Why are baby boomer gen people so hopeless with any kind of technology of any kind? I just had my dad ask me to help him find where to find the section that "shows me where to send pictures to google photos" in the user technical manual for his new iPad. He was looking in that little book for it for 30 minutes.
>>109394906Old people give up on learning at a point. They think "they know all they need to know" and just stop using their brain and that's when cognitive decline kicks in hard.
Only Gen X and Millennials are computer literate. Boomers and Zoomers can't seem to figure computers out for some reason.
>>109395032The problem is Boomers think they know how computers work and when it's not what they expected then it's the computer's fault or somebody set them up on purpose. They live in this weird reality where when something is wrong they feel like it should be enough to feel justfiably indignant about it rather than even attempt to adapt or question what they believe to be true. They don't just apply this logic to computers they approach almost everything that way.
>>109395074it's the lead poisoning
>>109394940fpbp
>>109394906bogged
>>109395032do they not teach it in school? I remember in like 1st grade which would have been IDK late 90s we had computer classes all the way through to 8th grade, we'd do typing, web browsing, projects, playing games, lan stuff etc. I unironically learned basic PC use in school and then when I hit maybe 10th grade I had my own money and fully dived into it
>>109395032the early half of zoomers know how to use computers, the later half do not. the oldest zoomer is like 27/28 years old
>>109395074This, my grandpa keeps saying that he's phone is broken because;>apps keep disappearing He actually removed them by mistake>can't access his online accountsLogged out of them somehow and doesn't remember the password>he's Google accounts get removedHe logged out of them and doesn't remember the address nor password>photos disappear from the galleryThey're actually uploaded to the Google Photos of one of the Google accounts he lost Boomers are retarded>>109395319Most zoomers don't even know how to google stuff properly, let alone installing software on their computer (without using the Ms Store)
The actual reason is because in their mind they are doing what the obvious logical thing for a tech issue was for pretty much their whole lives. If you brought an ancient Sumerian to the present and gave them a phone, they would probably try to use that little utensil thing they used for cuneiform, assuming they were literate. Combine that with the fact that just like every other demographic, most boomers are lazy and stupid.
>>109395319They replaced this with Chromebooks
>>109395469>cuneiformCunnyform lol
>>109395319they also teach English in school and most people can barely form a sentence
>>109394906idk the boomers I know can't even change the display port on their fucking TVs and bitch and complain that 'muh cable and muh satellite is broken' if they switch it over to hdmi by accident. they will not fucking learn either which pisses me off the most, just sit down for an afternoon and figure it out you fucking idiots you're retired and at home all day and you can't even change the fucking display? seriously?
>>109395074I work in customer support and it made me really fearful of being too /g/ coded and hating every new technology that comes around.I've had more than one boomer wait in line on the phone so they can ask for a physical address so they can post a physical letter that takes like 2 months to process manually, just because they refuse to send an e-mail that would solve their issue in like 5 minutes.
>>109394906I've patiently configured and explained to my baby boomer dad how to use his computer and he's completely autonomous now. Millenials can't comprehend the level of technogical progress they've witnessed.
>>109394906That Runa?
>>109394906why is this unfunny larping ugly retarded foid with half a pound of make up being spammed on every fucking board today? it was on v, it's on pol and now g
>>109394906Boomers grew up what, in the 50s, 60s, 70s or something like that? I imagine the things they learned were just drastically different back then and for a lot of them computers only really became common when they were well into their adulthood or middle age even. That late in life a lot of them probably had no more willingness to learn something completely new and never picked up all the new tech shit, computers included.Your dad was probably reading the manual because back in his day you probably COULD read the manual and figure out how to use every function of whatever device you bought.
So how do I learn to code as a gen alpha instead of following tutorials?
>>109396738You follow tutorials starting with the basics and make sure you actually understand what you're learning rather than just going to the motions. Make sure to actually program as well, actually doing the thing you're trying to learn is critical.
The silent generation would have been unironically more computer literate than retarded boomers
>>109395319>do they not teach it in school? K-12 education might as well not even exist in the U.S. it's so shitty. Private schools are unironically even fucking worse than the public ones somehow, the whole system is so bad. Anything you assume should've been taught in that time you can reasonably assume anyone who's graduated has not learned, and will not know about it unless they did it in college or learned by themselves. In Europe it might be better though, idk. I feel like I'd trust an Estonian zoomer more with computers than an American one, at least.
After a certian point, your brain's development slows significantly compared to your younger self with aging and essentionally makes it harder to learn new things. Considering they also know a lot about the previous generation of technology, and that what makes their base of logic of how to use surrounding technology. When they stumble across a problem that is simply not in their logic, they naturally call of help to fix it as it is the easiest path to solve it. The thing is their current logic is preventing them from quickly adapting a new set of logics is simply because it confuses them in the current logic's perspective and the mind simply cannot fathom it right away (naturally we are never meant to observe such big inventions in such a short time period). Majority of us will be exactly like them, but it won't just be because of our laziness just our design.
>>109394906What tech do I need to impress picrel
>>109395319Chromebooks are the dominate OS in schools now so they know how to operate a shit android and that's it. Only exception is any wealthy private schools will have macs.

fuck i forgot to change my name
>>109394906iZoomies are infinitely worsethey cant even operate a copier
>>109398050Zoomers are willing to learn how to do things. Boomers expect everything else to do things for them the moment they hit a snag.
>>109395087Could also be mercury poisoning from amalgam fillings.
>give up on tech like 5 or 6 years ago because it all sucks and still does>get assigned work @ job that uses a whole slew of shit ive never seen nor used>immediately pick up the ropes and fly through the work so quickly and without using the mouse>"wow how did you get so good at computers anon"im convinced everyone is fucking retarded at this point i straight-up just have zero fucking clue why people struggle so much with new shitits driving me crazy i was tabbing through fields and alt-tabbing etc and they all acted like it was witchcraftim not even trying to brag im genuinely concerned. what the fuck happened?
>>109395032This to a large degree. Boomers were in their 30's before home PCs were common and for the first decade they were either a nerdy toy or used for work.Younger Gen Z grew up in the smart phone era where everything was bubble-wrapped in ultra simplified UIs rather than navigating file trees.>>109395074>when it's not what they expected then it's the computer's fault No, it's ever since you installed that damn video game!
>>109398050these people are genuinely more useless than the zoomers that can't operate this shit, if they don't know how to use something just fucking tell them how
>>109399287>if they don't know how to use something just fucking tell them howlollmao eveniniggers are on the same level as niggers, there's no saving them, literal wastes of oxygen
>>109399287Zoomers will stand next to a photocopier, stare at it, and immediately burst into treats about how they don't know how to use it. They won't tell anyone or ask for help, just cry there and waste their time. Then someone will come up and forcefully show them how to use it. They'll say thanks. Will they try what they were instructed? No, they'll just stand there crying more about how they don't know and nobody wants to help them.Zoomers are unteachable. They're also more retarded than the most retarded boomboom.
>>109399287>just fucking tell them howdont forget to tell their parents
>>109399424>burst into treatskek
>>109394906they huffed tons of leaded gas exhaust fumes. think that for a time before oil crisis, shit used tons of fuel bc nobody cared about fuel efficiency
>>109395032As a Gen Xer, I fully agree. My boomer parents are absolutely hopeless. It's like they have an active shield that prevents them from absorbing any knowledge.>Mom, I literally showed this to you yesterday and we went over it>Anon what? No I've never seen this! This is too hard! I give up!>Mom, your password, you know the one I told you yesterday countless times to never forget, to always remember, the most important password that you need to be able to type in anytime>Anon, what password? I've never heard of this before! And yes, zoomers aren't any better. Turns out knowing how to use TikTok doesn't translate into even the simplest stuff like connecting to wifi.
>>109395407>like 27/28 years oldI'm 30 and computer literacy falls off a cliff in people who are 2-4 years younger than me. I think it coincides with their formative computing experience being a smartphone rather than pirating video games on windows xp
>>109395830I'm from the ex-communist block so westoid generation names don't really apply but my (maternal) grandma who was born in the early 40s daily drives ubuntu for her email and weather reports, and my dad who was born in the late 50s daily drives mint with xfcemy mom who was born in the late 60s absolutely refuses to touch anything that isn't windows

>>109394906Having been forced to use them in comparison to my Pixel 2, I think if you know how to use Apple devices you probably have to be a little retarded

They're just lazy as shit.My dad (70) is incapable to check his mails no matter how I explain, but he had no problem finding tits on Youtube. When there's a will there's a way.

>>109398050Zoomers between 25 and 30 are the most tech-literate population in existence currently, below 25 it quickly falls off a cliff into the pic you posted
>>109401677Not a chance. The most tech literate population are the people in their 40s now.
>>109401689Lol no. Even the tech illiterate millenial karens are infinitely more tech savvy than the most tech savvy zoomzoom.
