Why are Xbox One and Series X unhackable? What did they do so right here? OG Xbox was completely hacked with custom dashboards and installing games to the IDE drive.
Microsoft lets you pay the $20 or so dollars for a dev license to run custom applications. Killed any interest the emulator people have in hacking it, which means that the people who want to pirate (they are lazy and do not contribute to software development) don't get to pirate. It's genius really.

Xbox one got hacked recently. That said given the amount of piracy during x360 Microsoft rolled their sleeves to reduce surface area for attacks that found result in the console being hacked. They also have a Dev mode which reduces "justification" for hacking as you could use it to run emulators and what not, that and they have few worthwhile games that can't be played elsewhere which means there's reduced interest for looking at it for preservation and whatever

Dev mode is literally what OtherOS was on PS3. If you let people run their own code and mess with such a device, there's no push to break the security. They finally understood it.
