I posted last thread about a possibly dead 9800x3d, and surprisingly it was infact the cpu that was dead. Bought a 7600x off marketplace and the system booted up fine. Now I just need to rma. Very surprising, but I'm glad I don't need to change out the motherboard after all.

I attempted one to no avail, apparently MSI boards are very finicky about it and even with everything set up properly it just idled for over an hour before I turned it off. From what I gathered that's a common situation where if it doesn't like the USB you plug in it'll just refuse to update.
Regardless I don't think it's a BIOS issue because there's a hardware switch to swap to a secondary BIOS and even when trying that the behavior and debug code were identical. If a replacement CPU fixes the issue I plan to flash the BIOS again anyway, just to make sure the faulty one didn't fuck with it, but I admit I AM a bit scared of the mobo being bricked because I have no way to test it and if the new CPU arrives and doesn't work then I'll have a whole new mess of potential issues

The rear fan on the astral is ass. It emits an annoying whine above the mid 40%s that gets more annoying the higher you go. Asus fixed it on the matrix and astral 20th anniversary by changing the fan design but left the astral with the original crappy rear fan.
If you aren't okay with this, I'd recommend getting an MSI 5090 suprim and getting a thermalgrizzly wireview pro 2 to monitor the 12vhpwr like you can on the astral

Is matte oled really worse than glossy oled? The way I space is setup there's a window behind me and I got no room to move my desk. Glossy oled would just be a constant mirror in the day.

not sure about the AM5 dead CPUs situation but my B550 Phantom Gaming ITX has been a much better experience than the X570 Gigabyte equivalent I had before that had all sorts of annoying quirks and died in two years

Caved and bought for a little under €1k last black friday. Closest equivalent machine is now €1.3k but with half the Passmark CPU Mark score and only 16GB of DDR5 RAM instead of 32GB.

Is there a general rule for how much extra wattage to shoot for in a PSU, if any? The build I'm debating on is estimated to draw just a cunt hair under 900W. Would a 1k watt PSU do me fine or should I bump it up some? I realize if I add more components later it'll add to the power draw, but I'm not sure what I'd even need to add. Maybe a few HDDs for Plex.
