leds today, but blue never lost it's "cool" status so tons of things to this day keep using blue everywhere i guess because they just never had a reason to change it afterwards.i do agree that devices like in op's should at least use a higher value resistor to make them dimmer, we don't need power indicators which blast a bright blue spotlight across a room at night.just use a bit of electrical tape or blu-tack over the light if you can't be bothered modifying the circuit.
>>109356253>I DON'T WANNA PULL THE LEVER DOWN AND THEN SLIDE MY BUTTERY FINGER AGAINST A FUCKING SCREEN TO "BROWN 3" AND THEN REALIZE AFTER 5 MINUTES IT DIDN'T EVEN START MY TOAST YET CAUSE I DIDN'T ALSO HIT "START" AFTER "BROWN 3" AND THERE'S NO PHYSICAL FEEDBACK TO REALLY LEAN ON.I have an air fryer just like this (wife received as a gift) and it fucking drives me crazy too. You can't make a good contact with the touch panel if you have too much oil or water from food prep on your fingertip, so I find myself washing and drying my hands just to fucking turn my fundamentally primitive cooking device on. By contrast I have a toaster oven that is nearly 20 years old now and has been abused to hell and back and it just fucking works without complaining when I turn the knob that makes it big hot. At least my air fryer doesn't try to connect to the internet and sell data about my least healthy food choices, that's about the only nice thing i have to say about it. Square foot of extremely scarce counter real estate hogging ass.
>>109356705Me and my wife don't like our dark bedroom filled with a billion tiny lights when we're trying to sleep.
Put a sock on it
>Bro, just put electric tape over the LED!
>>109356905It's small and seems insignificant, but in a pitch black room you'll see it. It'll trace a light onto the ceiling or wall. It's annoying as fuck.
i usually can sleep through many lights but it does get annoying sometimes. best you can do is get those eye masks for sleep :/

>>109356253>big led hate him>get rid of annoying lights with this simple trick
>>109356253https://www.lightdims.com/index.php
>>109356253I tried the black/duck tape approach and eventually (around a year) it dries and peel itself leaving some sticky shit, I changed to hvac metal tape and oh god, 8 years and still hasnt dry or peeled ant it absorbs all the stupid light, I even use for camera in smartphones and stays solid after heavy use. The trade, it kinda look ugly but, meh.

I was just thinking about blue LEDs a half hour ago and how terrible they look. They’re so obnoxiously bright. Sorry for your trouble OP
>>109356253blindfold yourself and learn the ways of the blind
>>109362879>>109356712Blue should be used to signal power is on according to some standard (don't remember the number). Red, green, etc. are for other purposes. That is the reason most power leds are blue.
>>109360249we've come a long way since then.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0foNbHueDQ
>>109363254According to {arbitrary standard} created by a retard
>>109356416Put more tape.
My favorite is when they make the bright ass blue LED blink to indicate standbyI had an old monitor that did that AND it also made a high-pitched whining sound every time the LED blinked, loud enough to be distracting from anywhere in the same room
>>109363833>{arbitrary standard}No, an actual EN/ISO/DIN (whatever, don't remember) standard. In some places you need to follow these to sell your product.I don't like it either, but that's probably the reason for it being blue everywhere.
>>109356253put a piece of tape over it you retarded contrarian zoomer faggot
>>109356253What about getting a UPS? Some of the outlets at least on mine are surge only
>>109356253well if it had no LEDs, how could you know your devices are being surge protected? Huh?Think about that
>>109356253About your toaster:Does it actually measure the brownness of the bread or does it just use a timer like nearly every toaster does?
>>109368384A UPS has a battery that wears out and has to be replaced every 4 years or so even when you don't have power outages.I use a small one for my NAS but nothing else.
>>109364796I had a monitor with a proximity sensor. It had LED's under the buttons but they only came on when your hand was near.It was perfect but of course newer models don't have that anymore.
>>109356253Based. Fuck LED lights.
>>109356253Get some white out or paint and cover the LED. I also highly hate LEDs used on everything that just glare into the void. My current desktop has an extremely bright power LED. I covered the LED with layers of scotch tape with sharpie to dim the brightness of the LED. Now it's much better.
>>109371584i put a folded piece of paper behind where the led shines on my pc case which turns it into a more pleasant diffuse glow. i don't mind it being there otherwise i'd just disconnect it from the motherboard, i just don't want it to be a beam that puts a spotlight on the other side of the room
>>109356253>I don't want to have to pop open the shell of every fucking device I have and physically remove the LED just so it's not beaming my room at night when I'm trying to fucking sleep.Buy a bottle of black nail polish. It will fix all your LED problems in seconds. It only takes a dab so it'll last you forever too.
