What went wrong with UI?
Metrosexual millennials entered the industry. Also smartphones.
>>109389987 (OP)The first two are worlds away computing wise, they are designed for apps that run locally and connect online sparingly. In the modern era its about accessing time wasting shortcuts to things that run on someone else's computer and that serve you content you didn't even consent to seeing, its just there.Almost every one of the Windows 11 shortcuts is an AD to use an application that makes money from you.TLDR: capitalism
>>109390519I fucking hated windows 8's metro, but the biggest compliment I can give is that it still carried some of the spirit of 7 & vista and had color.windows 10 & 11 are so fucking sterile and boring it actually hurts. literally. staring at mono color interfaces all day fucking hurts my eyes.
>>109390519You chuds will never make me hate Windows 8 or more specifically 8.1, it was so futuristic, pretty dogshit but it was doing something new, it was colourful and has a semblance of sovl
>>109389987currynigger trannies street shitting up all of tech from their currybooks and curryPhones
>>109390519i'm surprised windows 8 was made in 2012. you would expect aero to hang around until around 2015
>>109389987They started to slow down the system to get you used for eventual obligatory thin-terminal-to-mainframe situationIt's working
>>109390795It did the way I remember it. Windows 8 was so unpopular even businesses and schools refused to update. Windows 7 was supported up until 2020 and you'd find people running 7 as late as 2018. Early Windows 10 was pretty bad too.
>>109389987now looks better, unc.
>>109389987People not getting their eyes checked, hidpi screens and dumbed down interfaces are to blame. I wish UX included thinking about an on-ramp for people to become power users and accommodating said power users. Also tolerance for pointless chrome just built up in people for no good reason.Flat design of android 5 era was goated, not a big fan of the new rounded corners and skeumorphism stuff myself.

Retarded make work corpo monkeys not understanding that native desktop UI is purely functional and should be as performant and standardized as possible, not a lights show and jingling keys. People who use Windows seriously have been pissed about how chaotic and buggy/laggy the new UI is.
>>109389987The windows UI was a solved problem up to windows 7, In order to keep their jobs UI designers tried to copy what other OS's were doing and ended up making it worse.
>>109389987>What went wrong with UI?They tried to make UI simplified enough for very stupid people to use.
>>109392712is the assumption their target of stupid would not distinguish a button so might as well not draw button borders anyway?
>>109392736Yes, it's actually worse. They didn't even make it simple/intuitive for bottom 50% user case studies. They arbitrarily did web appshit React development because they wanted to.
>2026>tech incompetent zoomies on /g/ still can't figure out how to change the menu layout on a 5 year old OSThis board really has gone to shit
>>109390553i liked windows 10/11 flat dark grey UI. i loved the customization options and ease of use of XP/7 but frutiger aero is distracting if you use your computer for productivity. i use Mint Cinnamon now and it's comfy, as long as you have a lighter wallpaper.
>>109392767>frutiger aeroit was called aero glass zoomie
11 ui is fine just laggy as shit
>>109389987Applefags, Applefags everywhere.
>>10938998711 looks the best>>109390519This is trash
>>109389987Seemingly, Windows 11's design was meant for a cancelled dual-screen tablet, and it made SOME sense for that form factor.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surface_Neohttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_10X
>>109394887why not replace the touchpad (which everyone hates) with the smart-touch-extra-whatever-screen
>>109389987Women and jeets
>>109390519I thought this shit was cool looking at the time (no idea why)
>>109390519I remember this. But aside from this, which is easily fixed by installing classic shell, Windows 8.1 was actually way better than 7. My favorite era of windows was 8.1 plus classic shell by far. Probably because this was when I had friends and we'd play League of Legends on teamspeak and you could still call people names and talk shit
>>109390681It do be like that.
