Yeah, the only thing it's missing at this point is a panel with HDR support (OLED perhaps?) but good OLED monitors have become cheap enough over the past few years anyway. We are even getting ARM and RISC-V development going on now. I'm not sure what else they could even consider doing here, other than a ThinkPad-esque keyboard with nipple.

Other than your /pol/tarded brain incorrectly hating [product] because [founder] has [ethnicity], what is stopping you from buying a 13 Pro other than being poor and racist? I will admit that as a recovering /pol/tard (3 years clean and sober), even I am slightly surprised the man with heritage from the Indian subcontinent was able to make the best laptop since the IBM ThinkPad.
>t. have bought and sold two framework 13s since the company was founded. Now that battery life is improved I will be buying another.

It would be physically impossible to fit those keys into this chassis without a complete redesign or abnormally (or unusably) small keys. You are interested in the Framework 16. We are talking about the Framework 13 here.

Would you also complain that a Mazda Miata doesn't have 3-row seating? Of course you don't, because that's a physical impossibility given the design of the car and so even considering it is retarded.

Ethernet expansion port is available, either as pic related or built in to a TB4/USB4 dock.

Ultrabook-style laptops have never included RJ45 for as long as they've existed.
>>
I already have an M1 Macbook.
I will keep using it as long as I can get a new battery for it.
>>
>>109359498
Thinkpad T16 has an Ethernet port.
>>
>>109359565
The T16 isn't an ultrabook, nor does Lenovo advertise it as such

If you want to buy Chinovo go ahead, but I just don't see a point when they blatantly took a fat shit all over IBM's perfection and Framework is better
>>
It is very sexy but I already have the normal Laptop 13 so can't justify upgrading. I'm intending to run this mainboard until it breaks apart.
>>
>>109359679
They sell a kit where you can upgrade and reuse your mainboard and top half, and get better speakers, chassis, haptic touchpad, and larger battery. Selling the old parts would get you back a good percent of the cost.

No shit. That's been the case since literally forever. Buy the Chinovo if you want anon. But again I don't see the point because Framework won and Chinovo can never be forgiven for what they did to the Thinkpad.
>>
>>109359845
>the laptop is 13.5'' instead of 14.5'' that means it is IMPOSSIBLE to fit any ports on!
It's 15.85mm thick, a thinkpad P14s is about 16.2 mm thick (checking the random latest model). 0.4mm doesn't make the difference between fitting an RJ45 or not.
Also
>ultrabook
It's advertised as "the ultimate developer laptop". Nowhere in the page mentions it being an ultrabook. it's framework's choice for making their "ultimate developer laptop" 13.5'' when it's basically the same market segment as 14''.

>Chinovo can never be forgiven for what they did to the Thinkpad.
I don't disagree but Framework is not somehow a real thinkpad either. They're still chink laptops assembled in chinkland, just with some gimmicks like swappable bezels and the weird ass port system that takes up way too much space, and a lot of marketing about their spare parts shop.

What are you talking about? There's no model with only two modules. Even their cheapest 12 has 4 modules. The 13 has 4 modules and the 16 has 6 modules. And they're TB/USB4 capable which means you can just dock it at home.

Yeah, let me just buy a keyboard making factory to make one keyboard retard.

>>109359460
HP and other laptop manufacturers were able to do it. The right side navi keys are so comfy for coding and for browsing the web. Framework is missing a big market for people who want power user keyboards. They could charge the extra markup/tax to make up for the fact that they have to make a new keyboard layout because it's actually something someone would spend the extra money to buy for comfort for their specific use case. I'm not a fan of the thinkpad nipple and their home-nav keyboard group layout, but some people who are used to using them for tech work really dig it.
>>
>>109359460
>without a complete redesign or abnormally (or unusably) small keys
On top of what the other anon said, thinkpad keyboards don't have an extra column but they have nav keys around the arrows (which are already abnormally small) and in the F-row. The top row goes Esc, F1-F12, and then Home End Insert Delete.
It looks like the framework keyboard spaces out their F-keys a ton so the top row has no space for anything else. And then the left/right arrow keys are double the size of up/down for some fucking reason which is the most retarded way to make an arrow cluster ever, and leaves no space for the PgUp/PgDn keys.
>>
>>109359397

Yeah, even the supposedly unique gimmick (switchable ports) is just a variation of dongle.
The only 100% original ideas it has are the magnetic bezel and the pogo pin keyboard. Which you only interact with when the laptop breaks.
>>
Frankly I think the laptops would've been a lot better without the dongle gimmick. You just end up with fewer ports in the same space.
Or at least make the USB ports built-in so you can fit a reasonable amount. Give like 2 USB-C and 2 USB-A and it'll fit 99% of usecases. Then leave two of their swappable dongles so you can choose the display out you want (HDMI or DP), a micro SD slot, or extra USB if you really want. That would've been fine, but making it all dongle-based and making it so you can only have 4 ports total is just terrible.
Oh and make the RJ45 built-in too since it clearly needs proper integration into the chassis, and can't fit into the dongle form factor.

I've read the manuals they provide for repairs, they don't even have a FRU numbering scheme, and crappy photo driven per-part guides.
All the other issues aside, the repair documentation and parts ecosystem is so awful that I have no interest in these.
Then there's no trackpoint on the keyboard, the IO is dreadful (one port per module is insane).
I'll stick with thinkpads myself, even modern ones are shockingly decent. I'm using my T14s gen 6 AMD to shitpost here right now.
