Fold 8 is a tempting phone to get. Form factor and size is nice and having that option to unfold for a bigger screen is tempting is pretty neat but $1900 USD is a hell of a price to ask, same goes for the Apple foldable since thats rumoured to be $2500.

What are the chances the form factor becomes cheaper over the years? I can legitimately see it catching on as a mainstream body especially with Samsung and Apple pushing their Passport style foldables onto the Western market this year.

>>
>>109389387
At least for my own personal use don't care for an iPhone. Tend to buy them as gifts for family since its perfect for them but iPad > iPhone when it comes to day to day use. I just stick to my Android for phone and iPadOS for my tablet.
>>
Is buying a refurbished flip foldable from Back Market a meme

Kinda tempted even knowing I'll probably get sick of the gimmick soon
>>
>>109389421
Which Flip specifically? I'd avoid the Flip 5 at this point since most of them have been breaking for most people this year. The Flex cable they used in that one for some reason has been failing.
>>
>>109389429
Flip 7. Was hoping to mainly use the cover screen as a substitute for a compact phone, since there aren't really any compact Androids left.

I'm not a power user (just YouTube, 4chan, and music), but spending that much money for three screens seems wasteful.
>>
>>109389447
Flip 7 is fine for the time being depending on the cost and condition. As someone who uses a Flip it's a nice little phone but you do get over its gimmick pretty fast. It's more of a funny little feature that catches people's attention because while Samsung has sold more foldables over the year its not really that common. Everyone either as a S24-26 or an iPhone. That being said I would say the Wallet app has a lot of work to do to catch up to Apple's Wallet.

If society ever collapses its going to be reliant on even more primitive tech than the one you wish was still around at the consumer level friend. You wont have the luxury of a pocket computer or a computer at that point.

Xperia phones ship with no charger and no USB cable, offer like 3 years of software support, have shitty cameras, buggy software, lock hardware features behind a subscription paywall, cost $1600 and aren't available outside of Asia and Europe

They used to ship with a charger, cable, and one time a pair of $10 headphones. They are expensive though and sometimes require a firmware upgrade (whenever they feel like it) to get on specific US mobile bands, otherwise you're stuck on a lesser network and WILL have poopoo reception. I've had Xperia phones since the Miro (absolute KINO), and last one was the 5 IV. Too many issues, fingerprint support gone with an update, mobile US bands not supported, camera SHOULD be great but its shit. Video recording is great though. Went with a meme phone (nothing 3) and regret it, but it was 800 dollars less than the latest Xperia.

It’s been 8 years and they’re still expensive. not even Motorola’s is cheap. it’s not getting cheaper ever.

>>
>>109390286
The small one? Most early reviews seem to say the form factor is great for ebooks and mangas so I will assume yes.
>>
>>109390192
Other flagships aren't cheaper though. What's worse is that they don't even compete on features or design, with the rare exception of foldables, which are even more expensive.

Just trying to buy some phones for my girlfriend and our kid, both of their phones are on their deathbed. Money is tight right now so trying to get something that will last them awhile for under $200. I've got my choices narrowed down to the below but if other anons have other recs I'd appreciate it.

>Moto G Power 5G 2024: ~$130 (New)
>Google Pixel 6a: ~$150 (Refurbished)
>Samsung Galaxy A15 5G: ~$180 (New)
>Xiaomi Poco M6 Pro 5G: ~$150 (New)
>Apple iPhone 13: ~$230-260 (Refurbished)
>>
>>109394406
Naturally, I guess your kid wants an iPhone because that’s the most popular among them but you should ask just to make sure if that’s something you’re looking to do unless it’s a surprise and for your girlfriend honestly you gotta figure out what would fit her the best I mean, you spend the most time with her too, so it shouldn’t be that difficult, but you did narrow it down to a bunch of good choices in my honest opinion

try ebay or local sales like with offerup and craigslist since you run into people who want quick cash rather than people who are used to the second hand market and know how to maximize profits
on offerup alone i found multiple s25 ultras for $500 or less which the trade in alone gives you $720 on samsungs site so finding cheaper phones will be easy at that price mark as long as you make sure the phones not stolen or blacklisted

Could always trade it in and just pay a bit more in the long run. That said I personally find the Trifold to be a bit much. Do you really want to have that much potential screen space? Realistically even the Fold 8/Fold 8 Ultra is just a true luxury purchase given stuff like the iPhone 17 Pro Max and the S26 are standard phones for most.

Budget being no matter, would you recommend the Z Fold8 Ultra or should I just wait for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold?
>>
>>109400339
I'd go for either the regular Fold 8 or wait for the iPhone Foldable. Really just pick what you prefer OS wise. Form factor is better unless you really want a 200MP camera.
>>
>>109400349
The main draw to Pixel for me was GrapheneOS usage but I'm not dead set on it.
Why the regular Fold 8 over the Ultra?
>>
>>109400362
Best of both worlds size wise. You have a small little phone for quick ease of access but not so small that the cover screen isnt limited to pre-approved apps but you can unfold to a bigger screen if you need the space. Same applies to the iPhone one coming out. It also lends itself well to single hand use, videos and eBooks. The Fold 8 Ultra, which I'll admit I ordered myself, isnt really single hand friendly and has massive black bars with videos regardless of the fold/unfolded state.

Personally I've only used a iphone 13 pro max when I sent my android for repairs.
And honestly It wasn't very good.
First of all there's no universal back gesture/button like with android, you'll have to guess It with each app you're using, when trying to exit the keyboard, when trying to exit the image zoom on twitter, when trying to go back on the web browser, when trying to exit a WhatsApp chat, etc. It's probably the BIGGEST and most frustrating headache I had while using that phone.
Also there's a lot of other things
> Brave browser doesn't work as well as on android
>Phone was heavier than my android while being smaller
>Its"fast-charging" is straight up garbage
>Lighting port was turbo garbage compared to USB-C
>Battery lasted barely half a day which combined with the slow charging speed and having to use lightning made the whole experience way worse.
Your experience may be better on newer models dunno, but mine was SHIT

you can get a usb dongle for $5 instead of getting an inferior phone just because it has a headphone jack
>>
>>109401016
>fuck up your only port by getting the headphone cable snagged on something one too many times
i'll keep using the headphone jack thanks

>Red Magic 11 Pro is number 1 for antutu
>Red Magic devices with built in cooling don't thermal throttle crash like phones with the same SOC minus the cooling often do
Huh? >>109389840
>>
>>109400539
>Also why are they so expensive?
Apple raises the price on everything (macbook, ipad) but the iphone due to ram shortage. You can draw a simple conclusion from this.

there are iphone shills here that sperg out whenever someone doesn't automatically eat the shit apple feeds people

besides the screen size the pro max has better camera and battery
there is no reason to get an iphone except for social status. This has been the case for many years

less than 3 year old Samsungs are having defects with the battery and screen. hopefully they can fix these issues.

use case for fold able screens?
>>
>THE CREASE THE CREASE THE CREASE
I have no idea why anyone who so much as touches a foldable cares. When the screen is on you can't see it unless you're purposely angling the phone to look for it.

I just want the pixel 11 fold pro bros :'(

I bet the guy who constantly complains about Samsung in these threads (supposed creases in Samsung foldable displays, and supposed failures of Samsung phones) is the same guy who constantly shills Chinese phones (RedMagic and so on)

Probably a Chinese Communist Party employee getting paid to insult non-Chinese phones and promote Chinese phones
